If you clear monsters <20% slower on expert than hard, and aren’t up to master, then I guess you’re in the very narrow band where expert makes sense. It’s so narrow, though, that it’s unlikely to last long. In those situations I stick on hard and just play faster; rather than clearing every group I run to the next one and clear the stragglers if they catch up.

Minor side gripe: Why wasn’t flat bonus experience per kill removed from items in 2.0? It’s a completely laughable stat. Ooo, 150 xp per monster I kill…that’s huge…

Of course I could do that, I’m just trying to get something resembling fun out of my first run through the expansion. I think I might do it anyway, though, as I am not finding much in the way if better gear. Not so far, anyway.

I don’t know, but it gives me an obvious target for the mystic to enchant if/when I decide to upgrade a piece.

If you’re concerned you might miss a legendary dropping off-screen, quickly tab to check the map before you zone out. They show on the map as giant orange stars.

RPS doesn’t think RoS and Loot 2.0 changes D3 enough.

This is why Diablo 3 is not a long-term game – that bedrock concept of what loot is, and why it’s valuable to players, is flawed. Look: I love loot. You’re reading about Diablo 3, so I bet you love loot too. But this is Excel loot, stat loot, loot where the only difference you’ll ever see is visual and the feel never changes. Scrooge McDuck doesn’t sit there looking at his gold, does he? That old duck dives right in. You need to feel treasure for it to be real, and it’s bizarre that creating a sense of virtual weight is one of Blizzard’s specialities – yet Loot 2.0, despite the claims of ‘playstyle-altering’ properties, doesn’t deliver.

I disagree heartily.

I don’t think they understand what made Diablo2 a “long term game”. To be honest, I don’t either. I don’t see myself playing D3 indefinitely. I’ll get a few more characters to 70 and pick up some paragon points, but I won’t be playing D3 in May, that’s for damn sure.

If it’s ladders, D3 is adding those soon.

I know I don’t understand it. Two characters through normal and I couldn’t face act 1 of Diablo II ever again.

I think Diablo 2, for me, was the first case of “gotta catch 'em all” syndrome. It was all about collecting those ellusive last couple of pieces of best-in-slot gear. It’s the same reason I kept raiding in WoW even though we had killed Deathwing more times than I can count; there were pieces of gear that were better than what I had and I wanted the top of the line in everything.

You see it a lot in Marvel Heroes still too. “I have all level 60 uniques, but i don’t have the perfect rolls for them yet”

I don’t have that drive anymore. In Marvel, I have a hard time playing my 60’s once I’ve gotten them in at least passable level 60 gear. In WoW, I don’t care enough about “topping the meters” to bang my head against the wall for hours each week, hoping to get a helm that is 6 ilvls above what I’m already using. I’m not sure if this is a symptom of burning out on the loot rat race, or if it’s the next evolution in my gaming style.

Would really like to get two sockets on my gear, just cant seem to get the legendaries and other mats required for it.

We did 3 man Adventure in Torment 1… One guy got like 12 legendaries during our playthrough, including a 3000+ DPS 2H weapon, whereas I got exactly 0 legendaries, even with 37% magic find on my char, versus his 0%.

Stop having fun and be more efficient!

Adventure mode and rifts have really made the endgame fun for me. If I’m grinding…then I don’t even realize it. It’s not only exciting, but also easy to level and get phat loot with. I don’t even miss the 100% bonus xp from last week!

Is everyone spending their blood shards? I keep getting bad rolls, so was thinking about saving up in case Blizz changes anything with them. I didn’t really gamble in D2, so maybe I’m just missing something. It all feels like a waste atm.

The blood shards max out at 500 I believe. And so far, they’re pretty useless. Just getting random yellow crap items.

I suppose you could use them to give gear to a lowlevel character… except that the vendor isn’t available unless you are in adventure mode(?).

I got a level appropriate Legendary shoulder from blood shards… though I spent 150 doing it.

Finished Act V at 67 on my WD, Hard, HC. The Malthiel fight was only hard because he has more health than a barrel of elephants, but it was pretty cool none the less. Did one bounty to get to 68. That mode is gonna be pretty fun I think.

I’m finding a lot more cool loot, even before 70, and it certainly feels more fun than before.

Blood shards are for gambling. I agree this feels bad, because unlike gambling with gold in D2, you can’t spend them on anything else. As specific rewards for completing content, such a low hit ratio is no fun at all.

Edit: Annnnnnnnnnnd fixed!

Haha! That was quick. I only posted it a few hours ago.

Stusser, you need to complain about things in the game more often. Good job.

I don’t feel the change at all with the hotfixes. Based on my experience no increase at all in the drop rate of the legendaries.

Sweet, a set item…oh god no, I recognize your icon, Blakthorne’s Spurs…you’re here to troll me aren’t you…

lol i troll u

Oh, and this was after the game gave me a Thunderfury with a socket…to a level 69 character(monk). Thanks game…so close, and yet so far…

Update: My next legendary is…another pair of boots with no main stat, and really not a single redeeming stat. Plus no “legendary” property. What have I done to offend thee, RNGesus…
