OoooOOOOOOooooh ;-)

OMG YOU GUISE!

YAAAAY!

Was that posted yesterday by any chance?

I haven’t been following it too closely other than through this thread.

Have they announced the price for the expansion only (I have all of the other versions so far) or is there a pre-order deal going on that I should jump on before tomorrow?

No and no, to my knowledge.

There will be some kind of promotion/discount on the base game and existing expansion though.

There will be a promotion, but no details yet.

According to a thread in their forums, release tomorrow seems to be reality rather than possibility. Fun times ahead!

head explodes

In advance of Shadows, there’s a new patch for Legends out:

The v1.7.0.20a update optimizes list screen performance in very large galaxies, fixes some issues with large games on multi-threaded computers, corrects some bugs, improves AI weapon selection in ship design and adds .Net Framework 4.0, which Distant Worlds: Legends now requires.

Any word on what the pricing will be for Shadows, as well as the ‘deal’ for the whole kitten kaboodle?

Nope, no pricing has been discussed as of yet. :/

Even steeply discounted this game will probably run $60+ if you want all the expansions.

You can look at it two ways, a) it’s an enthusiast game and for the value you get from it as an enthusiast it is totally worth it, or b) given the prices for games these days that is way too damn high, especially given its age.

I think in order for me to evaluate if it’s (a) or (b) for me, I would need a demo. Is there a demo running around yet?

Nope, they’ve said it’s too difficult to encapsulate this game in a demo. :/ This game is seriously an investment, because there’s so much gameplay here it’s silly, especially with this new expansion.

Where’s me game Brian…arrr

One more day, yer limey bastard.

Not sure if I like the “game costs too much” comments that always arise with DW. Personally, I have a shit-ton of hours in these games and the value is totally there, even if the investment in the game (both time AND money) is high. I wish the game were on Steam so I could discover HOW MANY hours I’d dumped into it… I have 130 into Sword of the Stars 2, and probably have 4-5 times as much in DW.

That said, the lack of a demo is something that should be rectified. I would invite any prospective DW customers to my house to play my copy, but you guys are probably all psycho murderers :-)

Oh, I hate the argument. I get it, but I hate it.

Its 20 minutes to the new day, I’m getting impatient.

Matrix is on the east coast of the US. Go to sleep man. :)
