Don’t listen to him. Enjoy the rest of the specials!

I never said they were BAD…just…wow…

And done…

Overall the final 2 parts were “ok”, but that final 15 or so minutes were so SAD.

“I don’t want to go”… :’(

Also, I don’t recall the TARDIS catching fire / falling apart as much when we went from the 9th to 10th doctor.

It’s a canonical fact that the TARDIS explodes in direct proportion to how awesome the outgoing Doctor is. Either that, or maybe Davies was giving a clean slate to the new incoming show runner, Moffatt.

Probably the latter. Otherwise every Time & Relative Dimension In Space thingy would’ve blown up during Pertwee’s finalé.

So… Fish sticks and custard? D:

New doctor, new clothes, new TARDIS , new companion, new screwdriver , and new theme song / opening!

So much new!

First episode was fantastic! So apparently this doctor is bad at being on time? :p

Yaaaaaay! So glad you liked it. :-)

Yes, but he’s great at being awesome, so it works out. :)

Has anyone been watching the specials BBC America (and presumably BBC) have been running, with a retrospective of each doctor? They are releasing one per month, with January, and rerun last night, featuring Hartnell, talking about his character, the villains, and just the premise of the show, before playing ‘The Aztecs’. Last night they showed Patrick Troughton, including interviews with Zoe and Jamie, and then went into ‘Tomb of the Cyberman’. Though a bit rough around the edges, it was a great story and while my first Doctor was Pertwee, it makes me want to dig up some of the older ones again. It’s unfortunate that they didn’t talk more about the production, but overall an enjoyable three hours (per Doctor) each.

I enjoyed the first special, although I wish each one were more of a recap of significant moments with that particular Doctor. Instead, they seem to be: an analysis of the Doctor’s personality and how it compares to other incarnations; discussion about a few of the Companions; and talking about a significant enemy that the Doctor faced that season. Oh, and then two hours of an old Doctor Who episode. I was hoping for a three-hour recap of important moments during that series, but it seems to be a little more fluffy than that.

Dang it, I missed the Troughton one and he’s one of my faves! Any chance of a re-show?

They replayed Hartnell twice before and after Troughton, so I expect they will do the same with Pertwee in March. I have no idea when it will be, as it is, I stumbled on this almost by mistake.

Oh, I forgot about those. A bit disappointing that the bulk is just one of the serials. I was hoping for more of a general history of the show and how it evolved, with some behind-the-scenes stuff thrown in. What they’re showing sort of sounds like a reworking of the specials they did for the 40th(?) anniversary.

I’ll still watch it, though.

Fortunately, we have “An Adventure in Space and Time” coming out later this year from the BBC. Written by Mark Gatiss, it’s a docudrama that tells the story of the cast and crew that created the series.

These photos from the recreated 1963 set are pretty amazing.

Hey, I just noticed we are getting another Neil Gaiman episode this season. Sweet!

That will be awesome!

I’m really looking forward to the return of this show. I’ve mostly gotten over my disappointment with the departure of Amy and Rory, in large part due to the great job the new companion actress did during the Christmas special. I’m glad that they are making the new companion far more independant and curious, almost Doctor-like in a way. Should make for some entertaining hijinks.

Are we really only getting like 6 new episodes though? Why so few?

We are?! ROCK ON!

Ah great, Neil Gaiman made one of the better doctor who episodes I’ve seen… When exactly is the new season set to premiere? Kinda seems like its been a while…

March 30th, thank God
