Androphag:
"
Pangaea’s all washed up in this game"
If that’s true, I’d be willing to surrender to the might of Agartha. I’ll have to check the latest turn but I suspect it won’t be a massive turnaround.
(ok, posting now in the proper place =) )
Guys, would it be ok if we remove 48h timer from Lictor until Monday? I am not sure if I will be able to make new turn over weekend, since I will be mostly out of town.

Androphag:
Now that I’ve seen the turn, I’ve surrendered to agartha’s might and set myself to AI. My piddly little main army was wiped out with almost no casualties to Agartha.
Is there a sub for Morkilus in Bandar, or should we just turn the timer off until he gets back from Death Valley?
If Abysia and Pangea are dead, then so is Ulm.
Early Ulm is so pathetic when it comes to mages, although I’m guessing most of the early nations are bad with magic. I ruined myself with a terrible, horrible pretender build, and then I proceeded to play badly with him.
I can’t connect to Androphag, but when I can I’ll set to AI.

It’s reset. My bad, router hijinx ensued earlier and I didn’t check the server afterwards.
Good thing I refresh Qt3 rabidly…

Is there a formality of declaring Agartha the winner in this game? His last 3 opponents have conceded after the previous turn.
Well played Mercutio.
Well I’ve just gone AI, the computer can preside over my retreats from the Agarthan juggernaut as well as I could.
I’m impressed by the amount of damage Agartha did to me in just three turns. Constant death magic on all my provinces to reduce the populations to trace amounts (my capitol went from 35k to 4k), 8-10 earth elemental assasinations per turn, golems teleporting around my kingdom picking off provinces, it was all a very well coordinated attack.
My income has been halved, my research quartered, and I’ve yet to dent their invasion force in any way, so I shall concede that this game is most likely Agarthas and bow out. Well played.
Nice game Nick. Once we all realized that you were all by yourself on that island, it was always easy to have nightmares about what would happen when you broke out. You had the misfortune to have fought a long stalemate vs. Pangaea. By the time you got the upper hand the game was down to just 3 other relevant land nations. I thought about attacking T’ien Ch’i and meeting you in the middle (and TC had actually declared war on me just before your first decisive victory), but the thought of you having free reign to blood hunt in the remnants of Pangaea was just too scary.
So TC, Pan and Agartha banded together and hatched the plot that lead to the invasion by sea / black death barrage. TC propped up Pan with gold and air gems and built pocket ships for me, while I summoned and equipped the D5 mages I needed.
But this hardly gives the game to Agartha. R’lyeh has grown fat and happy under the sea, and has been able to pick off the weak land nations as well. R’lyeh actually owns more land capitals than any land nation does. It is going to be hell to try and root him out.
Ah ha!
I figured somebody had to be subsidizing him, I couldn’t figure out how I could keep destroying so many troops and he’d be right back with more. An alliance against me explains it all.
Also, it was a masterstroke of diplomacy for you to paint me as the bad guy and get everyone ganged up on me. I really wasn’t very scary because no matter how much prep time I had, the bare fact of the matter was that I possessed little in the way of gems with which to do mischief. My island wasn’t rich in sites or money. Somebody oversold the threat I reprsented.
I’m a little surprised that you didn’t ever reach out to me (Tien Chi) diplomatically. I’m not sure what I would have said, even if you had.
Well, N turns ago when I went AI I warned all remaining players that Agartha is on the brink of winning the game, unless powerful alliance would be formed immediately to stop it.
Agartha tried to play coy of course, claiming I was not being objective, et cetera, but it turned out I was right. >;)

How long have you been waiting to do that?

Wimps. The original Dominion 2 thread still has 10 pages more than this one!
I thought about it, but I actually didn’t know you were there until somewhat recently. My problem really was my island starting location. Great for getting a lot of research done early in relative safety, not so great for scouting. I didn’t want to risk too many rings of water breathing on scouts because I didn’t have a lot of water gems and I needed every one to get the sea king goblets that were my key for getting off the island.
Frankly, in the end, I’m impressed I accomplished much as I did. I got a bad starting location, my long term dream plan to team with Rlyeh never happened because Rlyeh players kept switching, and I had the bad luck to come ashore against a high bless Pangaea who wasn’t at war with anyone. If I hadn’t had to fight tooth and nail for every province in my beachhead and instead had come up in the backfield of somebody already embroiled in a war I could have grabbed some provinces and set up shop for the blood hunting machine I wanted to get going. Sadly didn’t happen though.
Can’t win em all though, and an extra compliment to Jeff for stonewalling me so long and so effectively as Pangaea. Well played indeed.
