Q23Tyrande aka The Ermorian Menace. Ermor is tossing it’s weight around and making things difficult for everyone.
Q23Cradle - Mictlan seems to be stirring things up. Why, I’m not sure, but we’ll see how it goes.
Q23Europe - Moving along.
Q23AranWars - Seem to be some conflicts going on. Hard to say who’s getting the best of them tho. Currently C’tis is at peace.
Q23FeedingFrenzy - Machaka is an interesting race to play. By interesting I mean, I’m sure I’m not playing them well.
QT3WorldWar (T’ien C’hi): Dominioned out, damnit. I didn’t expand or build armies fast enough in this game, and got run out of my main capital by Caleum (the real WMD holders in this game). Lots of big armies floating around Asia. Good Game, all, and watch out for Pangaea :)
QT3BackovCradle (T’ien C’hi): I’ve got Vanheim mostly subjuciated, but their capitol fortress is being rebuilt faster than my army can take it down. Time to move another army in. Ermor is, well, a kinder, gentler undead beast in this game. Way up here in the NE, I don’t see anyone besides Ulm and the now AI Pythium.
QT3LavaLamp (Man:Last of the Pulp Fiction): Nice, quick expansion game. Have run into Mictlan, Jotenheim, and Manchaka. Lots of indies left to munch on, though. Does Marcellous Wallace look like a bitch to any of you?
Backov Cradle (Ulm):
The little pocket of Ulmian resistance is still holding out. When will Ermor deliver the goods?
And you other nations, didn’t you watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers? If you did, you know what I want to tell you:
You’re next! You’re next!
Qt3 NoobAran(Vanheim):
Man is staling and staling while getting ripped apart by Atlantis. Abysia is nearly done feeding on the AI controlled Pangaea and I’m not sure what the super power is up to next. Ulm is caught in the middle, and they’re also caught up in keeping Atlantis occupied. And Vanheim tries to survive while sending their troops to the watery depths… I can’t say I’m playing to win this.
Cradle 2(Pythium):
Finally T’ien Ch’i attacked. The tally so far: One battle won be me, one by the statue worshippers. This could become quite interesting: I’ve spent about 30 turns not expanding at all (including a little Mictlan skirmish), while T’ien Ch’i is attacking because he can’t find another place to expand further. I guess I should have sent some spies their way in order to check their size, but in that game I was just too stingy/short of gold.
At least I’m one immortal hero ahead! Har har har har, good bye, Master of the Iron Crotch! Har har har.
Information on my other games was not cleared by my information ministry.

Backov Cradle (Marignon): I just killed Ermor’s Pretender, if it matters to you. Of course she’s immortal and wasn’t equipped, so its not much of a victory, but at least i sent her packing.
Cradle 2 (Tien Chi): :)
That was what I refer to as a win-win scenario. I wanted a free ride back to my capitol and you were nice enough to provide one.

QT3-WorldWar (Pangaea) - Watch out fer lil’ ol’ me? I’m flattered since this is my first MP game but, frankly, I’d hardly think I’m more of a threat than the veteran Dom playahs out there, working on getting their nigh invincible SC munchkins out in the field!! :?
QT3-AranWars (Machaka) - I got stomped quickly in this one as two nations were putting the squeeze on me from east and west. BUt it seems they have their own problems now and I’m hoping to just get back on my feet a bit before they come back.
QT3-NewbEuropa (Man) - This one hosts slowly and I keep forgetting what’s going on.
I’m having fun in all of the games but I finally witnessed my first munchkin SC rip through an entire (seeimngly strong) army) and it’s a bit discouraging since I’m not sure how to counter it yet, or even if I’m able… The tides can turn ridiculously fast in this game if you’re clueless about the late stages of the game. :(

