As far as I can tell from the outside, Caelum hasn’t changed at all in the past ten turns or however long it’s been. Also, I apologize for staling last turn, I forgot about it what with the holiday and some other nonsense. Then I come in this turn and find that Man has died a dominion death! It looks like Marignon’s out of control dominion growth just swallowed Man whole. How did that even happen?

Long story short, I started out with pretty good Dominion spread, and then Marignon built a bunch of temples. Me, I was still limited to one land territory. Somewhere I should have realized I was loosing dominion far to fast and should have done something about it, but I didn’t start producing priests until it was too late, i.e. every turn was a chance to Dominion kill me. Mind you my Pretender had not awoken yet. Which stinks, because between Wind Guide and Arrow Fend I’m certain I could beat Marignon in an out right battle. Problem was I had no reliable way to move a mass of archers onto the shore. Finally got a way around that, but by then by brilliant anti-Mari strategy fell apart. Arco was invaded by Pan, Caelum appears to be perpetually stalling, and Ryleh just wasn’t up to snuff.

Long story short, I’m never playing on that map again. Anyways, with all the games that appear to be ending and/or players dropping, will another game be started soon? I’d like to get in on that and hopefully have a more complete experience then my first game spent doing nothing but building researchers and sending PMs.

Sorry about that. I was unexpectantly offline during the weekend. But as you say, I am all but dead in this game anyway, so I’ve set the Niefels on AI. Good game while it lasted though… :)

Edit: Unexpected - not expected offline :)

Thanks for playing and stick it out so long. You really did have a crummy starting position, the Urraparand map can be vicious like that. With Mictlan and Pan going down fast, it basically left you encircled by powers that all considered moving centrally into your lands to be the best way to expand.

Lanka tidbit:
“You really did have a crummy starting position, the Urraparand map can be vicious like that. With Mictlan and Pan going down fast, it basically left you encircled by powers that all considered moving centrally into your lands to be the best way to expand.”

Well, the last sentence is partially true. It was also true that the Giants held a ton of territory and were rapidly expanded. They were the clear Alpha threat and everyone else ganged up on them.

I think TC got Mictlan’s capitol right, along with the Giants?

Lanka

Tien Chi dominion killed Mictlan, but was 2 turns behind Abysia in grabbing it across the ocean. Tien Chi invaded a couple of very ordinary Giant provinces, and received the full hell-bore blast of Giantopia in return. All those dead Giant heroes? All but one, or maybe all of them, due to Tien Chi.

Still Loke did a good job in expanding like hell. See you next game Loke!

So to be clear Bommerlunder is done, Apprentices also?

I will be starting a new game shortly, and suggestions about era, map, etc?

No doubt about it! Although the Hoplite turns are beginning to take a little while to do, so I’ll probably hold back a bit before joining the next one…

I’m still trying in Apprentices, but I think it’s just the Giants cleaning up at this point… Give me a few more turns to get the brunt of the attack and I’ll be sure.

I really didn’t want to risk an opposed invasion, so I decided to get my people really Believing. A lot of blood slaves met an untimely end to crank out that much dominion.

Tough starting position though - I think it’s a bug with the map which should really be fixed.

Banefire: so did Mike play Caelum at all? are you there Mike?

Patch updates:

8th july

  • Serpent cult orgy.
  • New icons: Fortune teller; Dark, fire, cold power; Poisonous Barbs; Healer; Heretic (sceptic and others)

K.O. has been busy lately. Patch is not scheduled for release at least until late August, I believe.

Yes, after discussing it here and in emails, the players of Bommerlunder game have decided to call it a game.

Good game everyone! This was a quite memorable game for me, and the victory was not easy. I salute all my opponents but especially Man and Abyssia nations for being tough and resourceful foes.

I think this was the last Dom3 game for me, at least for a long time. I won’t have much time to play in the close/medium future, and besides the novelty factor of Dom3 has been wearing a bit thin for me.

My final score: Out of 4 MP Dom3 games I’ve played so far, 2 were won, 1 lost, and one ended up before conclusion. Time to hang a longsword and scepter on the wall. Until Dom4… <evil grin>

<b>Hoplite and Banefire</b>

I will be out of town from around the 16th of July all the way until around the 1st or 2nd of August. I don’t mind handing over Jomon (Banefire) to someone else, or just setting myself AI, given that I have nothing to do except sit in my capital and thumb my nose at Pan – but Vanheim (Hoplite) is a different story.

Would people object to pausing the game for two weeks or so? Alternately, would you mind if I asked a friend of mine who’s not on QT3 to sub for me in Hoplite?

Both are fine with me, ME, as long as you mention to your friend (for the Hoplite game) of our deal where you give me gems and money so I don’t destroy you.

Hoplite

I’d hate to have to mash you while you’re under someone else’s control. That however might be my only chance.

Whatever map and age i´m in!

Ahahaha. Sure thing. ;)

Buh? This coming from the guy who beat me to everything from banelords in the midgame, to air queens, probably tartarians, and, for all I know, that +3D staff, now?

edit - and my #1 preference would still be for a pause (sorry, guys!).

Just a FYI for anyone sitting on the fence, Shrapnel Games is now offering $9 off of Dominions 3.

thank you very much!
