Thanks for the update! I’ll keep fighting but only if Fomoria (baruk) says it’s worth a try. Otherwise, the Sauromatians will bow to their icy masters.

So this is what an exploding Archdevil looks like:

(I think the explosion was the phoenix pyre effect)

My rationale for continuing to play on in the face of apparently insurmountable odds:

  • Big battles are fun
  • The game is not just about determining a victor (though that is kind of important).
  • Finding out how spells and supercombatant strategies hold up in a real game always beats tests versus the AI. This is my first proper Dom3 multiplayer game (I’ve played Dom:PPP before), so experiencing the endgame is still pretty new for me.

The game has not started to drag for me yet, though getting the turns done has become more laborious.
It might help if we change the hosting to every 72 hours.

Note that Caelum only needs 5 capitals to win. Presuming he will take Mictlan’s VP soon, to win outright he will just need one more capital: that of Sauromatia, Abysia, or Fomoria.

I am fine with changing timer to 72 hours.

I have a Tartarian Cyclops whose leader icon has a red background now. And his orders are to “Mutter”.

i’m scared

what is happening

He’s got an insanity problem. He’ll probably be okay next turn if it makes you feel better :)

Aside from his infernal muttering, I guess I’m doing okay…

thx!

Pax Ermor:

I’m thinking of changing from Atlantis to Bandar Log, the first nation I ever played in the MA game. Where i played so poorly I was getting beat by MA Ulm.

I think having 2 water nations is pretty tough and MA R’lyeh should crush MA Atlantis like a bug.

Damnit, another missed turn.

I think I’ve missed at at least 40% of my turns over the last 10 turns or so, since it became clear that I can’t lose this game. Ironically it drags the game that I want to see finished ASAP. <sigh> What a vicious circle.

David, perhaps someone who wants to play through the endgame would like to sub for you. And if this fails, perhaps you could just go AI, and even if baruk manages to come back and win, we all can admit that you really won.

I don’t mean to speak for baruk, but as far as I’m concerned, you’ve got me. I think I can keep busting out of my capital for a while, but eventually I’ll run out of gems and verve.

Mistspell: Turn 90 is here. Ulm continues the long, long hard slog vs Pan. There’s been some ups generally forcing Pan back and opening a second front and a lot of downs: Losing a bunch of air queens and letting Pan cast them so Pan has 2/3 Airqueens that have reeked havok, Pan’s pretender dropping an any large army and blasting them with wrathful skies if my army is in Pan dominion.

I think I’m wearing Pan down because i can replace my losses more easily than Pan can replace his. But he’s got serious raiders in my backfield and it’s impossible to know when another 80 white centaurs suddenly appear to wreck another Ulm army.

I have developed a few new tricks to break my typical pattern and we’ll see if it works. I’ve decided to follow Kraaze’s advice and try multiple medium size raiding forces to put pressure on Pan.

I have thought time was on my side but now I’m not so sure. Of all countries, Marignon has become a power. The Marignon - War has become very, very heated going back and forth and is a microcosm of the big Ulm-Pan war.

Still, I think I can eventually knock Pan off (although last time I thought that I got whooped so bad, I lost about 15 turns of progress in 3 turns).

Just played my turn in Mist Spell last night…

I wouldn’t call me, Marignon, a super power by any means. Basically I’m alive at the whim of Pan. I’m trying to make TC feel my might, but every time I push them back a bit, I meet up with their big ass army and get destroyed. We’ll see how the latest excursion has gone in a turn or three.

Been a pretty interesting game though, probably the longest one that is still fun.

Alright, I’ve procrasinated enough, and its time to get this game off the ground. You who would be gods, the time is now. You are given one week (deadline 7/16) to submit your design to qt3dominions@gmail.com . Failure to do so may result in your spot going to another player.

The following must be included in the email.

  1. Your Pretender design, password protected.
  2. Your qt3 screen name, and just for my convience what nation you have chosen.
  3. The email address you wish to have disseminated to the other players, even if its the same as the email address you use to submit your design.
  4. Vote for the following settings: a) Magic Site Frequency, b) number of VPs required for victory (1 VP per capital), c) anything else as I think of it. A non-vote is considered abstaining. If you’re not sure, I suggest voting for “default.”

The map is Etruscae, and as soon as I figure out why the .jpg is not showing up in the proper folder I’ll post a picture here and distrubute it via shrapnel’s forums. However, you should automatically download the map when you first log into the game, so do not feel like you have to have it.

I’ve had this game ever since it was released, but have yet to sit down and play a game. I’ve read the entire manual, but I don’t know what’s keeping me from playing it. Maybe it’s the UI and graphics that are discouraging me. As a newb, what do the pros suggest I do to get into the game?

I had the exact same experience, and it wasn’t until I played a couple of low-key games with a couple of friends that I ceased to care about the UI and graphics.

p.s. Hooray for Pax Ermor, and thanks, GA!

Go through the tutorial. Made a huge difference for me. Then play some games against the computer. Then, once you’re beating the computer on a regular basis, play with others and get destroyed for awhile. That’s how I did it anyway.

Or you could go the opposite way.

I knew all along I’d only be interested in playing against real people (well, I think Nick is a real person). I played enough of the tutorial and SP to get the general idea (I never came even close to finishing an SP game). Then I signed up for the next MP game, made friends with a neighbor nation who seemed to be being played by someone who knew what they were doing, and asked for hints and tips in exchange for my loyal allegiance.

Hey now!

Bumping to make sure more people realize I’m now accepting Pretender Designs. Also, pleace note in the above post an the presence of an asterisck. That means I’ve recieved your email and it had everything I wanted it to have. Remember, deadline of 7/16. Please, if you no longer want to play, or need an extension on the deadline, let me know ASAP (via PM or the above email address) so I can find a replacement.

Nah, it’s ok, I am going to try to finish this game. 72h host will help.

But thank you for your offer, I’ll keep it in mind if the amount of my available time would change.

PAY ATTENTION THIS TIME!!!

I just recieved two emails that did not include my instructions. It may sound like I’m being nit-picky, but I have my reasons. If you got a reply from me saying recieved, everything was fine. If not, please resubmit everything in a single email (the address of which needs to be physically listed in the body of the email).

On another note, C is now Score Charts, on or off. I can’t believe I forget to include that in the voting. Anyways, if you’ve already recieved a “recieved” reply from me, feel free to vote on this through a PM. Everyone else, I expect this vote to be included in the actual email. The address is qt3dominions@gmail.com . I will not publicly disseminate anyone’s email address, just give it to Kraaze. In general, QT3 PM’s will be fine for communicating.

If you have any questions, post them here or PM me. I’ll answer best I can. Thanks for everyone whose gotten their stuff in already!
