ARanWars Mann - Well that was fun. Knocked out of both games in the span of a week. So much for having a mid or end game strategy. I think my new goal is to survive to turn 20. At least this one was moving along.

At first glance, I thought that without his Ghost King it would have been an interesting battle and I could take him, but even if my cavalry hadn’t been pounding their collective heads against something they couldn’t touch, I don’t think my leaf shield would have held long enough to sweep through his leaders.
My Longbowmen seemed to have arrows bounce off his infantry. Not sure what happened there.
My nature spells were no match for all the fire Abyssia was chucking around. Panic is easily countered by sermon of courage. Vine men burn real well.

Then again, the GK himself would have destroyed my whole force without breaking a sweat. Everything else was window dressing. I should have spent more effort preparing to hit him. I knew he was coming eventually. I just didn’t think he would get there this turn.

I guess I can take solace in my starting position. I was in the center of four nations whose sole communication with me was to send troops my way. If it wasn’t Abyssia, it would have been somebody else. I’m sure Pangea has a stealth army out there someplace. Probably right under my nose ready to take my other castle.

wah, wah, wah. I love this game.

I wrote you a private message about three weeks ago. Still waiting to hear back. :?

Yeah, that was a tough starting spot. While I never actually attacked you (until after you attacked me, that is grin) I did try to get an alliance to get you out early because of your location. It just made sense to get you out of the middle and split your provinces up. It didn’t really end up working that way since Pythium attacked me right out of the gate, among other things…

HA! Tell everyone the truth! You’ve bowed to the pressure of Emperor Robbo Caesar! Pythium shall rise up and seize the day!

I kind of understand what you mean. Right now I’m taking my first crack at playing an air-magic nation (Caelum) in LavaLamp and it’s scary how effective it is. Early on I expanded with a pack of Seraphs using quickness/lightning and that worked out pretty sweet.

Then I learned false horror and things just got silly. I’m running into armies of 70-90 heavy infantry and my army of 6 casters + 25 archers + 3 mammoths is not just winning, but killing the opposing army down to the last man while taking no losses

I can’t imagine what’s going to happen once I learn Wrathful Skies.

Hmmm. Not ringing any bells on this end. The only message I remember getting from you contained several references to respecting the use of force. You then proceeded to trash several of my temples, while my army was off trying to slice into my neighbor.

Yeah, this is a VERY powerful spell considering its path requirement. I started using it towards the end of JM Hardcore and it was unbelievably effective (I think I posted something about it earlier in this thread, now that I think about it). Probably another spell that could do with some adjusting. As it stands, in the later game it’s very easy to peel off 4-5 of your Air Sages and make them a superpowered backfield. It’s easier to counter than some of the other extreme combos, but it’ll rout almost any normal troops. You need SCs, decent summons, flying troops, or battfield-effecting casters, I think (nations that get lots of mindless troops, like Ermor, excepted).

FAM.

Heh, that neighbor (me) happened to be his ally. :P

I did write you as I attacked you, but I didn’t mean to take on a tone that suggested that you respect anything, least of all my dom2 prowess. I did mention that I was helping defend Machaka. Then, when Abysia attacked you, I wrote and suggested that you and I attack him back. Your gameplay is evidence that you supported this idea, but I never heard back from you.

In any case, your line:

I was in the center of four nations whose sole communication with me was to send troops my way.

was very well put! I just don’t believe it is entirely accurate.

WTF. :?:

Fucking Air Magic?

I had no idea you were helping machaka from the one message I got from you. It would have made things a whole lot clearer to me.

The second message never got to me. FWIW I would have welcomed it. Don’t know that it would have made a difference.

I hate the in-game message board.

We both acted as though you had received it, so no matter. I just wanted you to know that someone tried to be your pen pal!

The message I sent you had a large portion in white or grey font, just in case you had not yet seen the current turn. I didn’t want to give you any spoilers! I made sure to point out in the message how to view that secretz0r text.

Well, no we both didn’t act as if we had recieved it. If I had felt I wasn’t threatened from the south, but only from the north I might have been able to put some of my resources that where guarding/developing that portion of my territory into countering Aby.

If, of course, I would have believed such a message.
Would have at least liked to have read what you wrote. Never got anything with a secret decoder bit.

It’s only today in this thread that I realize that Machacka is your ally. Your little romp through my fields had me thinking you were allied with aby!

I’m a moron sometimes. Gonna go cry in my ale a bit. Nothin personal.

He WAS my ally!

Well, “ally” is perhaps not the best word to describe our diplomatic state at the time. We just came to the conclusion that you were the odd man out because of your position and it made more sense to remove you than let you sit there in the middle. But then Pythium attacked me from the west and our plans were put on hold…well, until you invaded me from the east!

Anyway, I’ve been keeping an AAR for this one so I’ll do a full write-up when the game ends.

QT3-LavaLamp (Caelum)

The assimilation of Marignon continues at a good pace. The offensive power of false horrors is unstoppable (by the AI).

QT3-Backov-Cradle (Ermor)

Marignon is getting fiesty at me! Those saucy devil armies have been slaughtering longdeads. I don’t have the heart to inform Marignon that they still aren’t killing longdeads faster than I get new ones. . .

QT3-Hammer (Acrosestupid)

Well this is a comedy of errors. I’ve had my expansion forces rebuffed by knights twice and now I’ve managed to get my pretender killed too. Not exactly an all-star performance on my part.

QT3-NoobAran (Atlantis)

Abysia wants a piece of me! Perhaps all my bragging about Doom Horrors has gotten people riled up. I hope so, since that was the goal. A flying blitz force of devils put my main dry-land stronghold under siege. I’m trying to decide if ~75 devils warrant 2 Doom Horrors or just 1.

Q23Tyrande - GG, all done here.

Q23AranWars - Interesting to read the stuff between Man, Panagea and Machaka. Pythium is fighting Machaka? I see the Jotuns hanging tough.

Q23Feeding Frenzy - Vanheim is at my borders.
