Nov 5 is over. All hail our new undersea overlords.

At least I survived to see an endgame.

I was totally ineffective once I got there, but I did get there.

why am I still playing Nov 5? I’m just scaling up for doubtless defeat against a staled player.

It’s the only way…zip

zap…OH THAT ATLANTIS VICTORY…

congrats Altantis, me old watery mate. not in the least bit fishy.

;)

I made it to the endgame, too! By making my people the slaves of the fish! I am not proud. Good job, Mercutio… no idea, really, how you leapt ahead to such a lead so early.

Though I’m not currently in any games, I have been hard at not finishing my Pythium guide. I decided as it approached 5,000 words to just post what was there and worry about the rest later. Feel free to read and comment on it.

First comment: you can search for holy sites and actually find some?

hmmm something tells me this game is dead- thought the 3 moves ahead Podcasts would put it back in the limelight.

I was actually kind of amazed that this thread, one of the most horrendously enormous on the whole site, had actually faded from view right around the time I actually bought the game. So, my fault. Sorry, guys.

Lol, these guys at Shrapnel Games are a joke.
I was hoping to finally get this game for a reasonable price at a sale celebrating their 10th anniversary.
Turns out they are having a anniversary sale, one they call a “very special sale”, and that brings down Dom3 from $55 to … $47.
Color me unimpressed.

They had Dom3 on sale at the end of June for $46.99, too.

I wouldn’t expect it to ever go much lower. You’re either interested enough to drop $50 or so (I was) or you’re not.

No reasonable price, no sale. I was at least hoping for $40 or something.
After this “very special sale”, I agree with you, probably won’t happen.

Bumping for the inevitable post :P… and because I had to do a pretty specific search to find it.
EDIT: now I feel stupid: I could have just sorted by most posts of all time.

Not one but two games of Dominions. Pacific Dreams is designed for newbies who have no more than 1 game under their belt. As a newbie game, most options will be default, including Score Graphs on. It will take place in the Middle Era, with the overpowered Ashdod ineligible. Meanwhile, Atlantic Fervor is designed for players with some experience and designed to be played faster. This will probably mean increased gold and resource multipliers, greater magic site frequency, faster magic research, slighty easier independent, an extra starting province, Score Graphs off, and a time VP condition. I’m still messing around with the AI to get a good mix. To make things more interesting, players will choose a nation not to play, but to be thrown in a hat and randomly assigned.

Both games will be played on Six Lands, a land locked map with an east-west scroll which has been chosen for its perfect symmetry in starting positions. For a server, we will be using LLama Server, which is essentially an email based server. Having played on this server before, I still highly recommend it and it will let me directly administer the games as oppose to relying on a third party with a remote server. Check it out @ www.llamaserver.net. Most of its functions are automated. I’ll form a game as soon as I’m sure we have six players.

Pacific Dreams (please include Middle Nation of choice):

  1. ThornFalconeye: C’Tis
  2. Mysterio: Man
  3. Samurai: Abyssia
  4. ddtibbs: Ermor
  5. Uscr00ge: Ulm
  6. Kidd Socrates: Vanheim

Atlantic Fervor (please include just an age for the time being):

  1. Greatatlantic - Middle
  2. Dave Perkins - no preference
  3. Evil Steve - Early
  4. Idar Thorvaldson - Middle
  5. Matt Perkins - no preference
  6. Hetzer - Early

Any questions, post them!

Edit: On another note, if you want in, please post in this thread as oppose to PMing me.

Pacific Dreams:
race-
C’tis: Miasma

1st MP game, and first game as miasma- but they sounded nice and I should get to know them a bit as we go.

EDIT: are we going to allow the renaming of commanders- as I like to give them names that are not twenty letters long and mystical sounding? (fine either way for me)

oh, damn you and your interesting game conditions! No no no! Arg!

Miasma is interesting. They don’t have a big offensive punch, but that everyone in their territory takes disease means few want to invade. As for renaming, I’ve never found any reason to not allow it, so sure, its in unless somebody objects.

oh, damn you and your interesting game conditions! No no no! Arg!

I’ll take that as a no, for now. However, I will say these conditions (in Atlantic Fervor) are to make sure the game keeps moving and ends at a certain point, probably no more than 40 turns and likely sooner.

I’m in for Pacific Dreams! I’ve never played the game, but I’ve had it since its release. Can I get back to you with my race choice after I’ve re-read up on them?

sign me up for Atlantic Fervour. pref, early, but none if pushed

getting all hot and sweaty just thinking about it

;)

So Pacific Dreams is doing the randomly assigned nation deal, or just Atlantic?

Pacific Dreams is meant to be a straight forward introduction to online play, so no random craziness. I also picked the Middle Age since I believe it to be the most balanced (though balance and Dom3 tends to be odds with one another). So, if you want in, pick any nation except Ashdod (which I think is noticeably OP) or a sea power (which is not allowed on the Six Lands map).

Atlantic Fervor is a break from the ordinary designed to mix it up for experienced players while making sure the game doesn’t drag on
