But the Lammajammas will still TRY to attack him, right? I assume that your winky is indicating a joke about the fodder, not a joke about how silly I am not to have realized how Lammas work.

Yah, I was jost joking. I never used them much, although I’ve heard some people get mileage out of using them with small bands of mages, where they assume they’ll die but hope to inflict even greater damage.

Marignon, turn 31

Ah, the joy of being in the middle of a small, non-wrapping map. I have a border with all 5 other nations.

Top it off with gaining a reputation as the most potent (never mind that my only real accomplishment was scaring off a horde of giants - note that all those scared giants have gotten a good cry on their mommies’ shoulders and are now back in action), and you have the recipe for disaster.

4 of those 5 other nations are now sending their best and brightest to the sunny shores of Marignon. Somehow I don’t think they’re here to enroll in post-grad inquisition school.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m just sending my Arch Theurgs over to learn the lost art of fire magic. If they happen to sack a few provinces on their way over to the school at the capitol, well you can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

Well i wish I could say they are actually “back in action” no idea how they are going to actually eprfomr in combat. But quite aside from that, I am so severely crippled for other reasons related to my (at this point) 100% failed strategy, the 100% failure part starting right about at the point I tried to attack Marignon ;)

Anyway I am sure the disaster-that-is-Jotunheim will become evident shortly down the road, after the paper tiger of my giant army has been disposed of ;)

I’d just like to point out that my kingdom is in complete disarray and my armies are pathetic, before everyone else says theirs are, and I end up being the one getting Marignon-ed.

Guys, you’re missing the basic point of talking trash.

I do remember fondly how, in the last Qt3 game, you wrote everyone an email that said something like:

“My island now has two of you on it with me. Decide between yourselves which one of you is gonna get his ass kicked by me.”

Whatever you did say, it was excellent smack talk!

It was something like that, yeah :) If only I’d been able to back it up…

Marignon: Turn 33

Congratulations to Soapyfrog for discovering a new strategem: immortal giants. Thanks to afflictions + starvation, many of his giants now sport a morale of 4(!). I can’t kill them, because they run away too fast.

My new plan is to script my commanders to yell “Boo!”

Well it wouldnt matter if I could get them blessed! Unfortunately your opening salvo hit my divine bless Niefel Jarl who then went berserk and didnt bother to cast his scripted spells.

Result: Half my army fled… again… of course, I think you would have won that battle anyway.

Well, that turn sucked. Can we get a redo?

No kidding… I had three bad events, my most valuable province taken by independents, and there is a Marignonese army coming for my soul…

The darkness closes about me… so… cold…

Qt3 - The Dominionator

Turn 42: C’tis

Diplomacy has been quite interesting this game. Pythium and I, who had been at each other’s throats from turn 15 to turn 30, finally called a truce when neither of us could get the upper hand, and when we realized that Marignon would, if left unchecked, trample both Jotunheim and Man with little effort. We put in place a 3-turn NAP which allowed Pythium to beseige Marignon’s capital. Marignon fell back from the Jotunheim front to drive off Pythium, incurring heavy losses for both sides.

Pythium clearly looked (to me) stronger than Marignon at this point, so I demanded that Pythium surrender the fortress he built on my border in return for a renewal of our NAP. Pythium rejected this deal, as he well might have. We called off our peace treaty and again assembled armies along our border.

As the NAP lapsed, we each attacked each other with our main forces. Fate decided that his army would enter my province, allowing me to fight within my dominion. About 60 Pale Riders collided with about the same number of Pythium foot soldiers, who fought for dozens of turns before finally breaking. Skeletons summoned by my Sauromancers leaked through his lines and surrounded his Pretender and Prophet, killing both.

Meanwhile, Marignon has a new enemy: Ulm. Both armies confront one another across a provincial line this turn, and my scouts peek from their hiding spots hoping to see a big fight.

Man has cast a global spell and sits patiently within his 5-provinces, doing who knows what. I assume he is amassing an army of Vine Ogres. It’s a wonder that all six of us are still alive.

Turn 42: Man

That hasn’t been quite the whole story. Seeing as i was trapped several turns ago i decided to send a raiding party into Marignon and maybe rustle up a few extra gold.

What i’ve discovered is that even a handful of PD can beat my raiding parties. I’ve lost two normal armies and one stealth army to just a few crossbowmen and pikemen. It seems my armies always break before his on his territory.

Marignon is massing Devils. Along with his fire-enchanted crossbowmen, and his SC Virtue pretender he has apparently kept in reserve, he’s still one of the biggest players in the game.

As Dave said, i do have an Nature global up. What i actually intend to do with it is probably a good question. :)

Marignonian provinces have been invaded by, quite literally, every nation in the world. Our sturdy provincial defenders of the faith now have cojones of steel.

Only in this game could a nation with 6 provinces and its capital under seige be referred to as “one of the biggest players”. I think anyone with 2 pointy sticks stands a chance to win.

Blood hunting became an unaffordable luxury some 10 turns ago, making it hard to mass anything. And if by “in reserve” you mean “dead” then yes, she was cleverly being held in reserve since the Grand Pythium Debacle.

Reports suggest that massing Vine Ogres is high on your list.

Thanks for continuing this thread. Makes me want to play sooooooo badly but I still barely have time enough to breath! :(

I’m pretty sure I erred in using Principes instead of Velites against C’tis. Seems like having more troops with less encumbrance would be better against undead hordes than fewer, more heavily-armored troops.

I am impressed that C’tis, who I’m pretty sure I could have crushed with a few more turns of pressure, now seems to have far and away the most provinces. So lesson of the day: Crush people when you have the chance or they’ll come back and bite you in the ass.

That sounds reasonable to me. Those Principes sure did hold out a long time, and they killed about 30 death gems worth of Pale Riders.

I think it all came down to that fight we just had where we attacked each other on the same turn. I was taken aback that you attacked me.

Truer words were never said!
