DireAussie posted his request a couple of days ago, a few posts up the page.
People should also note that asking for an extension in the thread probably won’t actually get you one - send Greatatlantic a PM and he will tell Kraaze what to do with the timer.
Oh yeah – color me embarrassed!
Correct, have to go through the proper channels. Trust me, you don’t want me exercising personal judgment on this one. You namby-pamby sissboys and your 72 hour timers are a disgrace to all hardcore Dom3 players. If it was up to me the timer would be on a four hour setting all day on the weekends, and every other Tuesday as well.
Well, I got a bit of bad news. I was just assigned another project in my professional life (being at the bottom of the totem stinks). Meaning the next 30 to 40 days are going to be even busier for me. Which will probably translate into more delays or outright stalled turns for me. So, I’ve decided to fish around for a sub. Anyone interested? Feel free to PM me if you want a national rundown. Right now, Pythium really needs somebody with time for long turns and diplomacy, which isn’t me.
I am back and will play all my turns in around 14 hours time (absolutely buggered after 6 hour motorcycle ride).
Sorry to hear that you’ve been lumped with more work Greatatlantic :( Pythium has some mega-armies and would be good end-game experience for anyone wanting to have a go at it (one of the main reasons I took over R’lyeh). You’d be all set to go with your 4 arcane dominion casts in a single battle and my 6 stolen abominations!!
That’s how we finish this game! We put it on a 15-minute timer and play it out as a blitz!
I vote we do it from 2-6AM Australian time :)
Meanwhile, a tip of the hat to the dear departed Zira of Bandar Log, and her human wahoo. All in all, an entertaining war with a lot of back-and-forth until the tide, and the dominion candles, finally tipped my way. I don’t think I’ve ever dominion-killed anyone anywhere near so late in the game, and certainly not such a large nation. If you pop in again, wahoo, you might tell us what you picked for your initial dominion.
I wonder if you couldn’t have staved off dominion death by preaching. Before that last “wind guide instead of mass flight” battle, I’d have said it wouldn’t have made any difference. But after I lost my main northern army you were quickly retaking much of your original territory - until you ran out of candles.

That’s a great idea! Hey err…what time!?! :)
I wasn’t looking out for the dominion death so it has come as a surprise and changes the game dramatically. Congratulations on achieving such a feat.
Also, thanks for the extension. Phew, that turn took a hell of a lot of planning, almost twice as my other two games put together. I was a little off in my 14 hour prediction (more like 28 hours!). I’ll look at the results tomorrow and for now I’ll just dream that it all game off good!
Having enjoyed a brief period of peace, Eriu fights its fifth war with tiny Vanheim, a former ally. It disgusts the Eriu horse mages to cast lightning against their equine cousins, so Eriu’s Air Queens and their small army of Mechanical Men fly across Pythium lands to fight Vanheim.
Now rumors of a creature never before seen filter back to the capital.

It appears to be some kind of cosmic DNA gone wrong. The populace on the border is likely to be hot on the heels of these rumors.
“Very powerful none then less” indeed.
Eriu, do not regret your decision to conquer your equine cousins, their prosperity and chivalry were lost eons ago. All that is left of the once great nation is goat herders who send all their wealth to Pythium for protection. They had their chance to prove themselves worthy - I sent a secret message to their king regarding possible alliance versus their slave masters - but I did not receive a reply. Perhaps the king was too far gone from the Pythium mind control experiments.

Think on this - combine my flying marbles with your big blob of poop and you get the most powerful unit in the game!!
I don’t know how my big blob of poop works! So far, he hasn’t eaten any dead. But he does love his little flying carpet.
(I cast Gift of Reason on him.)

