Damn it. Just when I’ve learned how to use Rollory’s Astral Corruption to my advantage and have launched a massive attack on Ulm. :(((

So much efforts for nothing.

If Rollory is out and Ulm is set to AI, and with Giants de-facto wiped out by my nation, I don’t think there is any potential opposition left to me in the game. Althought it is not the type of victory I would like to achieve.

If this is the case, I would vote to stop the game, unless Ermor and Marington would like to continue. It’s a pity though.

Is there a way to tell how much damage a poison attack does? It seems that it does x amount of damage, which is then spread over 10 turns, each turn the unit gets x/10 points of damage (rounded in some way, I guess). It seems that the total poison damage shows up as a little green bar under the unit, and I guess (don’t know for sure) as the unit takes actual damage over the battle the green bar goes down and the red bar goes up.

However, how do you tell how much damage an attack with, say a Snake Bladder Stick does vs. venomous fangs, or any of the other poison attacks? Does anything besides poison resistance stop a poison attack?

Stealth edit: Wow. Sorry to hear that Rollory. That’s terrible.

I’m obviously not going to oppose you, I gave you all my money and gems last turn because I thought the Ulmish armies were about to eliminate me :)

So continuation would be up to the other players, I’m fine with voting you the winner and calling it over.

Just let it die. Either we name Ulm victor, as the superior nation, or R’lyeh as the superior non-AI nation. Either way, this is over.

Didn’t you read your instruction manual?

Page 78, “…for each round, the unit will take 10% of the remaining damage.” The same page describes the process in detail. At least 1 damage will always be done. Thats pretty much it.

If we use Parganos I think we should up the gold rate, as it’s a bit starved of cash.

Update:

Still waiting on pretenders from wahoo and Mike O’Malley to get this game going. If you sent them already, my spam filter must have ate them so send them again.

My bad, I’ve been skimming and thought we were waiting for the patch.

Nick: I sent it Monday night but just resent it at approximately 4pm est. Let me know if you don’t get it and I’ll try again.

wahoo

I still don’t have it.

I just sent you a new email from a different addy, try replying to that.

HELP AGAIN!

So I still haven’t figured out what is kicking my ass in one of my qt3 games but its happened again. I’ve decided to post screenshots in the hopes that one of you might have a clue what is killing all my casters.

As you can see in this first picture, at first it looks like Holy Avenger but then it turns into napalm. I was hit by Holy Avenger multiple times earlier in the battle and it does the standard, one square of damage - the beam could be just a coicidence.

As you can see in the second picture (which occurs seconds later), the napalm has spread to the rest of my caster line.

Naturally, I lost them all. Luckily I only took in half as many as last time. I went through the entire casting list of the battle and couldn’t find anything suspicious. In addition it clearly looks like some sort of fire magic and I’m not supposed to be hurt by it.

I’d be happy to fraps the entire battle if anyone is curious.

Any ideas?

Super helpful. I guess RTFM didn’t make the 5 character minimum.

Questions unanswered - how much base damage does Death Poison do? Weak Poison? Strong poison? Do they stack? Feel free to cite page numbers if I missed it in the manual.

Some high level fire spell i’ve never seen before? You are playing against Abysia.

Can you somehow record a video of the combat and try zooming in on his casters (if he has any?).

I thought he was Abyssia, he’s not playing against them.

Obviously someone is calling in orbital strikes on your back line.

BlairFraser,

it looks like your mages are casting phoenix pyre and then getting hit by something and detonating. But without a video it is hard to say.

I do believe you are correct, I recently acquired Phoneix Pyre in Alteration though I’ve never scripted it. Some of my newer casters didn’t have their full scripting orders assigned and cast it during the battle when their initial ones were completed. Thanks so much.

I hate to be Captain Obvious, but have you stepped through the fight with the background turned off? Might help you see something you would otherwise miss.

Turn 78 or so…

Caelum, long abandoned by its ruler, their home province conquered first by Helheim, and then taken by Ulm, has finally been completely eliminated. They had one remaining province with half a dozen air mages, that had somehow escaped the attention of both Helheim and Kailassa. Ulm has seen to them.

Arcocephale, battling the remnants of Helheim, has finally gone AI. At the fall of Hellheim, they were offered a deal, but wanted to fight it out to the last. Several large battles could have gone either way, but what really brought Arco down was that their Titan, with high Air and Earth, came back from the dead with the mute affliction, and despite Arco’s healing abilities never recovered. A nice run by Arco though, with a Gale Gate, Ether Gate, a few Abominations, and the global that gave them phantom warriors added on to PD.

Kailassa now battles against Ulm and Vanheim in the north, while Ermor has moved against Vanheim in the south. Vanheim has a Well of Misery in place, and a rain of Seeking Arrows follows the enemies of Vanheim. Ulm has the Forge of the Ancients up and running, while Argatha has just opened the Earthblood well (forget the exact name).

I haven’t gone AI yet; I’ll be destroyed next turn, though.

What brought me down was my relative inexperience in fighting late-game battles, I think. I simply didn’t know how to set up an effective force from the units and spells I had available, and therefore lost all important battles. Given my extensive magic research, I feel there was a lot more I could have done, even though my Pretender wasn’t very useful at the end.

Escaped attention!! They kicked my sorry monkey ass… I figured after that it was best to leave them there as a buffer, a job they performed admirably until Ulm finally killed them off.

Kailasa now finds itself in a bit of a spot… Ulmish and Vanish armies appraoch my capital from two directions… lord knows if my army has the oomph to keep them at bay. I suspect not…
