Actually, I bet it’s a match-3 F2P mobile game ala Puzzle Quest based on the Diablo IP developed by an Activision subsidiary based in Montreal with substantial amounts of the asset creation offloaded to Shenzen China.

It will be called “American McGee’s Diablo: Terror of the Underworld”.

I am pretty much done with Diablo 3, however, if they introduced a necromancer who could raise the army of the dead ala Diablo 2, then I would most definitely play again.

I do miss the necro. Summoner builds in Path of Exile don’t really do it for me and (I know this is sacrilege and Tom may ban me for this) I didn’t care much for the Witch Doctor. I mean he was cool and all, and I loved the theme, but his minions just weren’t interesting to me.

Still, I think I’d rather see a remastered Diablo 2, or a Diablo 4 at this point. Diablo 3 has never really grabbed me, despite the massive improvements made since release.

I see this mentioned sometimes. What do people generally understand by this? Diablo 2 in the Diablo 3 engine? D2 updated to work with bnet, windows 10, 1080p?

In my mind I was thinking redoing it in the Diablo 3 engine. Updated visuals, polish, etc.

For me, D2 v 1.09 with D3 graphics and quality of life upgrades. Instant buy.

For me an official widescreen patch with scaled UI would be fine. Oh, and they can give it to me for free.

The D2 (and SC/WC3) remaster may still be happening, but this image is likely not related to that project. I wouldn’t think they’d create selectable gender for all of the characters.

D1 ‘recreated’ in D3 engine with upcoming anniversary patch. 16 level dungeon with four original bosses. Shaders to make it look old, movement limited to eight directions. Play with current toons or re-roll. Not clear, but from that I guess it means it’s essentially only a D1 inspired map and mode, rather than any core itemisation/skill tree changes. On the PTR next week.

2 New zones added to D3 RoS next year.

And Necromancer in 2017. Necromancer will be a paid content character pack, with ‘other new’ features.
