Oh, hehe. Just kill me (if you can!). This is so early in the game i haven’t really committed any meaningful time into the game enough to make me want to stick it out. I had kind of a crap position anyway and there isn’t much room for me to be anything other then a spoiler.

I figure if i can’t survive 15 turns there isn’t much need to keep me along :).

Well I’ll do my best ;)

Perhaps we can play another game after on a map with a bit more elbow room, that way people have a little time to get established before the serious conflicts start.

Small maps are fun becuase they are less time consuming but I generally prefer slightly larger maps for various reasons, not the least of which is that it reduces the effect of chance on your strategy; less chance of being stuck with unspeakably bad lands hemmed in on all sides for example, and in the long run less chance of having no good magic sites.

Turn 16: C’tis

I am obliged to make public the following so that all might know the true heart of Pythium!

Then, via the in-game messaging, ON turn 14:

…whereupon he invades me a turn early, and almost kills my Pretender, who was out gathering shrubs and writing haiku.

I like “move them in”. And “have to”.

(Now, I must admit that I never replied to his guarantee of peace through turn 14, so he really wasn’t bound to it. Nevertheless, I remain righteous-s-s-sly indignant.)

Meanwhile, his good buddy Marignon let me know that he “had” to take one of my provinces because it split his kingdom “in two halves” (one of size 10 and one of size 2). So he took it, and then (without letting me know that he “had” to take my capital city), he beseiged my capital city. Meanwhile, my army is for the most part beseiging Pythium.

What is a poor lizard race to do? I’m s-s-surrounded by s-s-selfish creatures who seem to care nothing for “personal space”.

Perhaps it will not be so one-sided. In accordance with secret protocols signed on turn 13, the Jotun giants will come to the aid of Ctis.

We’ll chill the Marignon heat, or die trying!

True, we did take the province we needed, and the lizard throne. But we moved only after both the expiration of our peace agreement and after formal notice that the peace agreement would not be reinstated without further notice.

Besides - you really ought not leave a capital province lying around undefended :)

As for the Jotun giants - I fully expect to get steamrolled by them. They’d be coming after me no matter what I did to C’Tis - they were itching for a fight after munching through Man as an appetizer course.

Well truth be told, there was nowhere for me to go but south after Man, this is all happening sooner than I should like. Perhaps thats for the best though, thsi seems to be a VERY fast-paced game.

As for steamrolling Marignon ;) it’s never that simple!!

Jotun’s Pretender will decide the fight between Marignon and Jotun. I know what Marignon has, but not what Jotun has… so read into that what you will!

You can get a hint of my pretender in the battles we fought ;)

I can’t accuse Marignon of having broken a peace agreement early, that is true. I can only accuse Marignon of being terribly rude.

I don’t know if it’s a super-combatant, but Ulm has a Ghost King. If I gave my Titan a life-stealing weapon, I think he becomes an SC. For now he’s just big and tough.

Hey, I said I was sorry. And I said I could guarantee peace through Turn 14, not that I would :P In retrospect I had a castle coming in on Turn 14 so I might as well have waited until then since it fixed my supply problem. I just saw troops starving and panicked.

Mark, who’s playing Ulm, has only played four or five online games, so I don’t think you have to worry about him creating a Ghost King SC. Of course, he is also very smart, and perhaps he has done some research! :)

And like I said, I didn’t reply to your offer of peace through Turn 14, so you’re not to blame for anything. I’m just razzing.

That was a fun fight we had last turn, by the way. I wish your Titan would’ve stayed inside your fort.

Turn 21: C’tis

Matters remain “testy” between C’tis and Pythium, as we take turns beseiging each other’s fortresses. It appears that Pythium has had enough, as he has parked just about all he’s got on my fort this turn. I had thought that my Tomb Kings could continue to reanimate undead units under seige, but sadly, I was mistaken. Fortunately, my mages can still spend gems on magic creatures.

In the center of the map, large rectangles of various colors move about. I thought I had my scouts in prime position to watch the festivites, but I missed them all! That’s the saddest thing…

The big armies did not clash, so you didnt miss much ;)

That was a pretty nasty battle between Marignon and Jotun this turn. Remind me not to mess with their main armies if I can help it.

Oooh yeah, near-total disaster. For some reason, my entire army decided to turn and run almost immediately… probably the only thing that saved it from being a TOTAL disaster!

Marignon has one hell of an army. He did exactly what I feared he would ;) Lots of fire based attacks, especially the dreaded incinerate. Ouch!

Turn 26: C’tis

Okay, that’s the last time I ever cast Lammashatras or whatever the heck they are. “They will probably not attack the caster.” Since they’ve attacked me 4 out of 4 times, I am going to have to take issue with that statement.

A couple of them pulled my army apart and consequently I lost my Pretender versus Pythium when I attempted to break out of my fortress. Things look grim at best.

p.s. I forgot to mention that last turn, I ordered my Bane Lord and his eight Wights to patrol my fortress, just to reduce unrest. Pythium attacked, catching me by surprise, and killing all of those units. That was about 50-60 death gems up in smoke! …which explains why I desperately cast Lammashammajammas (and probably didn’t need to). Arrr!

Jotunheim has become a minor player in the meantime. Having abandoned Man’s territory to a resurgent Man and beaten back behind the mountains by Marignon I am barely scraping together the income I need to rebuild. My strategy is in tatters and things are only looking worse with each passing turn!

Right now its looking like it will be Marignon vs Pythium for the final win, when all us lesser powers have been finally cleaned up!

Well, if you surround your caster by enough fodder, then it’s true – he probably won’t be attacked. ;-)

I keep underestimating C’tis. He should be dead by now but I keep sending out armies that just aren’t big enough (and making stupid mistakes like not setting up my mages casting queues correctly). It’s just a matter of time, but with Marignon swallowing up everyone, time is not on my side.

Nice job repeatedly beating back my army, btw.

Oh and nice job picking the one guy who I forgot to assign bodyguards to as an assassination target. Or I guess he could have been a guy I just recruited. Regardless, you got lucky :P

And isn’t your pretender immortal? How could you lose him?

We both admit to having made mistakes; I wonder who would have won by now if neither of us made any?

Yes, I was pleased and surprised to see my Pretender back at my capital city this turn. I had forgotten that he was immortal! <- example of mistake

I haven’t watched this turn, but I imagine that my counterattack worked, given your description above. Phew!
