I’ll make sure Crom goes offtimer. I’ll ask Marcin to take Mist spell off timer too!

QT3-Lanka

Wahoo/Maverni continues with a fine mini battle of the bulge. My remnant forces of my first Maverni expeditionary army are falling back in disarray around his capitol but it’s only a matter of time until my much larger reserve armies can come to the party . . .

Tien Chi staling has made that war one sided in my direction momentarily. Technically his mega army is about to take the capitol of Abysia from me since I have only two mages in there, but first he’d have to take a turn in order to give the “storm castle” order.

It’s interesting that months after Hetzer abandoned his Rlyeh position in this game the remaining players are just now starting to take underwater provinces. I was willing to ignore the oceans completely and let sleeping squiddies lie but both of my foes snuck attacks at me from unexpected directions by going underwater so I’ve been forced to retaliate in kind. So hey TC, if you ever come back and take a turn and wonder where that humongous undead horde really close to your capitol came from, look no further than the oceans :)

Well, to join the chorus of people with problems, it would seem my registry has become corrupted, or something like that. Long story short, I can use my computer in “safe mode”, but not regular mode. I also can’t play Dominions 3 in safe mode, so I’ll be out of commish for a bit, probably until Monday when I get a new copy of XP. I’m in the same games as Hetzer, so it shouldn’t effect anybody more than that. I’ll give Marcin an email and ask him to Mist Spell off the timer if he hasn’t already.

Inquisitor

As soon as I get my PC back online, I’ll be taking preferences for Inquisitor. Be sure to think about what you want if you’re in this game.

Nick,

Can you take the timer off Lanka for the holiday? I’m not going to have internet access

  • Dominions 3, till at least Sunday.

Hoplite

Yowch, EA Ulmish PD are tough. It didn’t help that I think I forgot to properly script that Tartarian…

Done.

I’ve PM’d Lum to request a pause for Hoplite until next Wednesday the 28th. I’m going to be away and without internet access until then.

An update for those still following the Hoplite game (where I’m Ctis) - We had essentially 4 remaining powers in the game, Abyssia, Vanheim, Helheim and Ctis (Ulm was a client state, sandwiched between Vanheim and Helheim), arranged more or less like this:
Abyssia | Vanheim
Ctis | Helheim

Helheim and Ctis attacked Abyssia from separate fronts, and while Abyssia put up some spectacular armies (one of which remains undefeated), Dom3 is a tough game in which to win a 2 front war. Vanheim stayed on the sidelines until the writing was on the wall, and has now jumped in and taken much of Abyssia’s remaining territory, against little resistance. Ulm has just gone AI, and seems to be attacking Vanheim, though if Ulm actually has 10 territories I’d be surprised. Vanheim still has 3 globals (Forge of Ancients, Well of Misery, and Earth Blood), Ctis one (Eyes of God), and Helheim one (the astral gem producing one, I think). Abyssia retains a few castles, and most of the Demon Lords, but his economy must be pretty much shot at this point.

This is a graphs on game, and Ctis leads the charts in just about all aspects, but the game feels pretty wide open to me. Now we’re on turn 87 or so, and we’re starting to see some late game big guns, which is cool, but a little mystifying, as I’ve never made it this far in a Dom3 mp game before. Who wins when an air queen matches up with a Goat Sun?

Well, I seem to have “fixed” my computer by taking the nuclear option: clean install. On the other hand, I now have space in my hard drive! Unfortunately, I now don’t have sound. Or rather, I had sound, updated my drivers, and now I don’t. Not sure if was the driver update that did it in, but it seems likely. Anyone know any games for deaf people?

Regardless, I’ll start collecting Pretender files on Monday.

Note to players in:

Lanka
Crom
Jeff

I had another server outage, reason unknown. Not sure when it happened either, but I’ve restarted the games. They were all untimed anyway, so I figure nobody missed a turn :)

Timer is off. PM me when it needs to come back on.

Mist spell:

Need cash? Ulm is willing to hand out gold for gems! Need items? Ulmish smiths are standing by and waiting for your order?

Yes, the Ulmish merchant exchange is open for business. We’ll buy your gems. We’ll forge items for you. Contact us for terms and requests! All customers welcome during this holiday spree!

Ulm

Okay, i have my internet connection back (faster than thought) so the games where i participate could switch back on timer (although i think there where other players who wanted a timerbreak?)

I’m back as well, so I’m OK with Jeff going back on the timer.

Thanks for the great summary!

There are one or two things in there I’d like to clear up, but it might be more prudent to wait until the end of the game. ;)

“Abysia put up some spectacular armies (one of which remains undefeated)” – what did he have on the C’tissian front? From where I’m standing, it looks slightly different, with a second Abysian army in the north.

The Ulmish campaign is going to be interesting, that’s for sure. He may not have much territory, but he’s had ages to fortify them to the hilt with PD, national soldiers, and a few choice summons.

This is also my first lategame experience, so you won’t be alone! I’ve had the chance to try out some interesting tactics (albeit not wholly successful).

Just a Reminder, I’m starting to collect Pretenders now. Please email them to qt3dominions@gmail.com . Also, please post your preferences. For example, with so many players I say we have 15 HoF slots, and 40 magic site frequency, and one VP per capital.

In case anybody forgot, here are the nation assignments.

  1. Rollory - Patala (recieved)
  2. Mind Elemental - Jomon (recieved)
  3. Greatatlantic - Midgard (for practical considerations, recieved)
  4. Hetzer - Mictlan (recieved)
  5. Adam Altman - Pangaea (recieved)
  6. Dallan Invictus - Man (recieved)
  7. Lazy Shiftless Bastard - Marignon (recieved)
  8. Mercutio - Caelum (recieved)
  9. GuildBoss - Pythium
  10. Dave Perkins - Agartha (recieved)
  11. “LeSquid” - C’Tis

P.S. Just for clarity, please include your Qt3 handle when you submit pretenders. I’m less likely to make mistakes under those conditions.

I always like games with low site frequency and difficult research to encourage the use of national troops, but no problem if we go with the settings you mentioned. I like score graphs off. I like winning.

I’ll vote for 15 HoF size, and renaming on. I don’t particularly care one way or the other about site frequency or score graphs.

I’ll vote for renaming on and agree about 40 magic sites. I’d also prefer score graphs to be off.

Pretender sended…

I vote for score graphs on, renaming on, 15 HOF size, research at default. I would like to see more conventional troops, but slowing research is more likely to encourage bless rushes instead. (Admittedly I’m biased, since I have poor sacreds.)

What’s the default site freq for late age? 40, or something else?

Will whip up a pretender now.
