Diablo IV - A Return To Darkness

@Equisilus do you want in on uber duriel runs? if so you need to turn on cross platform chat

Iā€™m good, thanks! Only four levels to go to 100 is my goal right now, hope to complete that this weekend.

No sweat, good luck on that.

Congrats @divedivedive on his first uber, Melted heart of Selig

Now I just need to figure out where to use it. It seems like a magic using resource but it drains mana along with health when youā€™re hit, which seems like a class that doesnā€™t use much resource would make better use of the amulet. Going to take some thought and experimentation.

Probably best to shred it and get the primal you want for your builds

@divedivedive you able to get on?

Probably be home in a half an hour if that works.

Papa will be back around 1030 eastern

Ok, will definitely be on then.

After hitting 100 with my hc sorc, I thought Iā€™d tackle moving the season journey ahead. I have one more goal to complete chapter iv and it looks to be between killing 666 elites with a mindcage active (I have 160 or so) or killing the Blood Maiden during helltide. Not likely going to do the bloodmarked one.

I assume the Blood Maiden is some uber boss of helltide? Would it be easier to just stick with killing elites than trying to find the Maiden? I donā€™t really want to spend a lot of time in this high level play, but my sorc is pretty much the most powerful of the six characters I played (one of each class, two were sorc) so now is the time.

Blood Maiden is the thing where you sacrifice the three hearts to summon her and then totally murder her. Thereā€™s one in every helltide zone. I couldnā€™t even tell you how many of those Iā€™ve done, theyā€™re great for farming gear. Sometimes you even get a unique.

Ah, I havenā€™t paid much attention to helltides, so I donā€™t know about the hearts used to summon her, or how to summon her. If thereā€™s only one per helltide I can probably get through 666 elites faster than finding said heart. I only have to do one to finish Chapter IV then itā€™s on to some high level season stuff Iā€™m not sure Iā€™m up to tackling with a HC character.

As an aside, I really donā€™t like hitting level caps in games. Scrounging up gear to make what I have just a little bit better isnā€™t a fun use of time, but running nightmare dungeons and doing whispers was entertaining up to 100 after I finished the campaign. I think my HC character has found more altars than any of the characters before, too, because she got to start with a hidden map and I travelled more of it in my drive to 100.

Killing the Helltide lady is easy and fun! Much easier and better than that other thing, by a zillion miles.

You get hearts by the handful doing helltides. Within each helltide, there is a cursed ritual zone where 1 or more players can slot those hearts into 3 stone altars. When they do, a cursed ritual is invoked and the Blood Maiden is eventually summoned.

If you are in a helltide, you will sometimes see a notification that a cursed ritual has started. That means the summoning is in progress.

After a few hours in helltides, you will have plenty of hearts to start a number of cursed rituals on your own or join in with others who loiter nearby. Those events are much easier with other players as the Blood Maiden has some nasty fire attacks you donā€™t want focused on you only.

Ahh, thanks. Yeah, it looks like I have 45+ of these hearts (displayed up by the cinders). But Iā€™m already at 420 elites out of 666 with only a couple hours more play so I think this is better for my HC sorc then going after BM solo.

I just started playing this again after completely bouncing off it at launch. Iā€™m playing the campaign for the hell of it which I am sure is leveling inefficient but I felt like checking it out.

It feels so much better than launch but holy hell is the gear shit in early game. Iā€™m level 35 and have gotten all of 3 orange drops and they were uninspiring at best.

I get that the game doesnā€™t start until the end game but itā€™s pretty weak sauce so far. I just hit flurry over and over and everything melts. Be nice to see anything encouraging early skill diversity early on.

The blood maiden is a legendary pinata. Groups of people will just continually drop the hearts in for the ritual and start it back up, and you can get a inventory full of legendary items really quickly.

With a little more fine-tuning to my barbarian, Iā€™ve managed to beat Pit level 100, with enemies that are all level 200. I feel pretty good about that, but I know Iā€™m not done yet. At what point do the highest level materials get awarded in the pit? I kinda burned all the high level materials to cash in for lower level stuff because uh, I made some bad investment choices. I guess my ultimate goal would be to kill Uber Lilith but Iā€™m still not really sure if I can get there. Oh well, still a decent goal to shoot for I suppose.

Thatā€™s the gradual gearing up for people who follow the storyline. If you skip it, you will be fully geared in orange gear before 35 by doing helltides and whispers. This season, Helltides also reward you with Iron Wolf honour which grants you uniques too.

Also, you might be doing this, but start at World Tier 2 for the extra rewards.

Since it isnā€™t really explained anywhere: Blood Maiden is the best source of legendaries with greater affixes, especially if you contribute at least one heart when summoning as you get double the number of drops. So always try to contribute, but donā€™t put in more than one without giving other people a fair chance to do so themselves as it doesnā€™t scale and youā€™re effectively just depriving someone of the same.

Iā€™d also warn HC characters that unless youā€™ve got high fire resistance and survivability, she will oneshot you with her backwards leap fire nova thingy. Pinata she may be, but she can still sting.

Neathiron is the best mat and is rewarded from pit 60+. Increasing the pit level just increases the amount of it you get, but there are diminishing returns with that after pit 101. If you can do pit 101 in less than 4 minutes youā€™re probably in the sweet spot for farming.
