Again, why couldn’t you make dedicated chat channels for character sheets, maps, etc?
You can, in the sense that you can make a spreadsheet in MS Word. The question is whether it a) works b) is sustainable longer term.
Discord is (ostensibly) “free” so it could not hurt to try of course.
I mean, why couldn’t you set up 12 twitter accounts to host or link to all the same things?
I’m not trying to be a dick about it, really. I save that for P&R shitposts!
But it’s just a case of trying to make a piece of software do something it’s not designed to do, and hammering functionality out of disparate parts not meant to work together in that way.
Ok, and I haven’t tried to us it that way, it just doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Sounds like somebody has a case of “shit’s easy syndrome” ;)
Still, Discord is free so you are correct that trying it would cost nothing other than your time, if that’s the relevant criteria…
Not averse to paying $50-100 a year. Not fixated on free. Have to experiment to see what we need though.
Obviously this is a job for Google Wave.
Looks like Twitch has a desktop app for Windows now and it has some sort of Server function. Not sure if that refers to the persistent (IRC-connectable apparently) chat “channel.”
In more fun things:
So, yknow, uh, watch out for PMs?
Eeeeek! There’s something you don’t want associated with your brand.
