Sorry Hetzer its all my fault anyway…

I went computer controlled in Hoplite after my primary army got squashed by 140ish glamer W9 blessed troops.

I threw all my gems (~200 or so?) to C’tis out of spite.

Again, no more than half of them were sacreds. :)

Still, thanks for the game, DRT!

Nah cant be helped… as the old saying goes it isnt the weapon its the man behind it…

You’ve taken all but two or three of my “home provinces”, and had my capitol and other fortress under seige - yes, I’d call that a pretty damn solid punch! And it nicely takes advantage of the fact that helheim’s position is very stretched out, with most of my troops over by Arco. I think it is going to be very “interesting” for me, in a Chinese interesting times sort of way. I think I’d definetly prefer to have your more compact set up - you can reinforce any part of your empire quickly, and it is contiguous. Blech.

If it’s any consolation, none of the troops who hit you when I staged my capitol break out were new - unless you were planning to move away from my capitol, that probably would have happened anyway. Still, yeesh - you had 25 sacreds killed, and I lost about 40 summons and maybe a half dozen sacreds. Nothing I tried there worked at all.

Okay, which of you jokers dispelled my gift of health? I know it couldn’t have been Pangaea because he doesn’t have astral and I’m at peace with everyone else.

Good luck getting the answer to that question. :)

(sorry couldn’t resist =) )

Yoo, i was wondering myself why you attacked arco… thats really far away… i like my kingdom close at hand… your armies will take what? 5 - 6 turns to reach the HKL? (For those nongerman military speakers: HKL Hauptkampflinie (the place where the fighting is))

High battle line? Front battle line?

In english “the front” ;)

Well, I was convinced that you and I had a deal to work together until the end game, and you had asked me not to take on Ulm (who had been a perfectly nice neighbor). I didn’t want to get bogged down in taking out Kailassa, and I couldn’t go underwater, so that pretty much left Arco, who had two globals up, and who seemed to be the source of the constant stream of seeking arrows hitting my capital.

Of course, now that I’m under seige in my home province, and you’ve taken just about everything I’ve got east of the mountains, that seems like not such a good idea. On the propaganda front - a clear victory for Vanheim - everyone is convinced that Helheim is the biggest threat, which I think has been shown to be false. Still, hard to fault the logic, since ganging up on the 'heims pretty much always makes sense in Dom3 MP.

I think I’m just bitter because even with the overwhelming advantage that Helheim represents, I still wasn’t able to do much with it.

Hey who is trying now to turn the propagandafront? ;)

It should be main battle line… but HKL sounds more militaristic, envision an old prussian officer who snares to some retreating forces: “und wo glauben Sie das die HKL ist? Zurück ins Glied Marsch Marsch!” - "and where do you believe is the HKL? back to the front, advance! "

You took me out of the game easily enough.

Well i’m close to getting a Single Player map chosen, if i ever get some time, for my little Single Player contest.

How does playing Agartha on Dawn of Dominions with Mighty AI sound? I would choose Impossible, but i think you have to build your Pretender with fighting AI in mind, and i wanted something more generic to let players go in different direction.

Like the Ageless Olm?

I don’t know what anything you said means but I do know that I’m still interested in this contest!

So now that the Heim pretty much have me in Hoplite, who is starting the next game?

Any suggestions for taking out the Heim in the future? I don’t know all of the blessings, but their sacreds are at least F9. They have defense skill of 22-26. I don’t know what to do about that as Ulm without much access to anything beyond Earth and Nature. I’m guessing maybe they aren’t that useful. Or I need to specialize my pretender more. I had enough to get second level Sacred bonuses in Earth and first in Nature. It does nothing to compare to the Heim calvary. I summoned up some Cave Drakes…they can take the hits for awhile due to their high protection, but they don’t deal damage for anything, so all it really does is slow the Heim sacreds down.

After all the fun I’ve had in Bandar with aquatic assaults I’m toying with the idea of whipping up an islands map and getting a game going on that. Everyone starts on their own 10-15 province island, no underwater nations allowed. I think it would bea fun but very different sort of game, since there would be no early conflict at all until people researched enough construction magic to get the air or water items that allow moving troops into the sea.

This is still a pretty rough idea, would anyone be interested in playing on such a map?

Yes. Actually this sounds a lot like the standard setup for games of Empire.

When you say “no aquatics” though, does that mean just ruling out Atlantis/Rlyeh/Oceania, or also the land-based nations with some amphibious troops (like Agartha or Patala)? And what about national seafarers? - they make it easier for those particular nations.

Don’t forget the undead-spawning nations; one of LA Ermor’s big advantages is easy access to underwater provinces. But any setup has its advantages and disadvantages; it’s the players’ responsibility to figure this stuff out, and makes for half the fun. I’d play if I wasn’t in too many games already.

Dominions doesn’t really work well with Island maps. You’d need some kind of scripted “portal” province that could take you to the main Continent or something over which the various players would do battle. This is pretty easy to do with Warcraft 3. Not so much with Dominions. There just aren’t enough aquatic troops, imo, and on an Island map taking air/water/astral are all but essential, and factions without any of these are at a pretty big disadvantage, imo. Also races like Ermor would be much tougher.

To me this game sounds like the “Race to Utterdark”, but that’s imo.

This shouldn’t stop you from trying though! But i strongly suspect the outcome here.
