Inquisitor

I have PMed Marcin to request a pause for a couple of days; work (and a couple of other things) are busy enough this week to rule out Dominions for that time.

Mistspell:

Well. That’s the game. I spent 45 minutes scripting for the big fight with Pan. But the key carrying TEmpest didn’t come to the fight, b/c he wasn’t in the original group of commanders. It’s frustrating having every commander shift back to defense as a default when they shift gear.

Feel pretty confident I would have rolled with tempest b/c dragonflies are useless in a storm and all my scripting took the storm into effect.

Anyway, I’m incredibly disheartened and am willing to concede. I’m low on gems and Pan just took all my uniques and items.

Well, you can’t win em all! (thinking of Crom…) :P

Crom (Agartha) - I staled and lost some ground I was taking in Arco’s (wahoo) backyard. Dominion is fading fast. Gem and gold income is dropping faster than turds from a bunny’s butt. Bottom line: things are looking grim for Once-mighty Agartha.

Inquisitor (Pythium) - With Crom slipping away I can focus more on my empire here…which isn’t saying much. Looks like Midgard is on the way, with me invading from the south and Caelum hitting the north. Not sure what Jomon is up to on my south but he’s got some huge frickin armies down there…He’s looking bored and that’s not a good sign for me!

Wait, you’re breaking our alliance? Its official, you’re the Worst Ally Ever! I’ve already found a sub and I’m sure this is part of a calculated move to help you win, but you don’t get to pull stuff like that and not get berated in public.

-Early on Pythium offers an alliance against Marignon, after which he offers a secure border and freedom to focus on other neighbors.

-A turn or two later I agree and ask how long it will be until he can attack. He says three turns.

-Three turns later I attack, and he does not. When pressed, he says he’ll need more turns to get into position.

-I meanwhile tactically dominate two Marignon armies, kill hundreds of soldiers, and grossly weaken Marignon (while obviously being somewhat weaken myself which really open the door for Caelum’s agression). Pytium finally attacks with out facing great resistance. Ends up with more total provinces.

-Later, I mention how weak Caelum’s tactics are and how its a great opportunity to pick up a lot of provinces. He says he’s good to attack Caelum.

-Finally, he attacks me instead in clear violation of the original agreement, to say nothing of the more recent offers to join battle against Caelum.

No, not the worst ally, just busy, lazy, and forgetful. I’m actually a pretty loyal ally (ask Dave Perkins!) but lately I’m having difficulty remembering all of my diplomacy dealings as days, weeks, and sometimes months pass between the negotiations. Frankly, I don’t even know who’s playing which nation half the time so the offers become rather mixed up and confusing to the point that I don’t even know who I’m agreeing with! So now I just look at the board when I connect and go “Ok, that guy looks tough so avoid him…that guy looks weak over there, so let’s go that way”.

It used to be that I kept a log of all of my diplomacy and would review it often but that was in my previous, ie less busy, life… So I apologize for breaking our alliance. My bad. I honestly didn’t do it thinking “F%#$ this alliance!” In fact, I usually send a declaration of war message before invading my neighbors when I think of it.

Ha-ha! The shoe is on the other foot now! I remember when I set up a peace agreement with Pythium and apparently he immediately went and offered to attack me with you. Or was already doing so.

I have to take issure with this part. Damn mass skinshifters! ;)

See?! I can’t remember who is who anymore so I just go with the latest offer. It’s like Memento with me so I guess you gotta be careful. I did send you a declaration of war, IIRC.

So its official, nobody likes Guildboss!

I have to take issure with this part. Damn mass skinshifters! ;)

Well, the army I threw off my capitol probably had less than 30 skinshifters compared to your army of 200 units. So that wasn’t simply me brainlessly taking advantage superior recruitable units. Plus, Marignon Crossbowmen are usually considered one of the best late game units, you know. My mages were a huge part of my success that you never were able to match.

Oh, so now it’s personal and you speak for everyone? Well, suck on this, knave: I don’t play Dominions to make friends. I play to CRUSH! And you and your little men in wolfskins are next on my list! MUHAHAHAHAHA!

(FYI, it’s just a game)

???

Why?

Both Mistspell and Inquisitor are off the timer.

Thanks for the PM reminder :D

<3 <3 <3 FFA

Caelum is looking to buy some earth gems, for our own earth income is very low. We will trade you other gem types, or we can forge any items for you that my mages are capable of making (I just got con 6 level this turn).

Inquisitor (Jomon)

Just PMed Marcin to ask him to restore the timer. :D Thanks for your patience, all.

Also: Agartha, I will thank you not to move that Umbral army any further south (into 202, 195, or, heaven forbid, 201).

But how will you thank me? :)

I’ll thank you to do the exact opposite of whatever Jomon wants, and I’ll do the thanking with juicy juicy death gems. How’s that sound?

Inquisitor back on timer.

Morning Star - Turn 30

The inevitable Caelian - Fomorian war has begun.

Caelum has the upper hand. I lost 2000 gold worth of giants in the main battle this turn, whilst he lost a bunch of flagellants and half a dozen temple guard. He used 6 Eagle kings casting thunder strike, not to mention a wizard casting flaming arrows to boost his Caelian archers (along with wind guide).

The wizard was a surprise. This means that by my reckoning Caelum has mastery of at least 7 of the 8 magic paths.

He has:
sorceresses - air 2 astral 2
Wizards (red) - fire 3 (3? elemental)
garnet amazons - fire and blood
amber clan mages - water 2 (chance of nature 1/fire 1)

His pretender has at least earth 4, national mages cover air and death, so he’s only really missing nature.

Territory distribution on turn 30:

light green = Mictlan
dark green = Sauromatia
light purple = Fomoria
dark purple = Ermor
black = Helheim
red = Abysia
light blue = Caelum
white = independent (barbarian attack)

Mostly correct description Baruk. Although I doubt I have an upper hand. In another battle this turn my 50-strong underwater army was wiped out to the last soldier, while killing one or two fomoria’s archers.

Also I am not nearly as powerful as Baruk think, magic wise. I don’t have any amber clan mages (I thought that very tough underwater province next to my capital that I had skipped in the beginning of the game had them, but I was mistaken - it just had shark knights and triton troopers. I am building there 1 and half triton trooper each turn :). But Baruk does have amber mages province. ). Also I do not have mastery of either death or blood. My national death 1 mages are not of much use to me, except for gem searching. And my few blood 1 amazons do not even produce enough blood for me to forge sanguine rods for most of them. :)

Nevertheless, the main battle of this turn with Fomoria went well. I’ve lost almost 2/3 of the army headcount-wise, but I won the battle. I have to say these Fomoria’s double-blessed berserkering 7 hitpoints regenerating quikened giants are real bitch to kill. I am lucky Fomoria dind’t have more of them in that province I have chosen to attack this turn. As it happened, it was a close call - by the time Fomoria’s army was routed, my melee screen (which was larger than archers part of my army) was completely wiped out, flagallents and temple guards alike. And even after Fomoria routed, most of their army continued to fight, inflicting toll on my archers, for berserking giants know no fear. At the end archers had to melee last few gaints.
