Hmmm what do you do for a living? Accounting? Yes 10 Spells per turn is one of the nicer faces of endgame… making all those armies with cool spellstacks isnt…
Am I the only one that doesn’t micromanage my armies? There’s not a lot of point to it really, Dom3 is a game of attrition. There’s no super decisive victory one can win by scripting the hell out of units and mages that will somehow magically totally vanquish an enemy.
The only degree I manage my armies it to glance at all the units and make sure troops that are dangerous to others, ones with heat or cold auras for example, are segregated out into their own unit and started away from the others on the battlefield. If I have sacreds, I’ll make sure a bless a scripted. That’s about it and once set up a big army can cruise on autopilot for a lot of fights.
…should be up. I just got an email from Marcin claiming the server is up. As I had a couple of requests not to do emails, I’ll be sending out the information through PMs in a little bit. If you don’t get a PM from me in a little bit, be sure to PM me instead. I’m only human.
Other than that, see you aspiring gods ingame.
In my limited MP experience a couple years ago with Dom2, good scripting made a big difference in many battles. Whereas poor scripting could really screw things up.
Personally, I spend a lot of time scripting and placing squads because it seems to me like it makes quite a bit of difference.
I have to totally disagree with Nick. I’ve been totally and decisively destroyed by well scripted armies before, done the same to others, and have completely butchered things by bad scripting as well.
Of course every time I’ve been destroyed because of poor scripting, I would have been better off using Nick’s method :)
INQUISITOR - Pythium
New turnip!
Sorry for the delay–I didn’t realize this was a non-notification game! Just took my two turns.
CROM - Agartha
“Hello?” we whispered into the night but the only reply came from the crickets in the tall, silent grass…just before we smooshed them under our armored feet.
Awfully quiet out there…

Ah, so the request for non-notification was not by quite as “popular demand” as I first heard? :P
You can always check game status here.
If you got knocked out of a game because you lost one battle to a foe with superior scripting, I would hazard a guess that you were probably putting too many eggs in one basket.
I’m not against scripting in the sense that any commander entrusted with gems needs instructions on which spells to cast (but that’s rare) and mages with a propensity to cast dangerous stuff need to be stopped from harming friendlies (also rare). Beyond that I don’t much bother. Sometimes if I have a whole host of identical battle mages I’ll use the saved scripted orders features to assign them all the same sequence for the first five spells but that’s about it.
I think bringing the right mix of troops and controlling the when and where of the fight are waaaaaaay more important than any scripting. But perhaps that’s just my preferred strategy driving my tactics.
I never said non-notification was by popular demand, only that a couple of people requested they’re email addresses be with held. Considering how easy it is to check turn status with the site you provide, I didn’t think it’d be a problem. I know I included the web address in the PM I sent out.

So here’s something I’ve learned about Eriu. They’re a bunch of illusionist tricksy here-one-moment-gone-the-next mind-game-playing elves. And you have to play them that way. Frontal assaults against hundreds of big brawny men covered with steel and waving sharp objects do not work.
Interesting. With the help of my scout I’ve seen the flags of everyone except Agartha and Tir Na n’Og. I guess Agartha is off all by himself, which is bad for the rest of us.
Also, poor Mictlan. Looks like you got hosed this game.
I’m indeed tucked away on the edge of the flat world but I assure you I have neighbors. Your scouts will find me eventually when they find the end of the world!
T’ien Ch’i, knowing that conflict with Vanheim would be coming sooner or later, decided to make it sooner. The declaration of war was sent last turn; this turn saw bloody battles with victories for both sides, and the outcome is as yet unclear.

Tsk Tsk Tsk… an agressive move from T´ien Ch´i… i tried to withold the looming hell but i had to cast it… lets see how those Tiens fare in a devil infested dominion…
Things must be pretty exciting in the TC/Van war - this turn took quite a long time to host.

To Greatatlantic:
Whow! your Virtue is pretty well equipped! How did you come by to those items? most are even not from your mage capabilitys? Traded them?
Now i have to think of a counter…
I’ll send this message to the game hosts, too, but I thought I’d let players in both games know that I will be away from Dec 14 to Dec 26 with no hope of playing any turns. I suspect others will need pauses, too, but if I’m the only one, I don’t mind if the games continue. I need a challenge. ;)
Hoplite and Inquisitor
Dave won’t be the only one away. I’ll be on holiday for about three weeks, starting this Friday (December 14) and returning around January 6 or 7. :)
