hmmm please look for hetzer translation german - english… ;)

as i have told Machaka nothing personally…

No. That one was just an excursion hoping to reclaim some of the provinces you’ve raided. I still don’t have a decent counter against a live human raiding my lands.

I can still replace what you’ve killed, I just can’t get in a square blow against you. BTW, Nothing personal taken. I do understand.

Speaking of Pax Ermor, I appear to have started a war with Ulm I’m not going to win…

In german militaryspeak we call that a nebelkerze (smokegrenade)… ;)

Just incase people have not noticed, I posted an announcement on the original November, 5 game announcement. Do read it. Also, two slots remain open.

Guys,

Please read the announcement again. You need to email me your settings preferences. This way, I keep everything nice and neat in one spot.

I think I’ll play around with Abysia. All I know about them is that their mages are crappy old men so no one will need to attack me, you guys can just ignore me and I’ll die of old age.

I won’t leave you in suspense, Ashdod has managed to hold onto his capitol, for now. I attacked with heavy infantry principes backed by a whole lot of Theurgs of various classes. He defended with a lot of SC’s, evocation mages, a couple of weaker death mages who spammed skeletons, and his Pretender cyclops. His strategy was basically to spam blade wind and use flaming arrows while his SC’s powered up. My strategy was to counter the evocations and arrows with storm and fog warriors while my mages killed SC’s with Soul Slay. Blade Wind was practically useless in the battle, as were the undead once my theurgs started picking banishment to cast. The problem was he cast anti-magic which really robbed Soul Slay of its effectiveness, and the AI decided to go after weak undead units instead of continuing to cast SC counters. I still might have pulled it off had I brought more troops, but hind site is 20-20.

Fortunately, most of my important mages survived. Now, I have three options. 1) Immediately attack the castle again with changed tactics, especially since I moved additional troops next to the capital last turn. 2) Regroup in another province to make sure my army is intact before trying again. Or, 3) willingly divide my forces to go after some other territories and kill his economy before reinforcing and going after the capital again.

Regardless, I’ve succeeded in at least buying more time for Vanheim, as the siege there is broken.

Blade Wind is not very effective vs heavy armor but it tears through lightly armored troops like buttah.

Because I expanded to fast for one and started a war before I was ready for another…

But the big reason is because Ulm is casting something that cools down the entire field of war before I can do anything and I don’t know how to counter that. He’s destroying me before I ever do much damage since all of my units fight better in Heat. It’s a good tactic.

Whoops! Had another big battle with Ermor, but unfortunately left the troops behind whilst sending in the mages on their own. Not good. Think a stray click whilst I was double or triple checking my turn must have cancelled the crucial move order.
Casualties were about 450 Ermorians to 3 of my mages, but my losses will be less easy to replace.

Ouch! I’m sure you would have done much better with troops. I was wondering why you thought the PD would provide an adequate screen for you mages. On the other hand, I blew through several death gems shadow-blasting PD. We do thank you for all the equipment, it was nice that the 3 mages who didn’t run away were the ones with all the gear.

In other news, I discovered that it is not a good idea to leave a scout in a Machakan province these days.

Biggest flaw for the Dominion interface. Whenever you shift items around or do a number of things it cancels move orders. I had a disastrous order in Mistspell that added another 25 turns to the game when my key commander got left out.

My trick is to use the A button to move all the commanders in and then hand select folks you Don’t want to go. Do that at the end after all itmes have been shifted etc.

Worst case scenario this turn was to have lost the fort that Ermor was seiging. From that perspective it was a good turn, as Ermor decided to be cagey and pulled his army back. I lost a couple of assassins as a result of this move. They’d had a good run, knocking out several commanders, and had played a part in the demise of 100 undead cavalry.

A single Ermorian Grand Thaumaturg (commanding one skeleton) had been left behind to maintain the seige. Not a problem for my army, however, this small force incurred full gem usage by my mages - I would have hoped that my script for the anticipated major battle would have been ignored. On balance, I could imagine battles where the AI overriding my script could be a bigger annoyance, but it would still be nice to have a more sophisticated AI.

The sieging ‘force’ was supposed to be just the one soulless. Not sure why the mage didn’t get the memo about pulling back. Just a stubborn old man, I suppose.

Reading this thread when you’ve never played Dominions 3 is a very surreal experience.

Pax Ermor:

I’m without Internet at home for a few days. Since I’m currently pretty screwed anyway, I don’t mind staling turns, but I’d like to be present when I’m taken down, so anyone plans to attack me, there should be no need to put the game on hold.
