So, where do we stand on Pacific Dreams? I noticed Pythium is no longer on the server. Are we waiting on Kidd Socrates?

Yes, the Pythium player was an univited guess. I guess thats a flaw with the llama server in that games are listed publicly and anyone can submit a pretender file. So, I dont’ know who submitted the Pythium file, but it wasn’t Kidd. However, he did say he hoped to submit his pretender this evening, at which point I’ll start the game.

ok- and about how many turns are we doing per week?

I’ll start you off with out a timer, but 48 hours is very typical once its clear the players are into the swing of things. This can be lengthened or delayed as necessary.

Vanheim submitted!

As this is our newbie game, when you guys stomp the hell out of me, I can’t wait to find out why. This is gonna be great!

And the game is up and running. Enjoy and feel free to send inquiries or troubles to me.

Your puny cultures will fall before the saurolich and his merry men: of Pestilence!

also: ive only won 1:6 games with the easy AI, so this newbie game seems my speed.

Did you say something?

yes- my turn 1 is submitted. Took me around 3 minutes, So hopefully I am not missing some key turn 1 movement.

Skilled players are able to win the game on the first turn. ;-)

Well charts are off so i cant use my super awsome hax.
but then again, we are all probably staring at the manual and all using Bruce’s tactics, rushing to counter whomever we are closest to.

Where can I find a list of icons found on the map and what they mean? I see some in Pacific Dreams that I’ve never seen before in the tutorial.

EDIT: Also, what does the “Holy:4” mean on the Recruit Units screen?

You can only recruit as many sacred units each turn as you have faith in the province ‘Holy: 4’ means you have 4 left you could build if you wanted to

What do the crowns mean? I was assuming something like really tough province defense, but as it is turn one I cannot see anything :(

I’m not sure what you mean by icons on the map. I don’t have the map you are using, maybe there are just some extra decorations on it?

“Holy 4” means that you can recruit 4 sacred units per turn. That number will go up 1 for every 5 temples you build.

The crowns should be the victory point provinces - go take them, hold them, and win the game. Easy, eh?

Ah, great! I didn’t see any mention of the “5 temples = +1 Holy” in the manual.

Yes, I was referring to the crown icon, which I figured represented a victory point after reading the forums. But Pacific Dream isn’t set to Victory Point win condition, so it’s confusing that they show up on the map. Are they worthless in games without Victory Points as the win condition?

I just connected a couple of dots. I presume the manual mentions that building temples will raise your maximum dominion. And your maximum dominion is also the max number of sacred units you can build/turn at a fort.

In that case, assuming the game was set up properly, the crowns should be just pretty decorations.

I like the fact that charts are up- for now I can see that someone has grabbed a province already(abysia… I am watching you) and I did not notice we were fighting Ermor. At least I have the largest army by a wee bit.

Now I know that on the start of every turn I am going to stare at that chart and wonder what everyone else is doing for about 30 minutes. And hope that Ermor is really far away.

I noticed that, as well. Samurai must have blindly attacked (i.e., not having first scouted it) a province with his pretender, since doing so with solely your Turn 1 troops is risky. So, I feel confident in concluding that he’s using an SC pretender.

Mighty Abysia fears no one! Especially puny independents!

…actually I really have no clue what I’m doing.
