Is this not a game for seasoned vets? Because two of the players in Magister (Hi Hetzer, Hi wahoo) are both outpacing me in QT3-Lanka so if my skillz are too l33t for this game then those guys are definitely out ;-)

I don’t mean beating me as in actively conquering my lands, I simply mean beating me in terms of having a more powerful nation and magic.

This game is shaping up like Lictor for me, in that I can never manage to be a major nation but I’m doing a good job staying alive by sucking up to the powerful players and making big concessions to get peace treaties.

I don’t think Nick/Lanka is as bad off as he is in Lanka. You have a wicked global that is displeasing to me up. Furthermore, you can always drop the blood corruption global which locks down all spellcasters except for you! You’re making a lot of headway vs. Abyssia, (unlike my efforts vs. TC which is a bit of a give and take. Should make everyone else happy but TC and me).

Lanka seems to be a pretty even game except for poor Abyssia who got doubleteamed.

Well, Abysia totally owned, and i mean pnwed, my 20 turn, unique item, custom built anti-Abysia army. 10 : 1 casualties or something. I’m not really certain how to beat 100+ Burning Warriors with Tien Chi without crossbows or flaming arrows working. I tried 6 or 8 2W+1W item casters, and that wasn’t near enough. Heat From Hell is a scary scary thing.

I love the paper/rock scissors aspect to this game. The Giants whooped a similar Abyssian army and hardly took any damage. Just shattered The Burning Ones. Then TC crushed those same giants. Now AByssia is hammering down TC. Fun times!

I have a few ideas that what you could try. Give up your eastern empire and I’ll gladly share!

I´m more powerful??? You mean im pretty safe in the water as nobody wants to invade me… early Rlyeh pretty sucks to get out of water, you didnt even get those free landunits if you built castles on land… and nearly everyone only breathes water… i would do better if i had taken atlantis…

Is it displeasing? I didn’t think Looming Hell did much. The description implies it only does stuff in my dominion and I have problems spreading my dominion. All of my fighting with Abysia has been in foreign dominion. I have no fricken idea why Lanka, a very blood oriented nation, can’t blood sacrifice!

I mostly cast Looming Hell to lock up a global spot with a heavily reinforced global that nobody would be able to dispel, purely to prevent anyone else from getting another cool global. The only nice thing about blood globals is that blood slaves are easy to get en-masse with a little planning. So I have no problem throwing 500+ slave reinforcement onto a global if I save up for awhile.

Furthermore, you can always drop the blood corruption global which locks down all spellcasters except for you!

I’ve never seen that one cast, so I’m not sure how powerful it is. According to what I’ve read on the shrapnel boards, Astral Corruption just means about a 1 in 6 chance that people casting rituals get horror attacked. Not horribly decisive, especially since some elite bodyguards will suffice to protect the most valuable casters.

From horrors? Hahahaha, surely you jest. Astral Corruption is in the realm of Burden of Time as the most disruptive and nasty ways you can give grief to everyone. That silly devil global is absolutely nothing by comparison.

Well, considering that I think you have some dominion in my lands, it’s displeasing to me! Makes me dominion push more.

Well trust me, I won’t be casting it anytime soon. I blew my huge stockpile of blood on looming hell. Building up another 400+ blood slaves for another huge blood global would take at least 10 turns.

Actually, the army that’s about to take a castle away from you isn’t very scary anymore. Rlyeh of all people crippled it a few turns ago (thanks Hetzer). It’s the one currently moving up to the front that ought to be worrying you. <insert evil cackle here>

Oh, and Heat from Hell is an awesome spell. Though I’m going to run out of fire gems casting it and fire elementals and like every battle.

Though I greatly appreciate hetzer and wahoo at this point. I just wish we were deciding the dominance of the game on my countries soil. :P

Really? the combat didnt seem to be so well, i thought solar brilliance would do more… its really crippeld? As i have seen only one or twe of your soldiers where blinded, pray tell me if im wrong…

That army was all demons and undead. About 3/4 of them are permanently blind now, including the big scary commander. That stung. If they hadn’t been fighting under cover of a darkness spell to even the playing field for your troops, your small force might have routed my much larger one.

I really do consider it a good trade though, since getting the ring of sorcery off of your kamikaze caster more than made up for the reduction in effectiveness of that army :) I’ve been wanting one of those for ages and xmas came early!
