I much prefer graphs off, but maybe that’s because I’m obsessive about scouting. Relying on graphs only tells you how big everyone is. I want to see their battles. I want to know what they bring and how they are equipped and how they are scripted.
I also like to get a fast start, but with graphs you can painted with an early bulls-eye that you never lose. I started fast in a graphs-on game over at OO. People were still using my fast start as the basis for their alliance decisions 40 turns later, even though there was a much, much more powerful nation at that stage of the game (I’m guessing Ashdod has that game wrapped up by now, right DA?).
There was some talk about how bad ass Atlantis was, but apparently people didn’t realize just how strong.
Most people realised - 3 of us actively ganged up on Atlantis/Man and I believe you were the recipient of some of the PM’s too (though I had few scouts so couldnt see if you were actually helping the cause). So pretty much everyone who had a land border with Atlantis was attacking him. But he was too powerful - beat back both Gath and Midgaard’s main armies - and Man had very large armies running amok towards Patala, which Midgaard defeated and then I finished off the rest, but by then it was too late. Atlantis steamrolled both me and Gath and from last reports Midgaard wasnt faring very well either.
It’s too easy to convince people you aren’t what you are when everyone is playing blind.
So we can all blame you for Atlantis’s imminent victory? ;)
I’m guessing Ashdod has that game wrapped up by now, right DA?
Yes, that game’s over and I won convincingly. Though you might get one up on me in Pax I think! Shinu and Ulm seem to have lost interest in the game, staling more often than not, so looks like its a showdown between you, me and Eriu.
Pax - I’m going away for about 5 days from tomorrow. I may need an extension, not this turn, but next, if I dont get back early enough. If I stale though its no biggie, the Pythium AI is done for.
Thanks
I’ve been fighting Atlantis since C’Tis left the game… :D
While they were running rough shod over you guys, they were taking all of my land from me.
The original point being though, that if people know what’s going on, nations can’t get so far ahead in what amounts to secrecy.
eek, suddenly realised I’m in Nippon for 2 weeks from sunday sans laptop…so…
Many thanks to Dire Aussie for the Patalan War.
I’m happy to call Atlantis a winner, but if you all want to game on…
What shall I do? (that is, apart from being ineffectual)
Evil
Very sorry for staling like a month-old slice of bread left on the window sill. Had some RL issues … I will take my turns in the AM and will try to keep up but it may be best to find a replacement. My time right now is limited and I won’t be able to invest all of my superior masterful strategic intellect! So, sadly, I’ll just push some troops around and keep my fingers crossed… Anybody want to take over? PM me.
Speaking of stale turns - the Pax Ermor server is not reachable now (should be about 1 hour before the hosting time). If the server actually crashed, I’ll have a new 72 hours to get my turn done, so no worries. But if it is just Kraaze’s internet connection gone kaput the serverwill probably host without me.
If it pops back up in a bit I’ll try to do something, but I’m not going to spend an hour doing a turn that I might not be able to submit anyway.
The server would have hosted 10 minutes ago. I did my turn this morning offline then tried to upload it, grrr, wasted an hour of my day.
Kraze just PM’d me - dominions crashed on the server so it didnt host, its back up now with a timer reset. Yay!
I’m happy with calling it for Atlantis too.
Yikes, DA! I can’t see how you could take a PM exchange that said:
And read my reply, which said:
as meaning “I agree that we dispense with the 3-turn NAP period, lets attack each other next turn”.
If your drive to win is so strong that you need to to take advantage of me when I don’t have the time to think through turns, that’s OK, I guess. Would you prefer it even easier? If so, I’ll just stale out the rest of the game.
Man! You said you did not care about the NAP nor the game anymore, basically said you didnt give a sh*t. I figured I’d just have some fun and experiment with the tactics I had planned.
Now you do care about it? Why didnt you just say “I agree with your proposal. Sorry I havent had much time to play, once the nap is up hopefully we’ll make a good game out of it…”.

I feel disheartened that you feel that way about me. Again, please reread your post and see just how nonchalant it is and the fact that you’ve been staling turns as has everyone else except Eriu. Yes I want to win but I figured that you didnt care anymore so I was going to have some fun because up to now I have had little fun since taking over R’lyeh. I’ve been taunted by Pythium/Bandar then Pythium went AI then everyone else except Eriu started staling so I may just have well been playing single player for the last 15 turns and now you’re saying you dont care and you’re on life support, well what am I supposed to think?
I was a bit hot when I saw the turn this morning because I have played 87 turns of this game without staling a single one*. And that includes the recent turns - only Ulm has been staling.
Yes, my interest and time have been minimal since the end of the Bandar war. Interest has been hard to maintain for a game that has seen 3 separate very lengthy stretches in which one or another player has requested numerous and lengthy time extensions. Time has been short the past couple of weeks because of house selling/buying negotiations, but I have at least taken the time to do the minimal upkeep tasks: recruit, shuffle scouts, and invade Shinuyama. As I said: I hope that once the house situation is resolved I can spare a bit more time and energy. Nonchalance is not the equivalent of “I agree that we skip the 3-turn requirement and attack each other this turn” or “I surrender”. I was counting on the 3 turns to buy me a week of time.
* except the one time when the server was disconnected from the internet
Ok thanks for clarifying. I’ll pull back my troops and wait out the 3 turns.
I’m glad you are having this discussion in the thread, because as the third player in the game, I care about its outcome. I hope all three of us continue to play, because it ought to be very interesting.
Secretly, I admit to hoping that the game stops at this point, while I’m still alive, because my chances of beating either of you head-to-head is zero. :P
no worries dave, I’m still keen.
I think its quite funny we all get worked up over a bloody game ;)
Are there really only three of you left? I’ve still got a ton of people receiving game turn notifications. Looks like I should trim that down.
With real war on the immediate horizon, and my schedule still a disaster, I will likely be wanting more than the current 72 hours for some turns. I also have a week-long trip coming up in a couple of weeks and house moving late-June/early July then a 2-week vacation in mid-July (hard to believe, but this game has stretched from last summer’s travel season into this summer - er, Winter to y’all down under).
The easiest would be to take the timer off, but we’d have to deal with the MIA Ulm and Shin 1st. (not to impune Balut in any way - he was awesome at turning in turns for months and months)
Anyway - DA and Dave - would you be open for a timer-less stretch, if we can deal with the non-players?
Yes, that is absolutely fine with me! I would MUCH rather this game ended with all three of us playing.
I’m happy for the game to be frozen until after July. I dont think you’ll need long after that to secure victory, especially since a game bug killed all my water-breathing-ring equipped golems.