Doh, another game thrown out of whack by a player going MIA.
Backov-Cradle (Arco): Finally managed to deal a blow to Pangaea, killing about 250 carrion creatures and taking a fortress from him. Maybe now he’s gonna show me what he’s been doing with all his gems :)
Qt3WorldWar (C’tis): Abysia is down to its capital, Pythium is hurting and I can’t decide where to go next. Anybody want to hire a nation of bored lizards?
Qt3Tyrande (Vanheim): Attacking Ermor. I’d hate to lose to an AI.
qt3aranwars: jotunheim annoys me with his wyrm pretender. He learned pretty quickly though that sending giants vs hydras== lots of full hydra bellies :D .
Ulm has been massing troops on my borders. But I´m confident that my hydras scare him off.
qt3jm-rainbow: ermor is cool, only a few turns played, but I already really like the feel of that nation.
Ermor is fast becoming one of my favorite nations. They are such a devastating curveball for people who aren’t used to them and aren’t expecting them. I love swarming people with longdead and then just when they get their anti-undead forces lined up you hit them with living mercs or living summons. Then you swarm them with longdeads some more :D
Add in the fact that Ermor is effectively raid-proof and I just have tons of fun with them.
well I chose the soul gate theme. those wraith lords are pretty nice scs for 15 death gems.
Another thing I like is that noone really wants to attack you. You can´t gain much by attacking their provinces and most of my commanders are invulnerable anyway, so that makes for a nice defense force.
Btw do you set your provinces to 100+ taxes with ermor, even if you have no patrollers handy? The population dies anyway, but if unrest gets too high, you make less money. So is there an optimum?
I always go for 200 taxes. if I have troops there, I set them to pillage. The goal is to drive the population to 0 as fast as possible. At 0 population, 200 taxes doesn’t product unrest but does product double income from mines/arenas. At 0 population there is 0 supplies and invading armies are given the maximum starvation, which is something I always like to see. When playing Ermor I always let invading armies get a few provinces deep on me before swatting them. Gives them time to let the hunger really set in. Rembember undead kids, starvation not only gives out afflictions, it also lowers morale!

But keep in mind no one with a lick of sense forgets the supply when they go into Ermorian territory.
Ermor can be a bitch to deal with, that’s for sure.
Sure, but the starvation barrier prevents heavy raiding. The only forces that come into 0-suppy territory are either equipped with supply items or suicide forces. The suicide forces are easily repulsed because they tend to be cheap. The more serious forces take some doing to repulse but they tend to be infrequent. I’ve never been the victim of a 4 pronged assault as Ermor because it’s so hard to build/equip an army properly for hitting Ermor on the 0-supply homefront.
This means that the Ermorian players needs to build one or two serious defense forces (usually composed of very little undead) to combat the serious raiders and defense is therefore assured. Since Ermor usually has a nasty powerful pretender there is a defence force right there. Some Vine Ogres or Spring Hawks or Clockwork Horrors or whatnot will round out the defense forces neatly. Trying to equip an Ermor invasion force to deal with enemies that may include hordes of undead or may include small groups of elite magical creatures or may include powerful immortal BALUTs teleporting in, all in a 0-supply environment, is very challenging to say the least.

I think Nick has really hit it on the head. The thing with Ermor is not that it can’t be beaten, it’s just that beating Ermor requires you to really revamp your entire army/strategy wholesale, which is difficult to do unless you get the rest of the nearby nations into an alliance. (If you’re spending all your cash on temples and priests and all your gems on forging anti-undead and supply items, you’re leaving yourself open to a non-undead enemy.) That’s what makes me think Ermor is overpowered compared to the rest of the nations. Add in the fact that death is one of the more flexible magic schools and you’ve got a pretty powerful package.
qt3-jmrainbow(ermor): luck is utterly worthless, it´s turn 7 with luck3 and I get this message:
an unexpected event has occured in ermor: a necromancer and his host has attacked your province in search for magical treasure.
of course my lousy ghost pd had no chance against the ghoul horde. So I must waste a turn trashing that punk.

Ulm is massing troops on Ulm’s borders to discourage any “regrettable accidents” arising from “temporary loss of control” over those hydras.
Incidentally, it’s amazing how many scouts you pick up when you have border forces actively patrolling all the time. Seems like every turn there’s another couple guys without valid passports being picked up by the local authorities.

I was experimenting with some pretender designs for Man. I picked the Arch Druid (the guy on the horse with recuperation), named him Arthur, picked dominion and so on, hit “Ready”. It gave him the titles of “Guardian of the Law” and “the Once and Future King”.
How cool is that? I’m saving that file.
qt3aranwars: check hall of fame, jotunheims pretender. A nice little cross. He wandered too far in my terroritory, I attacked the province he was sitting in, smashed the pd and the poor wyrm fled. Well nowhere to run baby :D .
qt3jm-rainbow: funny, last turn a random necromancer event attacked my capitol, I killed him of course, so this turn a necromancer shows up with his ghouls, offering his help  .

Did anyone else notice that this time hosted too quickly? I usually am pretty careful on the timing, and could swear that I had until late tonight to get the turn done on the 48 hour clock. Yet when I submitted my turn, it had already generated and told me I had a stale turn.
I checked the server logs. 48 hours on the nose between hostings. The email from the last turn might have been held up a bit in transit, so it may have appeared to be less than 48 hours between turn notifications but the turn interval 48 hours exactly.
