They should have monetized stash tabs if they wanted ongoing revenue. I jumped back in for the first time in 5 seasons playing a crusader this time since I haven’t completed a season yet with one, or did before they gave out haedrig’s gift. Made it through 70 and the first 3 chapters last night. Hopefully will finish up chapter 4 today. Still is a fun game to come back to.

Yeah, they created several major systems including Kanai’s Cube and a couple tilesets, and released them for free rather than doing a real expansion. Probably the necromancer class was at least conceptually part of that canceled expansion.

The Path of Exile devs held a truly great GDC talk about designing a ARPG for ongoing monetization without preying on their users. It goes through all their false starts and eventual successes. Their trick? Nothing magical, they regularly update the game with cool stuff so players keep coming back. Blizzard started on that path with seasons but then basically gave up on it.

The real problem is Blizzard is EXTREMELY slow to develop new content. It must be something in their DNA. Grinding Gear Games does not suffer from that disability.

Played this right through on the PC. Picked it up today on ps4 to play coop with my son and it’s great. Plays so well on a controller as well.

Season 17 should be interesting if they remove the passive “-1” set item buff we had this season, as it allowed for some really great builds. Will feel like a ‘nerf’ without it, unless they buff something else for S17. We’ll see.

Just glad I finally completed a full season - Suppose I should play Necro next time, since I bought it this season for the extra stash tab, but didn’t really play the character much. Found a nice 2 man team to grind Hardcore character with in GR’s, so managed to get higher in Paragon than I had ever gone before.

When I returned yesterday with my 600 paragon I got grouped with people at 1800… so guess some people are really hardcore :)

Wonder when Season 15 was, since I only played it for 12 seconds, vs. 84 hours in this one.

Total hours spent:
Barbarian: 88 hours
DH: 170 hours
Necro: 2 hours
Crusader: 58 hours
Monk: 560 hours
Witch Doctor: 86 hours
Wizard: 127 hours

… that was a lot more than I imagined.

blinks rapidly at this number

Barbarian - 142 hours
Demon Hunter - 94 hours
Necromancer - 23 hours
Crusader - 43 hours
Monk - 149 hours
Witch Doctor - 40 hours
Wizard - 60 hours

I’ve definitely received my money’s worth from Diablo 3.

I may have to look at my hours now… ( a bit scared )

Hmm. I may have to seriously participate next season. I’ve played the game, hit 70 + X paragon levels in at least a few seasons, but then always wander off (usually well before completing even the season journey). Apparently I’m doing something wrong because I don’t have numbers like that.

So I took a peek… I missed season 12. Not sure why. May of been burn out. Monk brings in the win at 1007 hours and some change.

How do we check the # of class hours?

I really enjoyed 1-70 that time around with that buff, and a hat with the red stone from the january event.

They’re trying the opposite next. A bonus for not using item sets.

Could someone explain to me what a season is and what the point of it is? I don’t get it.

They’re like Fresh Start servers. Everyone begins with nothing. They also tend to have one or more special rules to spice things up.

They do have some permanent rewards – cosmetics, pets and stash space among them.

Basically it can be summed up with:

— Not having to worry about a full vault/stash so you can just loot and keep on looting.
… and you get to start fresh. -^

Almost every game I play I hit a ‘dead stop’ once my inventory is full. Had the problem with Everquest and have had it since.

Which is why the console is so important in the “TES” games, just increase your carryweight and keep on looting. Sure, you might not need 26 gold chalices… but do you really want to take the chance?

You also pretty easily get a full 6-piece armor set to help you along the way to more loot via Haedrig’s Gift.

I don’t remember this from last time I played… anyone know when they started that up? Cause I would’ve been all over a “free RoRG” passive if I’d have known sooner.

Although I chose the Crusader for this season because his six piece set had a big damage increase percentage, I ended up getting a full set of Zunimassa’s Haunt for the Witchdoctor I subsequently created. The damage modifier with all pieces is %15,000! I’ve been able to get to GR70 (solo) fairly easily with this build. Is there a higher modifier than this, because once I got the full set it’s been ridiculously easy to let my pets tear everything apart and concentrate on not dying.

What do you mean Higher modifier? Than 15.000?

I suppose check out the Leaderboards and inspect the players who do GR130 etc and see what they are.

Finished up the chapter 4 achievements today. My crusader wasn’t quite ready for torment 4, so he was doing some dancing while taking down the keywardens and cydea. It took 2 runs to finish the level 20 rift, but now with the full 6 piece he goes through torment 4 no problem. All I really wanted to accomplish was getting the full set for the crusader since my crusader doesn’t currently have a set. Now everyone has at least 1 full 6 piece set. I guess now I should start trying to farm ancient items.

Nice, are you done for season? It’s just starting to get interesting around there =)

Once you get Haedrigs you can immediately jump up a few levels to T6 or T7 and start putting that increased damage output to good use.
