We Friendly Folk of the Friendly Empire admit to being hugely jealous of Bandar Log and Pythium’s kick-ass national summons. At least we get the occasional pleasure of watching those summons self-destruct. Like the 4 Harbingers who tried to storm the Ashdod capital a few months back. Or the Rudra who thought that 22 was enough MR to get away with carrying the Stone Sword into battle. He very nearly pulled off a classic double, as he finished the battle standing right next to his brother Rudra. We had quite high hopes there. But at least we have this really cool sword now, even if we can’t find anyone with the guts to carry it. Oh, we also have a very stylish Rudra statue to put out in the courtyard.

Sigh…22 MR should have been enough of well. I’m learning a bit about the Rudra. Not and the weaknesses of 20 MR.
On the other hand, we’ve been subject to 3 straight turns of a monolith teleporting on top of us and taking over our armies. Ermor has been wacking Bandar Log pretty good.
Although I finally had things work out last turn like I wanted. But we lost our main jump off pt with temple to attack Ermor. Bad times. And the undead have waded into the field against us with a few thousand troops there.
Sigh…22 MR should have been enough of well
Going from page 5 of the manual, ~3 in 100 attacks will cause petrification to the wielder with MR 22, which isnt great odds for you especially if you have quickness. You’ll probably want at the very least 26 MR.
Have fun against the monolith, sounds like a great game you guys are having!
Yep, with the open-ended die rolls 22 is nowhere near enough MR to use the stone sword.
Meanwhile, the Bandar-Ermor war is ensuring the demise of both parties. Not that Bandar had much of a choice. The starting map was grossly unfair, with only Ermor, Bandar and Pythium having room to really expand, and Bandar was sandwiched between the other two.
As for the Oracle - a huge barrage of seeking arrows sent her to the great beyond this turn.
One of the arrows had a message on it. It said, “Perhaps the Ermor/Bandar war is not in the best interests of the one who fired this.” Unfortunately, that arrow did not find a suitable target.
I’d bet my bottom nature gem that most of those arrows were bought with Pythian air gems.
I keep telling Bandar that only Pythium is benefiting from this war, and he does not have to keep going with it. He replies “I am Pythium’s lap dog, and I will do whatever my master says”.
At least that’s what my advisors tell me his replies say.
Bandar is caught between an undead rock and an angelic hard place.
Don’t be fooled by names. Those angels are evil. The undead, of course, are quite friendly.

Ermor finally guessed wrong in rock/paper scissors with the teleporting pretender and my teleporting mages trying to cast returning. The monolith was trapped in the open in enemy dominion so was low on HP. And Bandar log quickly arranged for a suitable greeting to be given to Deux Ermor. Glad it was successful.
Yes, this has been a particularly brutal war with Pythium the winner. I’m not sure I really had a choice. Yes, I could have gone to war with Pythium and then Ermor would have won.
One decision is that Pythium vs Erieu is a tough fight for Pythium. The elves have a fair amt of conquered territory and are a power in their own right. Ermor would roll over Shin rather quickly, albeit taking a beating. So I believe that taking on Ermor is better for my long-term interests.
BTW, one huge complication for the game is that Hetzer has disappeared. We should try to find a substitute b/c he’s one of the top major powers (although at this pt pretty much everyone is a major power except for Vanheim and a hard pressed Shin). R’lyeh is the wildcard and could tip the balance in every war being fought or that could be fought.
I vote we set R’lyeh AI. Whoopee! Total chaos!
It wasn’t that long ago that he cast Well of Misery. Lets give Hetzer a few more opportunities to get back on the turn taking wagon before resorting to drastic, irrevocable measures.

Given that half of my coast has been overrun by hundreds of undead, I totally support this measure!
Apparently there is more than one way to skin a monkey…

If nothing else, our war is certainly making the score graph an interesting read each turn.
Does anyone know if Hetzer has managed to take a turn yet? If not, then its time to discuss options about replacing him or just setting him to AI. I’ll want an opinion from everybody playing, please.
First, I hope he is OK, and his absence is just computer trouble, or too much work, or something benign like that. He certainly has not taken any turns lately (has he been playing his turns in 5th November?).
I cannot see any way that setting R’lyeh AI does the game any good.
I propose two options - both involve just letting R’lyeh continue to stale:
-
We all agree to leave the water alone and have the game finish as a purely dry-ground affair.
-
We just keep playing. Anyone can try to invade the water if they want.
I think that if we want to keep the door open for Hetzer to pick and keep playing, we should adopt option two. My feeling about option 1 is that it would be an unfair advantage to R’lyeh to get special “hands-off” treatment and then be allowed to jump back into the game.
I suggest option 2 especially if GreatAtlantic is willing to share his Ichtyid horde with me! Actually, if I were to attempt to fight a staled R’lyeh, I would have plenty to contend with on the land. There are something like a hundred Mind Hunt casting dudes in piles on the shore, looking for trouble.
I’ve thought up an option 3!
We only let Ulm and Shin go after water. That could be some slight compensation for the royal screwing they got in the original map setup.
Hetzer hasn’t played turns in 5th of November either. It’s a bit weird, since he’s normally so enthusiastic.
Anyway, it means that Agartha and Arco are moving to dismantle C’tis.
Maybe we should consider setting C’tis to AI?
Hey now, we were dismantling him well before he stopped playing… :)
