Hold down ‘alt’ when hovering to compare to the second similar slot. This also works when comparing an offhand weapon.

After 2 weeks with the game I just figured it out, haha! Must read keybinds…

Can anyone comment on the state of the loot-pinatas in Diablo 3, with the advent of Loot 2.0? Is the overall experience on par with the drop rates from Diablo2, or is farming gear a real chore?
If I play the demo, will I get to experience the new loot patch they pushed in February?

Legendary/set items are actually good now and about 1/3 of them have interesting (to differing degrees) special effects.

No auction house and the game was also rebalanced around it not being there, with a slightly higher chance of dropping better stuff and drops are somewhat targeted at your class (including legendary items which roll with your stats of choice, mostly). I still get a bunch of strength gear on my monk though.

Farming for loot mostly involves joining torment 1 public games and killing tons of random crap with 3 other people next to you. You get a bonus to your rate of finding legendary/rare/magical items with another person by you, stacking.

For a bit of a bonus, get a party together to finish the campaign and reset for the extra drops on diablo and extra bonus exp/gold from quests.

I really hate this personally, even if it is the most effective by far. Everything dies instantly and there is zero challenge. I could just watch a movie instead of doing anything. I’d much rather play torment 3-4 either solo or with a friend, but i feel like an idiot because you pretty much need to be in a full party to get a decent chance at drops.

The interest is in the legendary/set items that have special effects good enough to focus your whole build around. Most do not fall in to this category, but a number have interesting effects even so.

To answer the question - no, you unfortunately can’t compare your follower’s equipment. That bothered me at first until I realized that it’s not really important enough to be worth missing.

Whenever you find something you think might be good for your follower, just put both items in your inventory and move your mouse back/forth over them.

It’s tiny, though. You do get a bonus to MF for being in a party (in addition to GF and experience), but that bonus is chopped by 90% for sets and legendaries, the items that matter most. All MF gets chopped that way, which is why it’s no longer a useful stat in my opinion. 300 MF gives just a 30% increase to set/legendary drop chances, and 300 MF is incredibly hard to get with the way gear has been changed. Unless you were rocking a near perfect MF set before the big 2.01 patch, I wouldn’t bother with it at all. Even if you were, that set will be obsolete tomorrow at 9 PM PST.

Actually, isn’t there a tooltip onscreen explaining this? I believe it’s at the bottom of the pop-up window.

I just learned you can hold down the control key to buy potions in increments of 5. Way cool.

Is it sad that im getting excited about tomorrow evening? 5pm where I live.

It’s not sad to be excited about one’s hobbies.

Lots of lag spikes tonight. I think the servers are already getting overloaded by all us excited folks.

The server has been having some slowdowns over the past few days every so often for me as well, including some annoying disconnects (some of which made me glad i wasn’t masochistic enough to do hardcore since i died in them).

I’d like to think blizzard has prepared for the launch (especially after the diablo 3 launch problems), but seeing as it is the norm for video game companies to throw their hands up in the air and act surprised when traffic kills their game servers on launch, i’m leaning towards the servers not being up tomorrow after launch.

And I totally have off Tuesday. Which means maintenance will happen all day long and I won’t get to play.

Sorry for the jinx.

I think they said no PLANNED maintenance this week, but i think we all know what the chances of not having actual downtime are.

Blizz has added local servers for Australia recently which is great for us oceania based folks but im concerned that they are still under estimating just how many folks are going to want to play tomorrow. The last thing they need is another couple of days of Error 37.

I realize that’s a possibiltiy, and yeah, it’s not really crucial - at times I missed upgrading follower equipment for entire playthroughs and I hardly noticed a difference - but it’d also be a trivial matter to implement and it’s pitiful this hasn’t been addressed in the years this game is out now.

Ah well, at least I wasn’t just missing the obvious somehow. Thanks.

Error 37. Never forget.

I have two questions:

  1. Is there a way to view the normal end of act cinematics? It seems that only the final chapter, when you kill diablo plays. I know there is a cinematics menu, but the end of the act cinematics are not present.

  2. Where should I “be” to play the new expansion when it comes out? Will I have to kill diablo one more time to trigger the event to go to the next act? So I should play up to, right before I fight him? I did reset my quests recently, if that matters.

You’ll need to have killed Diablo in that active game. So if you just reset quests, you will not be able to play the expansion until diablo dies.

But I can kill him and then even if I go back to act 1, I can then jump to act 5?
