Well, as soon as I win a Dom3 game, I’ll be a bit more sympathetic to your plight, I’m sure. :P

Perhaps your skills stayed on the same high level but the others skills did rise up to the task? Anyway sometimes its pure luck to survive the first storm of adversaries. So dont despair, maybe next time?

Side effect of Banefire being Late Age and me rewriting the parser to use the new values. I’ll try to fix it tonight (busy busy).
Actually,I’ve been thinking about it for a while and I’m really tired of this game. Wrapping up AI Arco is just a pain in the ass and I have not been having fun for awhile.
I just went AI myself, hope it doesn’t make me a bad person…I think TC probably could be declared winner but perhaps you undersea guys have more than I know about. Thank you all for playing.
Good on you for going AI. I always applaud someone who does that vs the people who just disappear off the face of the earth and leave a nation staling.
Sorry about that LLoyd. :(
I had a good battle while we went at it, but my empire slowly but surely crumbling from the inside. It wasn’t pretty and was hard to play each turn. :)

Bravo Llyod well done. I’m enjoying Squidz simply b/c I’ve been locked in a war with Ulm for about the entire game. Was reduced to 4 provinces but I’ve fought back. Have no chance of winning just enjoying the fight and learning a bit.
nick: how about a report from the lanka/pan war?
Yeah,it was fun then. But the AI seems to flee or counter attack a weak province every time you close in for the kill. I don’t know if it scouts very well or cheats…

Sorry guys but my internet connection broke this day… im not able to reach the net for a few days… could you please stop lanka/dawn of dominions and squidz (har har). Sorry for the hold up, my provider will send me a new modem, it could take a few days.
I’ll make sure Lanka doesn’t host.
The Lan-Pan war has ground to a temporary stalemate. Lanka’s reinforcements plus his capital PD were able to beat my army with only some losses.
I feel I am in better shape economically since I hold all the land around my capital and whereas Lanka does not, however at this early stage of the game of course it is very difficult to predict the outcome.
Any updates on what’s going on in Shirley? As the former Mictlan (and first to be eliminated, I think), I’d love to know what happened…
Damn you man! I have fire mens just waiting to burn things! Burn! :)
Now I have to wait another turn for the demon lord.
Dammit.
I believe I (Ulm), Quaro (Oceania) and Sepiche (Abysia) are the Big Three in this game. Other nations are still present, but we’ve had a fair number of dropouts, and some folks may just be biding their time to see where the chips fall.
Ulm and Oceania are currently in an all-out war, which I am finding a little difficult to prosecute due to the undersea aspect of most of the enemy’s holdings. I’m doing better in Shirley than any of the six other games I’ve been involved in so far, but as we move into the late stage I don’t have a solid strategy – all of my multiplayer Dom III games have been learning experiences for me, and although I love the game to death I’ve never been a good min/maxer, so I won’t be surprised if I lose this one in the end.
I’ve had a good income all game, and managed to cast Forge of the Ancients and that global that adds mechanical men to the PD of all provinces within my domain, but both of those were recently dispelled. Forge of the Ancients was great because all of my smiths were able to churn out magic items super cheaply, and I was even able to make a number of unique items, which I’d never done before. I used a bunch of water gems to empower a smith to be able to make Sea King Goblets, which has given me some ability to hit the tritons where they live. Oceania’s killer threat so far has been an archer-heavy land army that is sweeping through my border territories with the murderous Flaming Arrows/Wind Guide enchantment combo. He’s also managed to build up quite a horde of mechanical men.
So far Shirley has been the most fun for me to play, mostly because I’ve held on long enough to see some of my early strategies play out to good effect. Don’t know how long my ride’s going to last, though. Right now I’m worried about what sort of high-level magic Oceania is preparing to spring on me.
Today this thread has passed the length of the Dom2 thread. INCONCEIVABLE!
This thread cheated a little though. The dom2 megathread was mostly AAR stuff. It spawned many child threads about specific games and so forth. The dom3 thread on the other hand has no spawn, it is a one stop shop for all your QT3 dom3 needs.

“The Lan-Pan war has ground to a temporary stalemate. Lanka’s reinforcements plus his capital PD were able to beat my army with only some losses.”
Go Lanka, go! At the very least even if you prevail in the end, it won’t be quite as big of lead for Pan. I’m guessing that your army took a beating and Lanka can counteract from his capital. Should be an interesting skirmish there.
Maverni has had an interesting go. Seems all my indy targets are hiding a lot of heavy cavalry behind the militia/light inf/archers. tough row for me to hoe. and I have a pretender capital 4 squares away from me.
That isn’t cheating, that’s upgraded functionality.
Yeah, I’m down to only my capitol which has unrest problems from all the battles so my income and resources aren’t so hot. I’ve got enough sacreds now though that I’m not going to be a pushover like I was in the first wave of combats when my army was split into small indy-hunting groups.
This one is far from over!
