I’m mildly annoyed that they discounted it approximately a week after I ordered my copy, but them’s the breaks. Besides, it actually having arrived yesterday helps dull the pain somewhat. ;) Now, to find a game.

Squidz

Atlantis (i.e., me) finally went AI. I have too many things going on right now (moving across country, new job) to keep up with the turns, and I don’t want to slow the actual players down. Apologies, but I was underwater anyway :P

Yes, that means that at some point both games (Banefire too) will need to become suspended for a few weeks while I get reconnected.

Is this the only Qt3 game still going from when Dom3 first came out?

Agartha is all up in my grill, with a 400 unit army sitting just outside my capital. I assume they are pausing to feast on my villagers. A big battle between us, featuring 100’s of deaths (mostly Blade Winds killing my elite, but poorly armored, units), took place last turn. It looked like my army would carry the day when suddenly it routed en masse (no idea why).

I have three globals, Pangaea has one, and Agartha has none. Is this a sign that he is reaching the limit of his resources? Or is he so strong that he can’t even be bothered to cast a spell?

<burp!> Excuse me - be with you in a moment.

It was a long battle. It might have reached turn 50 (the attacking side hears their mothers calling them home for dinner at turn 50).

Bandar Log might go AI as well. This game is more or less a fight between AI. I believe the Giants are the only major power that is human controlled!

Peltast - Sauromatia - turn 112

With Niefelheim marginalized, Abysia has decided that he would make his grab at the brass ring, opening up a new front in the south. He was able to take Helheim’s former capital with ease, however a rain of remote spells has crippled his army there and killed his Kings of Elemental fire. In the meantime, I have brought his capital under siege while I start to work out a larger plan for bringing this new and somewhat unexpected war to a swift conclusion.

Abysia is the last major power in the game… his destruction would complete my victory. My scouts show me that my empire is both larger and considerably better developed… simple attrition I beleive will carry the day, even if nothing else does.

Lanka - Pangea - turn 25

Much less successful in this game ;) The triumphant forces of Marveni roam my territory at will… only my capital remains, hemmed in by large armies. The final assault cannot be long in coming. We will make these celts pay in blood!! May they choke on our lands…

Dawn of Dominions - turn 91

Another disaster… Ulm has overrun my resurgent empire and my final two forts are under siege and about to fall. My only ally, Helheim, is under unbearable pressure and will not likely survive. No one will remember what happened here except that few stood against many. That is what is important!

We should all go AI and see who wins!

Are you still alive in that game? That may rank up there with my Lictor revival as most unexpected survival to the late game phase. Didn’t I have you reduced to one province, which was your capitol under siege, inside of turn 15?

Yup by the grace of Helheim I survived and even expanded at the expense of Acrosephele later on… I actually managed to rebuild a decent empire with a fairly strong army, but Um came at me with all the stops pulled and overran me pretty quick ;)

So, what else is going on in Lanka?

How is Marverni winning? I’m flabbergasted and rather scared. Marverni is (imo) without any doubt the weakest EA nation.

Well after the first battle which he narrowly won with plenty of PD backup, I cleverly fed him my forces in dribs and drabs. Now its a simple matter of economics…

"How is Marverni winning? I’m flabbergasted and rather scared. Marverni is (imo) without any doubt the weakest EA nation.[/quote]

The key was I suckered Pan/Soapy into an attack that gutted his main force. I had about 25 troops with my prophet next to his main force. I was able to reinforce my prophet with my main army of which Soapy was apparently unaware, bump up the PD and crush the evil Pan. Then I trapped more of his forces in a fortress and took out a bunch of folks.

I’m not winning; I’m just crushing Pan b/c I got lucky that Soapy attacked the 1 turn that would have been absolutely the worst for him. And Soapy was already weakened thanks to a Lanka-Pan war that gave Marverni the upper strategic hand in our war.

Well, i have to be rooting for you there wahoo. Go Marverni! It’s fun to see even the weaker nations do well.

BTW… give me back my green horde!! /wink You better be nice to them and not get them killed… i still need them!

I fear I have started a war in Lanka. Don’t blame me, blame the fire folks. They require constant going, burning, destroying. If I didn’t succumb to their needs, what kind of God would I be…

Are you Neiflelheim?

He isn’t. But he’s trying to be. ;-)

Amen to that… I can’t be a hiem so I shall destroy those that are. Or more likely, I shall be destroyed by those that are. :)

Lanka
Fire vs. Ice! You can’t get a more fitting elemental matchup than that!

As for my little useless pecking of Winterheim;

Well, you forced my hand, unintentionally. After Dominion-killing Mictlan across the sea, i carefully crafted an expensive amphibious force to try and seize it; but when i crossed the seas, i found you already beseiging their ex-capital. At that point, after spending so many gems and mage turns, i felt obligated to try.

Also you built a temple adjacent to one of my forts, and that is bad manner.

Shirley - Oceania

Is the server down? I can’t seem to connect and upload my turn.

My magical investments at last seem to be turning the tide here. I’ve got some decent armies together with a lot of magical backing.
Hopefully I can now start grinding my way towards Ulm’s heartlands.

Bommerlunder - Man

Still going rather badly for me. Will anyone take on Midgard and take some of the pressure off?

Morkilus & Jeff - if you’ve got a scrying spell (or a handy scout), turn your evil eye on province 164. Big mega-smackdown-winner-take-all battle coming up this turn.
