You are clearly acquiring the Cthulhu Nature.

QT3-Jeff players.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Busy weekend has kept me away from the PC. I’m still fiddling around with various map options and haven’t picked one yet. You can all get working on pretenders though so when I pick a map we can get going fast :)

Also, everyone PM me with an email address you’d like to use for turn notifications. Well, everyone but Hetzer, because he doesn’t like my turn notification emails.

Well, I’m screwed. Lost another big battle to Pan; nothing much standing between him and the remnants of my empire now. Would strongly suggest other players either attack me and take my provinces before he does (I’ll fight back, of course, but still) or try to stop him by attacking him in the south. If he takes my capital with its two VPs he’ll be pretty close to winning.

Man, I missed the starting of another game? Dammit.

Can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m going to be moving to Texas, leaving Wenseday morning. The computer is probably going to be the last thing I pack up, and as a courtesty I will take any available turns at that time. However, after that I’m offline for several days. I’m hoping the principles won’t mind if those games go off timer for the time being. The move should be completed by the end of the week.

Obviously, Jeff hasn’t started yet. I will certainly have a pretender design ready by Tuesday, its just a matter of how N. W. wants to run his game as to whether or not I could get it in so the players can play one turn at least before the weekened.

We’ve had very little discussion (trash or otherwise) about this game, even after it resumed. Are we all just afraid of letting too much intelligence slip with our boasts? ;)

I’ll hold off on starting QT3-Jeff until after the weekend, but you all still need to PM me with the email address you want to use.

Also for the map I’m thinking Kingdom of Karan, simply because I really liked that one in dom2. I’m fiddling around with it, seeing how much conversion it needs to work in dom3. So far I’ve got the image file fixed, I suspect the .map file won’t need too much tweaking.

I’m just trying to quietly do my thing and not get destroyed when someone sneezes.

dammit! I missed my turn by 5 hours, so I didn’t get to see the tremendous clash with Arco, which I apparently won, but lost 100s of troops during. Hmmm. Did anyone happen to save that battle somehow? I tried all sorts of spells and don’t know how anything.

PAN

Magister timed turns will be halted tonight per Greatatlantic’s request. The server will remain up so you can view/revise your turn …

Dammit, I totally forgot to check Magister this morning and staled my turn by a few hours. At least a random event had cultists take over one of Mictlan’s provinces for me somehow. One of my provinces is being relentlessly bombarded by holy fire every turn since I took it near the start of the game. Anyone know what’s up with that? Some kind of freaky holy magic site?

Also, I’m now officially out of Hoplite, as C’Tis decided to take over my last province so I can’t wander around scouting any more. At least I got two Queens of Air to give me a royal escort out of the game. Somebody start talking up the game, would you? I want to know how it goes!

I don’t know how to save it, but I did get to see that battle. It was a real nailbiter, and I didn’t know which of you was going to win until Arco’s elephant squads broke and ran. It looked like half of both your armies were asleep by the end from Stellar Cascades and Sleep spells.

Magister - it is now de-timered.

Alright, Vanheim, you called it out. I’m not about to be the one to attack either of my neighbors for upsetting the balance of power; that’s why I’m giving Abysia a bit of hell. Go figure, if he keeps the blood hunting up much longer we’ll have to deal with much more than a few Arch Devils. However, if Vanheim refuses to take part, we will have to deal with a turtling superpower later on with the incredible economy of those globals - which, you have to admit, have been there for a very long time. I’m not sure what Abysia has for coming across the water, but it’s going to be rough for all involved if I am left to fight it alone. There’s my take on the situation. I haven’t had a rough battle all game, and I’m ready to see what these troops can do outside of smashing indies and Shambler Thralls.

It’s too bad the Hoplite Monkey Fight ended up with neither gaining an advantage, and only the opportunistic nations of Abysia and C’tis gaining anything from the war.

How’s that for trash talk?

Yeppers, sounds like it. Might want to check the site list - - I don’t know if a fire site could be responsible.
Just go to your savegame folder and back up the .trn file. Name it something like ‘arco vs pan.trn’ so you’ll remember what it is. :D

Woo! :D

My globals look imposing, and I’ve had them for a while (though it probably feels like longer than it really has been, because of the delays) but if you want to see a frightening economy, consider that C’tis still has a much higher gem and gold income than I do, plus an army that’s as large as two of us combined. Abysia isn’t far behind me, and is probably much better off (in real terms) when you include blood.

I also have the smallest territory out of any of the Big Four players – Helheim has a vast empire, and following the conquest of R’lyeh, part of it is underwater, making it that much more defensible.

In other words, I’m not so much turtling as playing catch-up, given that my research has lagged for most of the game, and that I made a bunch of newbish mistakes early on (this being one of my first MPs, as well as my first serious Vanheim game). For now, I can bleed any invader so badly that he’d be vulnerable to attack on another front, and given that C’tis seems to be staying neutral for now, that’s all I need. :D

It would be interesting to chronicle the past wars of this game. I fought Mictlan and Niefelheim; I think I saw Helheim fighting AI Tien Chi, eons ago; Abysia swallowed up Lanka and parts of Caelum and Niefelheim; and I don’t know about C’tis. Relative to the stage of the game we were in, I had some epic stuff happening in my wars, and it’d be cool to compare notes when this game is over.

Good to hear you got a stale turn, will give me one more turn before my inevitable demise :)

Your battlefield spells worked well; I was trying to neutralize your heavy troops through mass Stellar Cascades, which Relief helped against. Also, Curse of Stones caused big problems for me, since my units’ magic resistance was generally low.

Your screening units also worked well, catching much of the initial barrages of spells intended for more important troops.

I knew the result before I saw the battle, of course, but it didn’t seem that close to me. His sacreds came through for him again, and the satyrs handled the elephants better than I had expected.

EDIT: Also, gang up on Pan everyone. Come on, you know it makes sense :)

I guess it takes one to know one!

But at least we agree, that Vanheim should probably enter the war at this point. If not, we will all soon be talking Hellish. When the evil Helherdings starts marching, you are either in the coalition against them - or about to be assimilated by them.

Let it be known that the noble people of Helheim have not attacked a single nation that has not attacked us first. Except for Abysia, because they’re gross.

Ulm attacked first, sending the wrath of the Helhirdling division back upon their lands, seizing a handful of their provinces. The leaderless T’ien Ch’i forces put up a surprising fight; their lands were eventually split between us and C’tis at a humbling loss for Helheim. After being raided for years, a large force under the command of a powerful Troll king crushed the undersea brain tyrants while C’tis mopped up the Western ocean. Now we move to our most dangerous foe yet; the bloodthirsty demonoids of Abysia.

Ya know, if we had engaged after that patch, I don’t think I would have gotten quite so destroyed.

But yeah, I did attack first. Your lands looked tasty!

Loosely “quoted” from rev. Martin Niemüller (1892 - 1984)

First Helheim assimilated Ulm,
I did not speak up as I was not Ulmish

Then Helheim assimilated T’ien Ch’i
But I did not speak up, as I was not T’ien Ch’i

When Helheim unprovoked attack Abyssia,
I did not speak up, as I was not Abysian (even though I admire them greatly)

When Helheim came for me,
There was no one left to speak up!
