Well, I may not be a n00b to the game but I haven’t played Dom in more than 18 months…and I’ve never CRUSHED anybody! I was more of a casual dabbler in Dom2 and mostly just played for some RP fun.

Besides, I did say “amateurs” welcome and I think that describes me pretty closely. :)

Yeah, I didn’t get emails either. The timer also seems to be back to 48h.

Currently, the players still in the game are Vanheim (me), Helheim, C’tis, Abysia, Ulm, Lanka, Kailasa, and R’lyeh. I’d say we’re a long way away from calling it - Helheim/C’tis/Abysia seem roughly evenly matched, with me running a close second.

Hoplite Yeah, I staled as well because I didn’t know it was hosting; it’s been on 96 hours for so long. The pace would pick up dramatically if it was moved to 48 or even 24; does anybody else mind?

I’m still playing, but I can’t take another turn until Tuesday, so my preference is a relaxed timer until that point.

I would prefer 96h myself. We’re on a biggish map with large, micro-intensive empires, and I have a couple of RL commitments tying me down.

My preference would be for a 48h timer just to move the game along - these ~1 turn per week games are a bit hard for me to keep track of. Obviously, I have no objection to delaying the game for people who have vacations etc.

I’m mindful that Lum is hosting a game that he hasn’t been a player in for ~60 turns, so perhaps we can find one time setting to keep his hosting work to a minimum.

Gentlemen of the above mentioned games…

I’ll be out of town and out of computer contact from the 16th-22nd. Hoplite I could give a fig about if it can’t be paused, but the other two I’m highly interested in and would love not to have a bunch of stale turns. In Apprentices, in specific, it would mean I lose the game.

Damn. I was delayed at work and came home two hours after the last hosting. Well, things are not looking good for the Niefels at all, so it probably wouldn’t have made any difference… :)

Hoplite is back on a 96h timer (which looked as close to a consensus as we are likely to see) and email notification should again be working.

I have a proposal that I would like to offer to the fellow Bommerlunder’s players. After careful evaluation of the situation, I think that perhaps it is time to call it a game. Frankly I don’t see how my nation could be stopped at this point.

Here is a quick summary of some aspects of my nation:

Midgard currently controls about 60% of the map. I own more than two dozens of powerful and fully equipped SCs, including 3 Air Queens, 2 Fire Kings, 1 Earth King, 6 Ice Devils, 4 Fire Devils, Heliophagus, about 8 fully healed Tartarian Titans commanders. (with 10 more tartarians waiting to get GOR). I also own 20+ mini-SC van commanders with cheap but effective equipment. I control pretty much all valuable unique artifacts. Research is lvl 9 in two schools, 7-8 in the other schools. I own tartarian factory that currently produces 3 tartarian titans per turn and have Holy Grail to heal both tartarians and injured SCs. Each turn’s income is 6500 gold, 200+ blood slaves. I am sitting on the pile of about 500 gems, and all my provinces (except farmlands) are fully searched for all 7 magic schools, giving me large gem income. I have high level mages in all magic schools, to forge me any items or cast any enchantments when I need them.

Out of my remaining enemies Abysia and Man have been de-facto defeated. They both still hold 3-4 remaining castles(most of them besieged by my troops). However they can’t venture outside of their castles or they would be instantly destroyed by teleporting SCs specifically equipped to deal with each army, as it has happened several times in the past with both of these nations. R’lyeh is being slowly pushed deeper into the sea. My most recent (and currently the most powerful) enemy Ermor is not faring too well either. Their blitzkrieg has been crashed, 3 out of their 4 huge invading armies have been completely wiped out. Undead were not able to take any of my castles, they have been pushed back to our original border and beyond, half dozen of my flying SCs are roaming in their back while my most powerful army is heading straight to the Ermor capital, taking all Ermor castles that stand in the way. It should conquer Ermor’s capital 2 turns from now, and there is nothing in Ermor’s arsenals has that could stop it.

The only remaining human nation who is not in war with me yet and whose strength has not been withered by the war (Ulm), can not make much difference at this point, simply because they are much smaller and have more limited resources. I am sure they will be able to put up a good fight, and may very well cost me some valuable troops/SCs once they enter the war, but no more than that.

The time is clearly working for me. Even if Ermor will cast the Burden of Time which I would not be able to dispel (very unlikely, since I am sitting on large stockpile of astral gems), it would not change situation much, since I rely on summoned troops and SCs to do 95% of the fighting, and I already have most commander blood summons under my control, so I won’t need many more bloodslaves.

However most of remaining enemy lands have castles, which will take forever for me to take, since most of my armies are small numbers-wise, and SCs can’t break walls. It is especially relevant for the Ermor’s territory, who castled most of his provinces. Because I would have to take them one by one, it could easily take another 20-30 turns or more. Which may be kindof boring for all people involved.

That’s why I would like to offer a honorable surrender to all remaining human nations. I think we might as well call it a game, since I believe the outcome of the game is clear at this point. But if you would prefer to continue the game that is ok with me, I will continue playing my part of course.

What will you say guys?

I intentionnally castled up to delay the SC’s and the cloaked behind the lines take over strategy so I could prepare something. I still believe I have a chance and I will know if it is possible within 10 turns (probably much less). Can we go for that long at least? If I find that my counters don’t work I will surrender.

Yeap, it was good battle, congratulations. I got a bit careless, should have tested the waters before storming your castle - I knew you have been busy summoning defenders.

I assume you are kidding. At that point my pretender does not make any difference. Not to mention that he will be back next turn anyway and 7F7W is as good as 8F8W.
