No mods, ah. Okay… we’ll have to discuss later. Do you think no-diplomacy might be good?

It’d be great if you mixed in AIs.

I don’t play mods. I will play with no-clamhoarding rules. Let me know if you do get enough folks together and want to have it in my server :D[/quote]

You like FAM? :)

I think no-diplomacy would be an interesting variation. Long term I wouldn’t want to play a lot of games like that but short-term it ought to be interesting.

My only suggestion would be to ban AE and SG Ermor along with diplomacy. Their diplomacy is their weak point (they don’t co-exist well) so nullifying diplomacy just boosts an already strong faction.

Well I would be in for a no diplomacy game. Would be totally different than the constant e-mail chatter ( which is fun ) that a normal game inspires!

No Ermor … Sniff … Ah well there are plenty of cheezy nations out there!

I’d like to play. But, like Nick, I’m happy to go along with a no hoarding house rule, but I’d rather play without mods (or at least, play without the enormous change-everything mods like Zen’s).

Mark

I’ll try it!

I’m glad to see that there is interest! For now, I was merely wondering if people thought it might be a fun idea, or a bad one, and why. Please, no one consider this a “sign up” thread for a new Dom2 game. I am still in three games, so there’s no way I’m joining another one yet.

I’m finally down to three games from six. I won’t do more than two at a time in the future. Depending on when this new game gets started (if it ever does) I might be interested in joining.

Amen to that, I did 6 games at once at peak and it got to be too much. Especially on larger maps where it can take a good chunk of time to do a turn with a large empire.

Would be interested once I have an ISP working from home again.

Oh…yeah…

Ben-Noop Ulm…that was fun. From major power to ashes in 20 turns. I’m not stailing out of spite, but because I’ve lost connection to my computer with dominions. I’m still getting turn reports, but I was ready to conceed a couple turns ago.

Are you still getting turn notifications? Weird, I’m not. I thought it was over a couple weeks ago. If not, it was pretty obvious that Caelum was going to win anyway. :( But I had a good time in that game…learned quite a bit.

I got the final report a few days ago, which is the first time I’ve actually finished a dom2 game.
I did indeed win :) , but was quite lucky to do so. If Ulm hadn’t staled for a fair few turns and then changed hands in the middle of invading me I think things would have been quite different.

It’s refreshing to read an AAR that actually contains some realism and humility!

Isn’t it? Mercutio played a good game! /salute

I liked this game quite a bit probably due to the fact that we were all noobs and our battles were mostly good ol’ fashioned national troops with some decent summons but nothing unstoppable. It helped that the players were all good peeps too and I’d gladly play with them in future games. Cheers.

The last turn notification I got was the 29th and that’s about when things went Ka-blooie in my household. That must have been the last one.

In my next game I think I’m gonna take up playing Pangea so I don’t get walloped by them. (3 out of my 4 games Pangea has done me in.)

Pangaea, really? I always seem to end up fighting Caelum or Ermor.

I’m going to choose something I haven’t played yet which is everything other than Pangaea, Man, and Machaka. :D

I’ll back up the “Pangaea Really?”. I’ve never seen a well played Pangaea, except for once by Rollory and that was Carrion Woods which is pretty darn differeent than normal Pangaea.

I always thought Pangaea was a pretty weak faction. Nature summons are nice and all, but the oh so expensive mages hurt them.

GuildBoss is rockin’ in WorldWar as Pangaea!

Tell me about it. Of my six MP games I am (was) Pangaea in half of them. Two are still going–Worldwar and FaerunTest–but I’m still trying to figure out how to play em well.

In FT I still haven’t found any indie mages and it hurts–big time–to have to spend 350 gold on Pans for research duty, which means I have to take them off of fighting/summoning/searching duty. And with research at the highest difficulty it was a major gamble that didn’t pay off.

Anyway, I think it’s obvious that stealth is a key component to playing Pangaea but I’ve yet to really pull it off well enough to win a game. I’ve found Charm to be pretty damn impressive though. Just got me a decorated Pazuzu with a Hellsword and The Ankh in Worldwar. :)
