Well he didn’t utterly self destruct as in Jeff, but he also had the easiest go at it. The north was a lot less crowded to begin with and his only competition in that arena was Marignon, which stalled a bunch of turns at the beginning. As I expanded to the north to limit his expansion to the south, I had my run of terrible luck. Namely, I got double teamed by Shinyuma and Tien Chi, which happened simultaneously with a Bogus attacked that wiped out my northern most army building a castle to hold the line against Pan and otherwise expand in that direction. Combined with various misfortune indie attacks, I wasn’t in the best position.
Still, the Ace up my sleever, a very powerful SC pretender (equipment courtesty of Erie and Ulm), did an excellent job in keeping both at bay. However, not wanting to risk her getting Horrow marked by TC’s Astral mages, Shinyuma bore the brunt of her fury and wiped out hundreds of Hetzer’s troops. Guess who also had northern provinces bordering Pan? Shin. So, after having a lot of time to consolidate, research, and build troops, he attacks and soon overwhelms him.
Not saying Pan isn’t playing a smart game, he’s just had it easier than anybody else (except maybe R’lyeh, but still).

one note:
Shouldn’t most games be played on a scrolling map? Just makes a huge difference if you start in a corner as compared to starting in the middle of a couple of different players. In a scrolling map, everyone has 4 directions to defend.
I’m surviving as MA Ulm b/c I’m in a corner. I thought my infantry were pretty cool but then realized they’re inferior to Erieu’s junk firbolgs. Ouch.

You think? The firbolgs have lots less armor than your infantry. They seemed to me to be glorified light infantry with extra MR.
Regardless I didn’t do a very good job with Eriu at all.
Inquisitor (Pythium) - Looks like Marignon (Lazy Shiftless B*) is out, having chosen to let the AI take over for the final takeover. Between myself and Midgard (Greatatlantic), Marignon didn’t have much of a chance, although I did very little damage to Marignon, taking only 3 provinces, while Midgard did all the heavy lifting (and continues to do so) and will be rewarded with the VP.
Crom (Agartha) - Despite the fact that Fomoria still controlled several provinces, their last candle burned out, effectively knocking Evil Steve out of the running for the world’s One True Pretender. He put up a helluva fight vs me and Arco in a 2-front war and I look forward to playing against/with him in future contests!
Intel (fact or fiction? you decide!):
- My war with the evil Sauromatians continues…
- My scouts report TC and the giants still at war farther to the north…
- Arco and Tir appear to be battling it out…
- Elephants are hard to steer…particularly when they run away…
- Gnomes are cute and wear colorful conical hats…
Hoplite - Something of an anticlimax after that last post of mine, but can anyone connect?

Lost track of time there, but back now.
From what I can tell, Pan’s big strength is his big army of doom, with tons of bless troops and his pretender casting Fog Warriors. It’s powerful, and I doubt I’m even close to being able to take it on at present, but it can’t be everywhere at once.
I haven’t looked at the turn yet; I was able to connect yesterday… but not today! I guess Lum’s machine was reset?

Yeah, we had storms and a brief power outage last night. Back up now.
I’d hate to think that the War of the Gods was crashing your server…
Though, I have to say, I’m probably going to get creamed, as Vanheim’s had Forge of Ancients up for most of the last 20+ turns, and those bloody glamour’d troops. Still, I’m going down swinging, so we’ll see what happens. More details when I get a chance to look at what actually happened that last turn.

I notice the timer is still on for Inquisitor. Marcin, please turn that off.
Marcin does not check this thread regularly. Did anyone actually PM him? Do so. Just in case, I sent him an email, though I can’t remember if thats the right address.
:D
C’tis leads in gems, income, provinces, and army size - my army count is inflated by a lot of utterly pathetic fodder I have lying around. C’tis also has the three Air Queens, plus the Eyes of God and now Fata Morgana as well. Against that, I have a few advantages of my own, and a few hard-earned lessons from my various campaigns. We’ll see who comes out on top!
As for Inquisitor, I’d be glad for a pause of my own. Rough week coming up at work! I’d better PM Marcin…

Yarr, turned off timer. Sorry for the delay in doing that, in-laws came down for the 3 day weekend and I skipped town early.

Mistspell:
It’s the world vs Pan with Pan winning. Fire blessed centaurs backed by fog warriors is just nasty and have killed hundreds of troops and mages while taking few causualties. Ermor is about finished, TC and Ulm’s main armies have been vanquished. Right now the Pan rock is pounding the world’s scissors. A new strategy is needed.
Crom:
The most interesting thing is that the all but dead Giants are apparently pushing TC back.
i dont know how to kill big giants
help plz
kthxbai
If it makes you feel any better, you killed most of my bakemono archers and set my entire army on fire in our big fight. Just none of my giants died.
Sling and stones? Worked for David, anyway…YMMV
There are some moments in Dominions that just need to be immortalized, like an angle killing an immortal. So I present to you the avant garde work:
