mailed pretender…

Thx for hosting

Gents… I’m in the middle of moving and there is almost no chance I’ll have my computer online and be able to send a pretender by tomorrow. I’ll probably need until Friday. If that’s not good, I’ll give up my spot, though I would like to play if you guys don’t mind waiting a couple of extra days.

What nation? I’d be happy to make your pretender for you…

Pretender sent. thx!

The new turn will host soon, but Fomoria’s turn was still missing last time I’ve checked. Baruk, you don’t want to miss this turn, it is what you have been waiting for a long time - huge battle over your capital, and this time I intend to win. >;)

Sent in my Pax Ermor God.

Morning Star

I’m not going to miss this one. 20 hours left, just the finishing touches to do, making sure the flaming pigs are well oiled and such.

Oiled pigs, huh? Sounds yammi. :) It is very gracious of you to prepare a feast for the conquerers of your capital Baruk, after on and off siege that has lasted for almost half of the game. >;)

(Of course the feast he may be preparing is for the crows to feed upon the mountain of broken bodies of would-be conquerers. But we shall see…)

Wow, how the hell did I lose that battle?!?

On my reply I won it easily. Between Relief+Regeneration+Protection From Lighting + Fog Warriors+ Wind Guide + Flame Arrows , and 60+ mages/3 Archedevils, several tartarians, pretender, AQ and several hundreds archers, my army completely annihilated Fomorian defenders. Few surviving Fomorian Kings SCs have routed from the field, while I have suffered very little casaulties. In fact the only SC commander that I have lost was my AQ. I also lost about 40 archers. I probably lost few mages.

However according to battle resutls I have lost the battle. It does say that I have killed almost all fomorian troops and 5 out of 25 commanders. But it also tells me that 20 out of my 65 commanders have died, and about half of my army was destroyed as well. How?

Very wierd. Baruk, tell me please what did you see on your reply?

P.S. Damn, and Baruk was not kidding about pigs. He only forgot to mention that they were made out of metal, and that they prefer eating you rather than being eaten.

Did something cause the battle not to end, causing you to die en-masse to a time-out?

Not on my reply. The battle had promptly ended as soon as my troops had killed last remaining defenders.

I think I remember seeing this discussed on the Shrapnel forums, where sometimes the outcome reported (and perhaps even what the game takes to be what really happened), does not match the “video.” Ask there for more about the bug.

I have now recieved everything from everybody… except Matt Perkins, wahoo (who only gave me the pretender), and Dave Perkins (who sent everything except the Pretender). I PM’ed Matt an ultimatum to get his stuff in 48 hours. Otherwise, I hope that Lazy Bastard has some ideas of how to play.

Hrm. You’re patched to the same version as the host, right?

That’s typically a version mismatch issue. Turn was generated by a host not on the same version as the client observing the battle.

Just curious when the start date is. I’m heading into the wilderness this Friday and won’t be able to take a turn until Sunday night.

Unless there was a new patch during the last week, or host had reverted to the previous version, there could not be a version mismatch. I certainly haven’t changed the version of my client since the last patch a month or so ago. (the one that had introduced insane tartarians)

Yup, exactly the same thing, Fomoria routing off the field with a summary saying that I’d won.
I’m using version 3.17, and I seem to remember that the host had patched to 3.17 also.

One suggestion on the Shrapnel forums was that different operating systems may give different results.

It’s too bad that iron pigs are only size 3, so can’t trample Caelian troops.
The barghests did pretty well, making short work of the Air Queen. The darkness spell that helped me in that match up unfortunately made the Archdevils almost untouchable. It was nice to see a magic duel taking out the astrally-skilled, Aegis/Magebane-wielding Archdevil, but a shame that phoenix pyre allowed him to reincarnate (with all items) behind my castle walls…
I wonder how I managed to win the “real” battle - I’ve noticed other erroneous replays tend to involve magic duel.

If you look up a few posts, you will see Matt’s request for an extension on account of being in the midst of a move. Perhaps you could lighten up just a half a notch.

Come to think - I’m heading out for Sat through Wednesday (my last travel all summer), with maybe a 50/50 chance of internet access. If we’re not waiting, maybe someone will volunteer to play the 1st couple of turns for me - I can provide pretty complete directions for how they should go.

Well, my part is to collect everything from everybody, turn into an easy to follow list, and send it off to Kraaze, who will then set up the game on his server. I’d host it on mine, but I don’t have one.

Once he gets the stuff, he’ll set up the game when he has time. This might be a day or it might be two weeks. Though a 48 hour timer must eventually be added, its standard operating procedure to leave the timer off until everyone has at least taken their first turn. Since it seems everyone and their mother is on vacation, it might be a couple weeks before the timer will be enacted (its common courtesy to turn it off, but leave the game open, while people are on vacation or otherwise busy).

As for my part, I’ve decided to send off everything come Saturday evening, thats the 19th. I have an afternoon engagement, so won’t be available to answer questions on that day, so please ask any questions or make any requests before that day. Until then, you are free to change your votes or even your pretender. Please change votes via email. I’ll try to tally up what I have so far and post it later this evening.

Matt submitted his stuff last night and I’ve made arrangements with Dave Perkins. Long story short, I should be able to submit the stuff this evening. I have guests right now, so I’ve been a little busy, but they should be elsewhere this evening and I’ll have time to do everything this evening.

See all you aspiring gods in game.
