Mistspell:

Think everyone stalled last turn. Knew you were gone and I don’t think anyone took a turn. But game is still going on.

Pax Ermor

It looks like everyone but Abysia has submitted turn 1. I think that is Perkins, Matt.

That seems very unlikely!

I thought it was on pause like I thought mistspell was on pause. I’ll make turns tonight after the work.

On another note, I’m leaving on my vacation Thursday morning, and won’t be back until the following Friday. I hope, but am not guarenteed, the ability to take turns. So, the timer stays off for the time being… BUT PLAYERS SHOULD STILL TAKE TURNS IF THEY ARE ABLE, so the game keeps moving forward. Eventually, I’ll ask Kraaze to put it on a 48 hour timer, so be prepared to do that at least.

A lies is u.

Not only did a few people create prophets out of their ordinary, non-priest commanders, but two people created prophets out of their scouts. Stealthy dominion-spreaders, I assume? But then, why create a prophet out of a non-priest commander?

Better a scout prophet than no prophet ;)

But I’m going to make a prophet… just not on turn 1. Is that considered a bad idea? Have I already lost?!

Scouts are good at sneaky dominion spread. And they’re pretty hard to kill b/c you don’t know where they are.

I usually make a prophet first turn b/c I want the dominion and him smiting for a 2nd turn attack. I might recruit a level 3 priest and then make him a prophet for a level 4 priest but many countries don’t get level 3 priests.

As to you losing: It’s almost impossible to lose on the first turn unless you took misfortune and have your lab burned down and you didn’t recruit a mage or you attacked blind and died with your pretender.

It’s much easier to lose before the first turn by making mistakes crafting your pretender/country.

Though the manual says otherwise, turning a priest into a prophet (unless he was H-3) struck me as a bad idea, as no matter what his level he’d be H-3 anyways. So, pick the best unit at your disposal to be a prophet. Scouts offering the combination of stealth and dominion spread is one way, I suppose. Though the only times I’ve made a scout a prophet I’ve used a bless strategy and wanted a blesser by turn-2 to start attacking.

I was kidding about losing already. Thanks for the replies!

Pax Ermor: turn 2

I’ll tell y’all later why my prophet is a scout…

Meanwhile - other things you can learn from having the score graphs on:

Machaka attacked blind on turn 1. Gutsy move - hope that SC pretender didn’t pick up any nasty afflictions.

Ulm has an awake (presumably SC) pretender who is a pansy compared to Cosmo of Machaka - because he just researched on turn 1.

Ermor, the Friendly Empire

Mistspell and Inquisitor are going to go offline sometime this Friday, and return whenever cable is set up at the new place. Might be quite a few days.

You didn’t just call Iron Maiden a pansy, did you? I didn’t think so…

Let’s see…

Iron Maiden, buried in spell books in a nice cozy tower.
Cosmo, charging hell-bent for leather into a completely unknown fight.

We just calls 'em as we sees 'em.

Ermor: The Friendly Empire

Concerning Pax Ermor.

I had hoped to take another turn this evening, but it looks like that won’t happen. So, I’m out for the next week. I’ll be back sometime Friday. I might have internet access, but doubtful.

Ampersand Interrobang gets my vote for most inspired Pretender name. My Pretender, Garnet Cattail, is a little bit of a puzzle. First person to guess* the answer wins a shiny gold piece, to be delivered via the severed head of that nation’s scout. You’ll find the gold piece in the mouth, where the tongue used to wag.

  • one player in the game (besides me) knows, and his participation is prohibited

A reminder for Inquisitor and Mistspell players; the server is down until next week.

Some alternatives I jotted down in notepad:

monkfish vaudeville
caribou bisque
deathspongeman

Often hard to tell whether you’ve hit on something good, or if you’ve made up a name that will make you wince everytime you see it.

Anyway, looks like just Greatatlantic/Pythium to move. I tried to gamble this turn and lost a lot of troops for my trouble.

FYI: I’m back and just took my turn. I had hoped to take it this afternoon, but flight got overbooked and then the subsequent flight was delayed. In the absence of objections, I’ll ask for a 48 hour timer be put on the game soon.
