Dom2 really is a pretty good game. One wonders what effect Dom3 will have in this forum.

Uh, me too but at least I can toss in an AAR update for Shepherds:

Shepherds (Pangaea):

I only know what’s going on with me (Pangaea) cuz my scouting is weak. Here’s a quick timeline for Pangaea:

  • Marignon shows up at my doorstep early with big mean armies but leaves me alone until…
  • He boxes me in on 3 sides so I have no choice but to attack
  • He wipes out my biggest, baddest army with ease and Pangaea trembles with fear in the face of extinction
  • The goat-herders of Pangaea (oh wait, we are the goats!) use hit-n-run guerilla tactics to buy time to save up money and beg our allies for more
  • We fight a lot for a long time, mostly over the same provinces
  • We use savings and charity funds to recruit a few overpriced Pans
  • Pans start summoning veggie ogres
  • Wild-eyed naked chicks start showing up too, attracted to the large “units” of the Pans
  • We send the ogres and naked chicks after Marignon’s occupational forces
  • We wrest control of more and more provinces from Marignon
  • We finally kick the last of Marignon’s forces out of our forests and begin mobilizing against his mountain forts on his kingdom’s eastern border.

Edit: crap, still 99!

I actually took to playing the WorldWar scenario for a while with all the other players as Impossible AIs. Makes the early game tough, but if you survive the initial assaults, the late game is easy … except of course if you’re facing a strong undead Ermor, in which case it’s a pain.

OKay, one more AAR update:

Anon (???)

Can’t say anything about Anon. Nevermind.

Edit: JHC, Rollory, we are pathetic!

Surely this post will push the thread into page 100! I should say something about Dom2 so that it doesn’t seem like I’m just being neen. I like Dom2!

edit: Argh!

Pangaea wants alteration asap. Once you get mass protection, you stockpile Pans in your capital and send out Pandemoniacs as army commanders (with hierophants for extra commanders if needed, and just keep feeding them gems via harpy transport. Works pretty good against AI troops.

What is it about pans that naked chicks find so attractive? Musk odor? Big units? Whateve it is, Dave Perkins needs some.

Another thought: you can have those pans sitting in the capital be summoning vine men/vine ogres at the same time. So you’ve got that much more in the way of cheap protectable storm troopers coming in.

Chicks dig math.

Dom2 has math in it.

Ok, who’s the gremlin giggling inside the Qt3 forums host machine and who keeps revising the number of posts per page upwards for this and only this thread?

Welcome to Page 100.

Ok. Page 100.

edit: !@$#!$(! A few secs too slow …

Finally I can take a shower.

Bastard! Jumping right into the middle of our deep and OT discussion! How rude!

(and, coincidentally, stealing all the fanfare for page 100)!

Yeah, please. :?

What’s that? Oh, we can stop now? Ok.

Hang on while I add both the spanking thing and the abstract in the quad thing to the reasons I’m glad I wasn’t smart enough to go into math.

Un-be-lievable! Dom2 roxxors.

Faeruntest (Ctis) Turn 110:

Victory! Man’s pretender-led army in Earthwood sallied forth against an army of 24 sauromancers, 2 tartarians, 120 fiends and 80 or 90 cannon fodder. For the loss of 2 sauromancers and 76 odd fiends and fodder, our glorious armies crushed the Man-ish scum. 18 commanders including the dreaded Moloch pretender fell to charging fiends after the left flank of Man’s army collapsed. 207 out of 235 troops were slaughtered, the remmnants driven from the field screaming. Truly a great day for Ctis!

Defeat! The Man-ish defenders of Myth Drannor slaughtered our brave assaulting troops to the last man. 170 storm demons and 150 Fiends, 2 sauromancers, 2 Vampire Lords, a well-equipped tartarain and an artifact-laden Air Queen were annihilated by what was probably the most magically boosted defending force I have ever seen. Magical power crackled across the battlefield as the attackers were worn down, barely a dent made in the Man-ish horde. Truly a day of woe for Ctis!

Victory! As expected the army in Saradush took it in the teeth from 4 murdering winters and 2 flames from the sky. Of the 230 troops in that army, only 5 sauromancers, 1 vampire, 60-odd vine ogres and a handful of hardy lizards survived. However, these remnants, boosted by the arrival on the scene of a tartarian cylcops, mowed through 12 castings of ghost riders, losing only 13 troops and one sauromancer (self-inflicted! doh). We count this as a victory! The 4 remaining sauromancers, true to their orders as loyal Ctis-ans, then flung themselves at the gates of Saradush and were promptly massacred by the Atlantean defenders. Truly a great day for Ctis!

Defeat! A 2nd AQ, equipped with the forbidden light, went to her doom taking a 225 strong Ermorian army with her. She almost made it, but an Ermorian commander struck her down in the final stages of the fight, moments before he should have routed from lack of troops to command. Alas, this is a dark day for Ctis!

Victory! The Atlantean army sieging the Black Cape was roasted and then overrun by ghost riders in a most satisfying display of remote Ctis’ian power. 2 ice devils and 3 kings from the deep met their makers along with their footsoldiers, although unhappily a number of frost demons excercised the good judgement of fleeing the field before they could be dealt with. Still, Glory to Ctis, on this banner day!

… and you get the general idea. ;)

Despite the terrible disaster in Myth Drannor and the loss of 2 air queens and 4 artifacts, I feel that Man is being successfully strangled to death. He is nearly paralyzed, and just a few serious pockets of resistance remain. althought he force in Myth Drannor is powerful, I do not hink much of it’s chances outside it’s domed fortress… Ermor’s releif of man has so far come to naught, although surely his losses are easily replaced.

Atlantean armies are still coming thick and fast. There are two large armies and ten lesser ones crowding the front lines… it will be a hard slog to go anywhere against these hordes and their magical artillery.

The Ctisian scientists are hard at work on new weapons that will turn the tide of the war, or so they tell me. Onwards to Victory! Death to the warm-bloods! hisssssssssssssssss

What does Man have in Myth Drannor?

Beleive it or not mostly archers, vine men, mechanical men and assorted crud. Oh and some Archies and assorted stuff.

It’s his damn air mages and excellent buffing ( air and earth buffs – all of them ) that make him insanely hard to take. If soapy could get some decent mages that could deal some firepower over to that location he could ( probably ) take the fortress. But it is sooo far away from the main empire.

I don’t know exactly how many demons have died in Myth Dranor but I would probably put the number near 1,000. Those icor stains are going to be very hard to take out.

As Soapy noted Ctisian scientists are hard at work on new weapons. The clinical trials were very sucessful. Only combat trials will tell their true worth!
