So, sadly C’Tis died of dominion death before I could give him his cake.
But he gets his revenge by not logging in for two days to see the notice and making us wait.
The Sidhe Lords and Champions infiltrated over a 8 or 10 turn period. The Sorceresses simply Cloud Trapezed into provinces I had scouted as having only PD. Put together, they made the perfect army - against most Niefel players. I could have taken out just about any army of Giants. My plan failed to survive contact with the enemy, because I had the bad luck to start next to a Niefel player who made only a few giants and focused instead on Jarl SCs.

Marcin said the server was up and running and ready to go. So, please pick nations and email me your pretenders at your earlies convience (and if that won’t be for a while, email them when its inconvient) to qt3dominions@gmail.com . If anyone else wants in, do say so soon.

Curse you Ron Derby! Your mages escaped, AGAIN. Nice try with the wolves though. Meanwhile, what the heck are my allies doing? Have you guys managed to take anything yet? I won’t claim to have spies everywhere, but I’m not seeing progress here. On another note, anyone willing trade a Winged Helm or Bag of Air?

Just PM’ed Lum to ask him to bring the game back up. :)
Great - it was down when I checked yesterday. I figured there might have been some ninja/pirate action, but then remembered that’s Nicks server.

I’m currently laid up in the hospital with an infected leg. It may be up to a week before I can bring the server up.
Yikes - that certainly puts it all into perspective. Hope you get some good looking nurses and the good IV antibiotics. Don’t forget to harass all the medical folks about washing their hands and/or using alcohol based gel every time they come into your room.

Oh great, another zombie outbreak in Texas.
Of course they got away :)
Don’t worry, your allies are working hard. Oceana has invaded twice, while TC has taken as many of my original provinces as you have. However, eventually he is going to realize that if he keeps going into my territory he is going to wind up with an empire that makes a diagonal slash across the map. Hardly a winning position.
And speaking of your Jarls who have finally made it to my territory, please send them back, before I am forced to figure out some way to send them back myself.
On another note, anyone willing trade a Winged Helm or Bag of Air?
I have a feeling that you will find your allies less willing to help while they think you are winning. After all, you don’t think they really want to see a super powerful Niefelheim that controls the whole eastern half of the map, do you? My guess is that they really just want a long war while they bide their time, conserve their resources, and build late-game armies.

Magister? Where i play Vanheim? What do you pay for one Helmet or Bag?
and yes i would refrain from trading him one but what do the others pay for
that?
Well, there’s “winning” by having the largest amount of territories and resources, which I’m pretty certain isn’t me. And then there’s winning by having strongest fighting force, which probably is me right now. In the case of the latter, you try to avoid conflict and use your greater resources to come up with a counter or better army.
Did I say Magister? Because I meant Jeff. Aspiring gods, I can’t keep these game names straight apparently. Anyways, PM me what YOU are in the market for. I will say I am best suited to reciprocate with nature or water gems/items. I also have a pretty good death gem income, but those are pretty dear to me.
So, Greatatlantic, you’re doing pretty well as Niefelheim? I know we’re immortal enemies in Magister, but no hard feelings, right? Would you or any other EA Niefelheim players share some tips? I find finding any sort of helpful talk about strategerying for races online strangely hard.
Here ya go; I’ve done well before with them in Dom2, and it seems about right.
Scroll down to Dr. Praetorius’ post. The OP is a comp-stomping newbie, so you can ignore that and pay attention to the advice he gets that isn’t snark.
I could give you some advice… but where’s the fun in that? This game is about coming up with your own crazy theories that just, might, work! That, and I might have to divulge some secrets to those I’m playing now.
I’ll give a few hints, though.

Your PD is absolutely awful. Most nations get 1 low level infantry and 1 low level archer type per POINT of PD. You get just 1 giant militia for every 2 points, with no archer units! And honestly, extra strength and hp don’t go that far when combined with low attack and defense. So, plan around this one.

You Niefle Jarls are great thug chasis. Just find ways to A) manage their fatigue and B) stay in cold provinces. Some of their stats change depending on the temp scale.
-
You lack any cheap mages. This hurts your research. Whats more, when you do buy mages you pay for extra HP, which isn’t exactly a winner for something that exists solely for research. I’m not necessarily suggesting you take a magic scale to attempt to make up for it, but if you find a library or other sage building site, take advantage of it.
I’ve got some internet at home now, so could this be put back on 48 hour timer?
I’m bumping this so people reading at work are reminded to pick a nation and email me their pretenders : qt3dominions@gmail.com .
Also, be sure to pick settings. Right now Score Charts are tied 1 for and 1 against.

Is there a hosting guide somewhere? I’d like to learn how to host some games.
I’ve never seen one, but I’ll usually share my setup tips and scripts with anyone who wants to put a dedicated server in place. I’m less helpful on PBEM games, because I believe PBEM is a backwards abomination in this day and age.

I wouldn’t mind making one comp a dedicated server, however i would like to get on it occassionally. I could make my PC dedicated but i would get on their in the evenings and play since it has the graphics cardd. I could make the Mac dedicated but i’d still probably surf ect on it occassionally. hmm. I do have linux, mac, or pc options though.
Just serving up one or two games is a pretty lightweight task. Dom3 server processes do not have a big resource footprint. Basically you could pick any of those systems and call it a dom3 server and still use it as you normally do. Just remember to never turn it off :)
