Hope the Doctor is going to start telling people to “Come the fuck in or fuck the fuck off”. :D

This is awesome, I am going to have to start watching Doctor Who. And, I guess, trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Anyone who doesn’t know who Peter Capaldi is really should check out The Thick of It and/or In the Loop.

exactly. I may actually watch it again.

For Americans who don’t know who this fellow is, the BBC have cast (brilliantly) an angrier, Scottish version of Alec Baldwin’s character in Glengarry Glen Ross.

Redundant.

Malcolm Tucker makes the average scotsman look placid as a lamb.

Pfft. Peter Capaldi will never not be wide-eyed, innocent Danny Olson in Local Hero, gleefully dining on Trudy the rabbit and asking if Marina will be back soon.

I actually only remembered that he was Danny after having seen The Thick of It. Bizarre experience to go back to, but good to see the genesis of Malcolm’s bizarre gangly sprint.

I am disappoint, for now. You may be a fantastic actor Mr. Capaldi, but you sir are no David Tennant or Matt Smith, exuding wacky charm and nerdy enthusiasm to infuse The Doctor with the sort of personality that makes the viewer happily overlook some of the less entertaining aspects of the show. A darker Doctor is all well and good, but you’re going to have some big shoes to fill and you’re going to have to prove yourself to me, the viewer. That’s a task made more difficult if they truly intend to make the 12th Doctor darker and more serious. I hope Moffat is up to the task of writing a decent Doctor for this actor. I wish them both luck, and will continue to watch.

His most recently seen role according to IMDB:

World War Z
W.H.O. Doctor

I love this news. Love. It.

Did you just imply that Peter Capaldi can’t do wacky charm and nerdy enthusiasm?

You’ve not seen “Local Hero”, have you?

Peter Capaldi is the very definition of nerdy enthusiasm and wacky charm. Trust me.

It’s a solid yet disappointing choice. Capaldi is a good actor, and versatile, yet, enh, a middle aged white guy some more?

My 10-year-old was pulling for Morgan Freeman. She was very disappointed.

Capaldi’s been in an episode of Doctor Who, that one to do with Pompeii. Didn’t know he was in Torchwood. Haven’t seen him in anything else, I think, so not sure if I’m happy about this casting choice, but I am sad to see the current Doctor go.

Fun fact, Karen Gillan had a bit part in the Pompeii episode too. As to Capaldi watch In The Loop and The Thick of It. I wonder if this is going to make Tom a Doctor Who fan?

I was hoping for the guy who played Vernon Dursley, or maybe iCarly. Oh, well. Maybe next year!

Couldnt stand either of those two especially Matt Smith, really looking forward to Peter taking on the roll, defintely be watching again, really got fed up with the younger guy and the fawning girls he takes with him. Maybe now we can get some decent side kicks as well.

You’re a few months late for Richard Griffiths, the gentleman who played Vernon Dursley. He passed away recently. Can always try a write-in campaign for iCarly next time around, good luck!

It didn’t take the internet long to cut this together - Doctor Who footage along with clips and voiceover from Capaldi’s most famous character.
