Inquisitor is back on timer.
No, not the Jeff who posts in QT3 - he’s probably not 100. But the game turned over 100 turns.
Surprisingly little happening in it, too. I guess Idar is content to wait for me to try and invade him and the Land of 1 Million troops, while I’m content to not do that until I’ve chased down all the remnants of AI Niefelheim.
The AI did send a stack of ~40 Jarls and 40 giants against Kurgi. They eventually won, but it was kind of like a Conga line, as Jarl after Jarl took his turn whacking Kurgi and going ‘poof!’ from the blood vengeance. Most of the giants survived, maybe because they couldn’t hit him?
Any CROM players having trouble connecting? I’ve received one report saying so, but I can’t replicate the problem.

I had no problem connecting to Crom just now.

I guess Pangaea will be leaving us soon.
Morning Star
I sent Nick a PM and he’s good to host another game. So, I’ve decided to set one up. Some important caveats first, the last patch, 3.14, attempted to change the scale spreading mechanic. The result is you loose your scale selections. I’ve heard this will be fixed in the next patch, which is being rushed for this reason. That doesn’t give us a clue about when it will actually come out, but I’m of the opinion of waiting until it does before we start.
Second caveat, no Lanka. This nation just has to many comparative advantageous to be allowed in fair play. Of course, nothing about dom3 is fair, but still.
Finally, though Nick is hosting, I’ll be organizing. eventually I’ll need all players to email me their Pretender files, from which I’ll get their email addresses which will all be forwarded to Nick. However, since we’re probably a few weeks from starting, I won’t be collecting that information yet.
Alrighty then, the settings:
Age: Early
Map: TBD (right now I’m leaning towards my custom map Ilzgot, but we’ll see)
Score Charts: On (open for vote)
Site Frequency: 50 (default 45, open for vote)
Number of Players: 6, though this is flexible
HoF: 15
Timer: 48 hours
- Greatatlantic: Kailasa
- Evil Steve
- LSB
- David Erickson : Caelum
- baruk : Fomoria
- Idar Thorvaldson: Ermor
- Hetzer
i’m in if you’ll have me. i’ll mull on a nation pick :)
I could go for another game. Too bad about Lanka, I would’ve liked to try them again after being killed in Hoplite. Can I try an uber bless instead? I’ve never actually used an uber bless strategery yet, but I’ve think I’ve seen one in every game I’ve played in so far.
I’m not sure what nation I’d want for it yet, though.

I just got Dom 3 the other week. Sign me up if you don’t mind a greenhorn.
Nation pick: Fomoria
Yeah, uber blesses are allowed, as the typical tradeoff is a SC pretender or really bad scales, which can hurt you in the short run or long run.
I would like to join as well. I will probably play Caelum, but I would like to see the map before making a final decision.
I vote for the graphs to be turned OFF - when they are on it significantly reduces the importance of intelligence gathering. It also leads to games dragging on an on due to “pile-on-the-leader” effect that kicks in much sooner with graphs.
I went ahead and put up Caelum under your name. You’re free to change it to any nation not already picked and Lanka. Still need at least one more person. I might also try the same map Nick created for Jeff.
As for score graphs, I just really, really like the feedback. It tends to give a much better picture of why you won or lost. Also, it lets players know if somebody is running away with the game early on so a quick alliance can form. Otherwise, people might start playing with a dead hand and not even know it. Basically, I seem to like it for the same reasons you don’t.
At least one of the games I’m in will end soonish (one way or the other), so I too will join if you’ll have me. Not entirely sure yet, but think I’ll go for Ermor.
Thank you Greatatlantic.
As for score graphs - yes, we seem to have opposite opinions on it while mostly agreeing on their effect.

Is it possible to get a place still in Morningstar? Greatantlantic said that he is a little flexible for the 6 player slots…
Well, its official, I’m out, though not before I killed Pan’s prophet and I nabbed his Pretender the turn before. Got to love Vengeance of the Dead, it always targets the most dangerous foe.
As for Morning Star, apparently the patch is almost ready for beta testing, and may even include some fixes for the larger, bugges map that came with the game. I’ll look into using that for our game. Off hand, though, I don’t know which maps are suitable for 7 players.

Mist Spell: jeez, Pan can bring his pretender back every other turn. you keep killing him and… Pan has also apparently overrun R’lyeh in the water, which is kinda sad.
Hopefully Marignon/TC are moving b/c Ulm loses a Ulm vs Pan fight. Pan is getting close to winning after overwhelming the valiant dead Ermor. Ulm is using some guerrilla tactics with flying golems (although a teleporting pretender dropped on one last time and it was all over). Sad for him.
BTW, new patch should be up w/n the week.
So you think you can besiege my fort and turn and run when my army shows up, Tien Chi? Not this time! Ok, maybe MOST of the time, but not today! My pale riders went out to head you off at the pass!
And through the dumb luck of the battlefield, I took out 5 of Dave’s commanders before they vamoosed. Dirty mages everywhere! It’s like a roach infestation. If the roaches shot fireballs.
