I don’t think you can possibly read that to indicate he was saying he wanted to reinstitute the draft. It was a very long statement on the part of the woman, obviously she was angry and emotional, and he was just trying to say, in his own bumbling and not very well spoken way, that he was in tune with her feelings.
I’m all for beating up on McCain, but there’s plenty of legitimate ammunition, we don’t need to invent more.
