Faeruntest (Ermor):

Good game everyone. I had a lot of fun and learned alot.

My gem income was about 120 or so total, and about 1K or so gold. I was giving what I could to Man, and trying to mass up some kind of non-undead legions to use (spring hawks, summer lions, wyverns, constructs and vine ogres mostly). I also made a whole lot of magic stuff, most of my wraiths were fully equiped.

I scripted some of my guys, but for the most part they just kind of did whatever they thought was best. We managed to pound a few c’tisians, and an Atlantis’n doom horror (by mistake, sorry), so it was all good.

Heheh that must have been one of mine that he charmed away. Well I have to say I am less impressed with Doom Horrors and Horrors in general. They really are not very good against a serious force, and they seem to have many counters.

I laughed when I lost two in one turn to really tiny Atlantis armies (like less than 50 units each, heheh).

It’s just Guildboss (Ulm) and me (Pan) left.

Guildboss, did you manage to look at the last turn?

Not yet but I’m sure it didn’t work out too well for me. :(

This game is all but over as jeffr’s centaur hordes crush everything stupid enough to get in the way. I was down to about 4 provinces and by the sound of it I’ve probably lost them as well, including my capital. I was planning a little suprise attack deep in your heartland with my vampires but it was only for fun as I’m sure I’d not be able to hold anything for long. So I’m willing to concede and give Nick his server back but I’m equally happy fighting to my last blood sucking vamp!! DIE GOATHERDERS, DIE!

Sounds like we’re about ready for round two in the No Diplomacy Dom2 series!

As the first victim of the centaur hordes (I was pythium), it’s perversely satisfying to see that they trampled everyone else too. I feel less bad about things now :)

P.S. Game is back online. Let me know when you two are finished with it.

I was C’tis, and was also wiped out by those hordes fairly early. They just cut through skeleton spam like it wasn’t there, and also always reached the back of the field before my hamadryads could have a go at them. My fire 9 blessed serpents seemed a tad weak in comparison :(

I was holding off a few days so that Guildboss could play his turn, but the game is over. I took the last of Ulm’s provinces when I stormed his castle at Ulm. I expected to find the Vampire Queen, but she wasn’t there.

Good game everybody :) This was my first win after about 12 tries. I think the no diplomacy and very difficult research settings helped my fire 9 bless strategy. The white centaurs are pretty tough in the early to mid game if you can build up a decent size force. I backed them up with flying Jade Sorceresses casting Haste, Mass Protection, Relief and eventually Mass Regeneration (although that was late in the game). Haste is nice because the centaurs can reach the back lines in one move.

My Moloch (with a herald lance and a serpent kryss) was waiting in reserve as an anti SC unit. If the Air Queens, Ice Devils and Bane Lords showed up, the Moloch would try to take them out. The Moloch was eventually accompanied by a pretty sizeable force of Mandragoras.

Guildboss’s Blood Marshal took out a large part of my centaur army all by himself, so as I watched the battle, I thought I would have to send the Moloch there. But some white centaurs eventually took him out.

So, that was my strategy. A little surprisingly, no summons were involved at all; just straight national troops and a few Jade sorceresses.

Once again, good game everybody and I look forward to playing with you all again.

I’ve played Pangaea more than any other nation and I think centaurs r0xx0r. Especially the caucasion variety which can be blessed. I think they’re one of the best national troops in the game. They’re fast, tough, armored, shielded, 2-attacks, long weapon, recouperate, and rarely rout due to berserk. Toss in a big Nature bless and they’ll even regenerate!

I’ve tried to do what jeffr did in this game (just build hordes of centaurs and nothing else) but have yet to pull it off half as effectively. I’m usually hurting for money with Pangaea and centaurs ain’t cheap.

Anyway, kudos to jeffr for winning this game with nothing but national troops! Awesome! 8)

Edit: just loaded Anon and the game is over! Darn, I was moving my Vampire Queen and a bunch of Vampire Counts to Pangaea’s capital just to stir up some shit but I didn’t realize I needed at least 1 province left to continue. :( I thought as long as I had some dominion and some troops that I was still ok. Gah, guess I should have attacked last turn so I’d at least had a province. Anyway, good game!

This shall be the model for our Civ4 games…Let’s go for 104 pages this time!

I just need to point out that vbulletin sort of breaks with lots of pages.

The Dominions 2 thread would like to acknowledge the latest brave little attempt to dethrone it. The Dominions 2 thread would also like to point out that the answer is 2/3.

Even the Dom2 thread trembles at the cumulative might of Microsoft Buys Lionhead.

You made me look.

So what’s the word on Dominions 3? Anybody have some inside information?

It has its own message board now :)

Slated for release this Summer, so now all we can do is cross our many arms and pray to the Astral-10 Sphynx in the sky!

I remember this thread. The only thread in existance that made me that curious about a game that I bought it.

And are you still curious enough to buy the third iteration, foogla? I don’t know if you took part in any MP Dom2 game, but if not, you should definitely check out part 3 MP with some players that match your degree of experience and inside knowledge. MP is teh fun.
(Sorry to Tom Chick, I meant to write teh generous and satisfying.)

Nice thread, thanks for the interesting reading.

So are you guys planning to start new No Diplomacy game? I really like the idea of such game. So if the game will indeed take place, and if you will have a free spot, I would be glad to join. Haven’t played dom2 for a very long time.

Cheers,
Stormbinder

I’ve never quite gotten the allure of no-diplomacy games. It’s sort of like poker with fixed bets and no bluffing. Really dumbs down the game and makes min-maxing and exploiting a few specific strategies way more important.
