I think it appears again on TOP of the castle, so you get to keep killing it over and over forever (or until you drop the seige). I know that when you summon a dead God they drop on top of castles and not in them…
Hmmm, you think it will be the attacker or the defender?
I ask because this pretender is a F9/A9 phoenix that has been a thorn in my side for ages and does considerable damage to my armies if he’s allowed to cast. Luckily, my armies include flying devils so as long as I’m the defender I get to gank him before he can cast. Perhaps I’ll set up a few test scenarios in SP. It’s such a specialized situation that I’ve never come up against it before.
SHIRLEY.
Sorry everyone, had computer issues all week.
Turn 53 no up…48 hours till host.
He should be the attacker since you “own” the province at this point (the game seems to seperate above and in forts as different layers of ownership). So when it appears it should appear as the “attacker”.
All contigent on it not appearing inside the castle. The game handles god-respawn and immortality somewhat differently, although both are linked to the capital.
Pretty sure that’s wrong. You’re outside the fort if you’re patrolling or seiging, that’s all. Anything else is done inside. Respawn (whether calling god or immortality) is inside unless the fort has been previously captured.
Might be worth testing, but I’m 90% sure this is how it works.
What Rollory said is correct.

We seem to be down again?
Server is booting up now, I’ll have game up in a few minutes. Sorry about that, server went down to another ninja incident.
Dude, increase the province defense around your server, and install the Ring of Warning and assign it some bodyguards.
Thanks for hosting :D
I think I (Mictlan) might be done in Hoplite. I started on the edge of the map neighboring a forest with a Great Mother and a zillion vine men, and by the eighth turn Vanheim, with a full-glamer army and a W9 blessing, had declared war on me.
Vanheim now has at very least 4 or 5 forts that I can see, pumping out blessed glamer armies every turn. He’s started in the middle of a huge swath of land, while I started with maybe five indie territories I could possibly conquer.
So yeah. Any new games starting? I don’t want Mictlan.
Dude, I’m not THAT uber. I wish I had the cash to pump out troops at each fort - remember, my sacreds are capital only? Also, Vanheim’s research sucks - the only cost-effective researcher, the dwarf, is capital only. I’m distinctly second tier compared to the other two Heims and C’tis - jeez, look at C’tis’s number of provinces (#2), income (#2) gem income (a very close #3), research (#1!) and army size (#1 by a mile). Any one or two of those would be ominous, but all of them put together?
Aren’t you pumping out more sacreds? Mictlan with a decent bless is an above average nations for stopping the broken glamer cavalry crap.
He is, and I started the war at a numerical disadvantage, he just got a really unlucky location with dirt-poor swamp provinces and little room to expand. Early Vanheim’s cavalry is non-sacred - and at most half my force is sacred anyway. Even then, I didn’t go with an uber bless partly because I didn’t want to be too cheesy. :)
(P.S. I didn’t choose this nation; it was randomly allocated.)

Dom 10, F9W9 Eagle Warriors are some of the coolest units in the game. Even B9D9 Eagles are pretty good. Jaguars are decent, they’re good because you can build them everywhere and are not expensive. Sun Temple Warriors are just average 12 prot infantry.
Has anyone tried a 6-Astral, 6-Earth Sirrush? That’s a pretty cool pretender with Rings of Regen and Invigoration. One of the best trampling units in the game actually. Just do the Body Ethereal/Luck/Stoneskin/Summon Earthpower/Astral Shield thing, and have at it. I’m not certain if that’s enough to beat F9/W9 Van armies, but it probably would at least survive for a few turns and tank for your armies. With decent equipment it’s much better than a Dragon, imo. Well… maybe not a Water Dragon with Quickness/Trident/Invigoration/Horned Hat. Maybe :).
I wish I could, but as Mind Elemental confirms, my starting location isn’t wealthy enough for it.
Plus the super-stealthiness of glamer kind of leaves me with only a pair of options: bumrush and hope I can win the inevitable clash between uberarmies, likely losing my capitol in the process, or turtle and… I dunno, wait to die I guess, lol.
I just want to say I must have the worst luck with multiplayer turn-based strategy games. I played a Civ4 map a little while ago where I started on a three-tile long, one-tile wide peninsula, one tile of which was desert. And I didn’t play a nation that started with Fishing. Good game.

hmm is anybody able to help me with squidz? Im not able to connect to the game. I am using 75.73.124.21 and 8080… was there a change recently?
All of Mictlan’s sacreds are too fragile, requiring the use of quantity over quality and accepting big losses from every major engagement. So from a practical standpoint Mictlan sacred strategies must be built around Jaguar warriors, despite them not being as cool as Eagle Warriors. The exception of course being small maps, where everything is going to get settled with early rushes of capitol only sacreds.

Yes, that’s why I put ‘froggyfish.net’ in there, as I keep my domain updated with my IP changes :) It’s 75.73.233.57 now.
Well, yea, but … well, Eagles fly. Freebird! And have two attacks. With Dom10 you can mass Eagles very easily; at least 10 a turn. They’re also cheaper than Jags.
Not that you don’t needs Jags, you know. But by turn 20 you can have possibly 200 Eagles. It’s all theorycraft but still :). What i mean is that you shouldn’t EVER build Jags out of your capital when you can build Eagles instead.
Also, i don’t feel quite so cheesy taking Dual-Bless with Mictlan, since their standard units really, really suck.
Also also, you can take the Lord of Night, which in the Gandalf Parker School of Silly Strategies ™ is the best assassin in the game. Heck, you don’t even need equipment most of the time, as you get those bats.
I’ve always thought dual bless was a waste of points with Mictlan. Their sacreds die so easily. Taking any sort of defensive bless seems a waste since they still will die so easily. I generally go with F9/B5 (or B4, or B6), and the B5 is only because I want a pretender who can easily cast the higher level blood spells with a few booster items.
