I’m keen to play. I’d like to try out Hinnom.

I’d like to try out Shinuyama.
My preference would be to play on a wrap-around map, or perhaps on a map with predetermined start positions.

Me too! Me too! i dont know exactly what i want to play… but im sooooo in!

I would like to take a crack at Machaka. I put the over under at me lasting 4 years.

Good work to you for having created armies that were never defeated in 100 turns! I imagine that wahoo’s Air Queen army would have given you quite a tussle. His Air Queen army and my best army (two Fire Kings + Pretender) had a big to-do at the end and his army won, but there were 100’s of losses on both sides, and many units retreated.

I couldn’t bear to watch the fight because both sides had 30-40 mages and sitting there through the “Astral Shields” and the like was too monotonous. Is there a way to turn off stuff to make battles go faster? I checked the (paper) manual for the answer but couldn’t find it. I also checked the internets.

I’ve had an itch to play mid-Ermor - but I wouldn’t be able to start before ~ July 4th.

So if you get organized before then, just ignore me.

You can at least skip through the early (Astral Shield) turns with ‘N’. It can still be pretty painful to watch a huge battle, though.

I want to play - but i shouldn’t. I’ve sworn Dom3 multi off. Nevermore, ect.
:/

Oh, thanks!

I’m in for Pax Ermor…I’m thinking going Atlantis or Bandar Log or Tir. Can’t decide whether I should keep trying to pick 1 country and be good with them or just enjoy the various ones. Those are my top 3 with Ulm/Oceania around as well. I’m not worried about picking at this pt and will consider it more later. I have a firmer list of who I don’t like playing: Any giants, Ermor, Pythium.
i’m in if we start in July…which is about 3 weeks away. In any case, I’m flexible.

As far as endgame in Dom…I think Dom has the typical game funnel problem. At the start, there are ton of options but those start narrowing. By the end of the game you must have access to either a) giants b) tarts c) elemental royalty d) one of the 5 topshelf combat spells e) great blood spells. If you can’t get those, you’re in a whole lot of trouble b/c even a stack of solid mages will die pretty quickly. You do have to screw up in a big way to not get access to any of the topshelf spells.

If there’s anything I’ve learned is that at the start of the game you need to figure out how to get someone to cast fog warriors or flame storm or niefel flames. Get mages with boosters or communions or your pretender. I’ve learned to make sure that a pretender can craft the needed boosters to get to the magic that I want to cast.

Changing the subject:
This manual as a paper bound object rocks. I keep it in a convenient location and I need it to flip back and forth through spells and items. I need to find counters to certain spells and the rapid flipping is something you don’t get through electronica.

Also, if you just learn to play through a tutorial you’ll get smoked. I’d suggest you overcome your reluctance for 2 reasons 1) the game really is that good 2) it’s a small company that deserves dollars for making a game this good 3) the developers constantly add new content with the number of nations almost doubling since creation.

You should play…i’ll help make sure you die before the dreaded endgame!

i think i take abysia…

July 4th is just one day past three weeks, so if thats a solid OK date for you I don’t see a problem.

Anyways, I updated the roster, still room for four more.

Oh… you’re going to get… No! … ARGGG /twitches foot

I’m not certain about Tir. Strangely i think Oreiads are better raider/thugs than Ri. And… Rain of Stones? Wow. It’s the nearest i’ve seen in Dominions to an instant win/kill all mages button.

I’m in for Pax Ermor. I need to pick me army still though.

Could someone tell me if this game is worth doing single-player for 20-30 hours? I have a huge backlog that I’m actually working through and I’m trying to avoid 100-hour games and multiplayer that will suck my time away. But if I can have a good experience in 20-30 hours, I’m game.

I will check out the demo this weekend as well.

Dom3 is emphatically not for you. At a few hundred hours in you are still a dom3 n00b ;-)

Dominions games provide YEARS of playtime. In terms of playtime provided vs the cost it’s a phenomenal value but it’s not a rewarding game probably for someone looking to get in, see the high points, and get out.

Woops. I meant the middle age version Ashdod.

Ok, I’m in. Not sure who I’ll play yet…

I’ve been married for years too but that doesn’t make me an “expert” on marriage!

Years <> Skill !!

And to be more specific, these last two Dom3 games (Crom and Inquisitor) have been all I’ve played of Dom since Dom2 over 3 years ago… and I wasn’t very adept then, either. So stop trying to make me look like some sort of l33t D0mzinat0r!!! :P

Pay no mind to the Dom3 manual that lives next to my toilet… It’s there for my guests. Yeah, that’s the ticket…

Updated Rooster. Also, notice the presence of “Standby” at the end. Even if we fill up to 12 players I’ll put extra names down there. The reason is simple, with this many players there is a good chance somebody will decide to drop out or otherwise miss a deadline, at which point I’ll ask the standby’s to send his or their files in. Their inclusion on the roster also gives players a place to start asking for subs should they drop out once the game has begun.
