As I understand it, the set of the S5/S6 TARDIS interior was built with a big chunk missing out of the side, for shooting. This meant they could only use a handful of angles (or careful shooting). The new interior allows for 360-degree shots.

I’m not sure how I’ll feel about it until I see it in action, but I think it fits the brooding Doctor well – dark, minimalist, no-nonsense.

I like the new intro.

They actually put the Doctor’s face back in.

The new interior is a nice retro touch.

I really enjoyed that one and it sets up the new series well. I particularly liked ‘Hello, I’m a lizard-woman from the dawn of time and this is my wife.’

I really liked the episode, even if they kinda like rushed through it. Last years Chrismas episode was better in general, I felt. Actually, that one is one of my favorite episodes ever, so…

I thought how the new companion was set up was really interesting too. I hope I don’t have to wait for 4 months to see the next episode :< next week pls.

And the intro is ugh. I really liked the actual time vortex, or at least the vortex. This one looks like random shit smashed together.

Not sure how I feel about a Manic Pixie Dream Girl companion. Some of them have had a small element of this, but Oswin really goes overboard with it. In small doses that’ll be fun, but Moffat doesn’t do small doses of anything.

On the other hand, this was one of my favorite episodes recently, especially after a fairly meh season 7.0.

Needs more grenades.

I do agree that the intro is muddy and needs to be cleaned up, but it’s clearly trying to invoke a combination of all the different intros since 1963 for the 50th anniversary in 2013.

I didn’t like this episode. It lacked the creativity and charm of previous xmas episodes. Maybe it’s because I’ve gotten used to watching the episodes on demand or Netflix and those damn commercials kill the mood. I just couldn’t get into it and my 9 year old who is a Doctor Who fanatic said it was the worst episode ever.

The new companion is certainly nice eye candy, but I have a bad feeling her “origin” is going to be complete nonsense, if we ever even get it.

And I am SOOOOO sick of the “power of love” fixing things! I’m sorry, but the tears of a family on Christmas Eve is more powerful than all the weather in the world? Sorry, I call BS.

Frankly I thought the episode boring. They shouldn’t have tried to shoulder a new companion “get to know” in along with the plot. Neither had enough time, so both ended up half-baked.

Thumbs up on the new interior, and I found the ladder bit amusing. Though one wonders if that means the chameleon circuit is offline again, or if the Doctor was just being dramatic because that’s what he does when he’s pouting.

No…they went to great pains to establish that the snow critters reflected the emotions and thoughts of the people around them. My take on it wasn’t that their grief made it rain so much as caused all the falling snow to become rain, if that makes sense.