think the Dominion was 6 but maybe 7. I had my pretender and prophet and about 8 priests preaching in my last province. bit surprised to see 2 candles wiped out that quick but you have a ton of temples out. I’m guessing there might be a stone idol or 2 there.
I thought you could overwhelm me pretty quickly once you got your undead armies rolling. I had a couple of unfortunate misconceptions on my master plan to stop you which hurt (the biggest being that master enslave doesn’t work on undead). The backbreaker was you coming out of the besieged for to wipe out my good sized army. I was playing a little fast and loose by trying to expand more territory while keeping the fort under siege and you caught me shuffling my army around. I knew you’d increase in strength over time so I had to be the aggressor which was fine till I lost the 1 fight. I should have attacked you earlier in the game b/c I knew I had to do it before you got master enslave. I ended up a few turns short sadly.
From a strategic perspective, attacking you was still the right move. You’d have rollled through Shin pretty much no problem and Ulm as well. On the flip side, I wasn’t too concerned about Pythium’s end game. I’d take Rudra with a storm staff and weapons against a Seraph any day of the week. I had better weapons and better SC than Pythium so I figured I could take him out end-game. I also counted on some help from R’lyeh and had some discussoins there but that petered out and even worse R’lyeh became your ally.
I could use a little turn extension in Pax since I have had to catch up my other games after my holidays. I will have it in within 48 hours.
Also I’m happy to go to 96 hours per turn if it helps out GreatAtlantic a bit. I could use the extra time per week myself but I’m fine either way.
Goats? We herd swine. Magical swine!
My position in Pax has been pretty hopeless after I messed up in the war against Ashdod, but Pythium has been good enough to leave me alone, not requiring tribute or anything, so I’ve repaid his niceness by turning down offers to go against him. I’m unlikely to be able to do much against Eriu, but I’ll go down fighting if I remember to submit my turns in time.
Sorry lads, my prophecy of to much work has come true. I haven’t even downloaded the lastest turn yet, much less started to do it. I doubt I’ll have a chance to check again until least the weekend, but thats what I thought last weekend. So, anybody up for some subbing? Alternatively, I’d be willing to go AI as it will be at least a month before my schedule returns to sanity.
No worries, Greatatlantic. If you haven’t heard back from anyone about taking over, I doubt you will. There aren’t many as hardcore as DireAussie, who can sub in at such an advanced stage. (Some of your battle with him have been marvelous to watch, btw.)
I’d say you’re safe going AI at this point. Maybe in a month, we can play a smaller game like you suggested.
5th November - Well, I’m done (Patala). Congratulations to Mercutio playing Atlantis - an impressive display of power. He has the game in the bag. It will take the full concentration of all nations to stop him and I dont believe that will happen, especially since Utgaard is staling turns. I thank Midgaard and Gath for their unwavering alliance. Perhaps if Man had helped rather than hindered we might have had a small chance to defeat Atlantis, but despite my pleas to Man to switch sides that did not happen. I can understand why, but he won’t win with Atlantis as an ally, and the game is about winning.
A warning to my friends - guard your commanders well, Atlantis hit me with 4 Send Tupilaks and took out 2 of my most important ones. Good luck, and see you in the afterlife.
A tankard of Gath ale has been poured from the capital walls onto the bones of Gathian soldiers who died with Atlantan finprints on their chests. In memory of Patala.
The only reason Gath survives is as a vassal of Atlantis. If there is to be any hope against them, it must come from Acroscephale and Utgaard and Agartha and Man and perhaps other nations with whom Gath has had no contact.

5th Nov- Arco will continue to send turns in as long as possible, but the truth is that Atlantis has to be shaking in their boots to face a foe that can’t crack the fortress of a player that has stalled for the last 20 turns.
I made it to the end game. Not enough to be a power, but at least to see an end game. We celebrate small victories in arco.
(Seriously, if better foes than I have declared Atlantis the winner, and they have, I’ll not argue or disagree.)
This is one of the reasons I don’t like playing with graphs off. There was some talk about how bad ass Atlantis was, but apparently people didn’t realize just how strong. The graphs are supposed to represent information you’d have about another nation just by existing yourself. Without them you’re just blindly flailing in the dark, even more so than a nature normally would…
Fun game though. I just don’t think I’ll play another game with my eyes closed (graphs off). It’s too easy to convince people you aren’t what you are when everyone is playing blind. :D
I agree. A nice middle ground would be if you could, at the beginning of the game, choose which graphs would be available.
You could keep the abstract, “publically available” info like # of provinces and hide the rest.
