I’m going to pass on Tick Tock. Partly because my other games are still going, but mostly because I think you’ve hit on a setup that will make a triple or even a quad uber-bless strategy viable.
Mercutio is going to have enough income to buy lots of his F9E9W9 giants :)
True, but the early game phase where no counters to uber blessed units are available is going to pass fast. Everyone is going to have the money to hire a ton of researchers on turn 1 and tech up quick.
I think you have convinced me that everyone should start out with a few provinces with a free castle/temple/lab setup to better simulate a developed empire. That’s more what I’m shooting for here, a fast track past the early game stage.
I’d like to play in Tick Tock, sounds like an interesting experiment. I’ll pick a race tonight, but I’m leaning towards Lanka.
Oho, is this an inverse revenge thing? You didn’t like our war went in QT3-Lanka when I was Lanka and you were Abysia so now you went to flip sides and have a redo?

Im want to be in Tick Tock and ill taking Ermor…
Yea stick me down as Helheim in Tick Tock.
Even though bless strategies have somehow ALWAYS failed for me in MP games!

Sadly, it looks like I’m going to stale on Mist Spell this turn. My computer shit the bed last night and I’ve had to reinstall windows and everything else, but with an exam tomorrow, I’ve not even had time to install all of my drivers, much less find my Dom3 disk and reinstall that. Sorry.

You uh, you do realize that the person hosting the game is not a bot? That they just need an email or an IM or SOMEthing to let them know about things like this? Sheesh.
Mist Spell is set to timerless until tiohn gets his machine back up.
I’ll go for Fomoria if there’s still room.
I meant to ask this a while back, but totally forgot:
How the hell much do you people spend on hiring mercenaries? I don’t think I’ve ever gotten any mercenary bands yet, and once I even spent over 500 gold trying to hire one group.
Unless it’s someone that no one else will hire so they sit available for a few turns and I hire them for the cheapest cost, just for the fun of putting a lone commander in front of my army and telling him to attack closest.

There are a handful of mercs worth bidding on, and quite a few mediocre ones.
Especially some of the mages, which can really help diversify your magic.
There is one train of thought that if you haven’t picked out a powerful blessing, or an Awake SC pretender, to advance with Mercenaries instead of your natural troops, as it will take too long to amass a sizable number of your high end, resource expensive troops, or cost too much to pump out the worthless low end guys that die like flies.
Always exceptions, of course.
If there’s room in Tick Tock, I’d like to play Tir. The uncharacteristic amounts of trouble I’m having expanding in Inquisitor are warming me to your mad concept. :)
Edit: Though counting posts, I think I’m on the outside looking in. Whatev.
I understand all that, but my real question is how much more than their starting cost do people BID on them? Do some of you guys just sit around not building any troops at all for multiple turn so that you can blow 1000 gold at once on the decent mercs?
I think back in Magister when I was playing Ermor and had nothing better to do with my gold, I spent around 750 gold trying to hire some guys who started at 200 and I STILL didn’t get them.

For the 4 people still playing after all these years, Hoplite is back up and on 96h timer.
Holy crap.
edit: Can’t connect yet. I’m chomping at the bit!
Is it still casalum.homeip.net 7777?

yay firewall! should be accessible now.
I logged on to check the status of Hoplite, only to see that I was the only one who hadn’t submitted a turn! Sorry about that - I’ve put in the turn, and let’s see what happens!
For those who lost the thread - it is turn 89 and Ctis continues to mop up the remnants of the once proud Abyssia, who valliantly battles on, despite limited territory and resources. The Abyssians have decided to go out swinging though, having defeated 40+ blessed Helhirdlings with one stack, while another army, with 3 demon lords and assorted other firey evil things marches on Ctis. Vanheim appears to be taking over the territory of their once ally/vassal Ulm, who has now gone AI, as Helheim seiges one of Abyssia’s remaining fortresses.
Apparently so. Server is apparently up since Apache is responding but sshd and dom3 aren’t so I can’t do much about it until I get home tonite.
EDIT: sshd was up, I just forgot that I’d reconfiggered that tricky router thingamabob. I was able to access the server once I remembered that and the games have been restarted.
Man, I completely over extended in that game. I was under the impression we were playing mop up, instead, after I got my armies strung out, I got hit both from behind and from you in the front. It wasn’t pretty.
Lanka seems pretty bad ass though. I got some ideas and I’m looking forward to trying them multiplayer.
