Yep, I watch with my kid and it makes the show that much more awesome.

I agree, completely. I find it much more enjoyable to digest any TV in that manner, these days.

One bit of Who trivia I picked up yesterday is that Alex Kingston (River Song) is 50 this year. Makes me feel less like a cradle snatcher for fancying her.

She’s 50!!! Daaaaaaayum…

It’s the Doctor, same as it ever was, except the sentimentality in the speechifying keeps getting turned up a notch and sometimes, it’s just too much. Like in this episode.
I am enjoying the new companion, though. She’s got spunk! Also hope it doesn’t turn romantic at some point.

Funny, when I read the first messages complaining about this episode, my immediate thought was that I must have liked it more because I was watching it with my kid, who was really enjoying it.

At some point?! I think The Doctor’s been smitten since he first met her.

Yeah, the reaction here always seems unpredictable to me, in part because the show just seems dreadful to me these days. I like the characters, but there’s no longer any coherent narrative, and the solution to everything is apparently the power of love or whatever is the least possible rational response at the time.

Well the power of love is a curious thing…

So have I! But I’m not a millenium-old time traveler bopping thru the universe who’s romantically entangled with the brain-washed daughter of my most recent traveling Companion.

. . . I’m not sure if that makes me less or more creepy than the Doctor.

I watched it with my 9 year old daughter - she loved it. But then, she has watched every episode of the last few seasons on Netflix only about a hundred times each! She loves the doc and especially Donna Noble.

Your daughter has excellent taste. :-)

Season 7, Asylum of the Dalek’s was fantastic, I was all like , DOCTOR save CLARA , then I was all OMG NOOOOOOO , also is it just me or did Amy Pond get like 10x hotter since season 6. <3

I want to play Baldur’s Gate II now.

Really liked this weeks episode. No weird powers or cop outs. Best episode yet!

Although I really wish they showed the doctor finding the tardis at the end rather then just cutting to credits haha.

I dug it too. I love it when they plumb the decades long history of the series for ideas. Just a fun episode overall.

That was a good episode. So far I’ve been lukewarm on this season, and this wasn’t a mind-changer, but it was fun watching Davos Seaworth and the Doctor save the world. I also liked Clara’s realization that they were all speaking Russian. Looking forward to a ‘great’ episode.

I was thinking more of 688 Attack Sub - although IIRC they didn’t have an ‘Alien invades your Akula’ scenario.

Wow, I actually really liked this episode. Was a lot better then I thought it would be. And the ending was pretty good too!

Agreed, awesome episode!

Utterly! Best of the season by really far.

“I’m giving you a face. Can you see me? This is a face!” <3 teh Dr.

My only complaint was the really heavy-handed foreshadowing.
