I hope you guys discuss happenings here, for I am very interested to hear about how the good player go about their game

Yomi pretender loaded. all 6 pretenders are now in.

Glad you’re filling in, wahoo.

pop

I got a “Yomi has cheated” message. I don’t know how to interpret it.

Hopefully everyone got their turn file from llamaserver. It automatically emails it to the address the pretender file was submitted to. I just player my first turn (not submitted yet), and apparently we have a slight problem. The game flagged Yomi’s pretender as “too powerful” and labeled the offender a cheater. More likely, there was a mod involved. Know whats going on wahoo? Do I need to reset the game, delete your pretender and resubmit or can you work with whatever happened?

Sorry everyone…I’ve been playing with CBM activated and created my pretender with CBM and standards/streamers still on. I’ll redo the pretender vanilla and resubmit tonight.

My apologies to everyone.

I hate you and hereby cancel our pre-game alliance versus Evil Steve!!!

Alright Wahoo, the game’s reset and ready for you to resubmit the pretender. Now I have to let Arco know they submitted a turn in vain. Sigh…

Also, we’re doing pregame alliances! I declare permanent NAP with everyone except those I attack!

Edit:

Also, no one besides Wahoo will need to resubmit their pretenders.

BASTARDS! right that’s it, i’m, i’m…going to cry if you pick on me AGAIN!

This is all, of course, for the benefit of the new players.

THIS IS HOW YOU PLAY ADVANCED DOMINIONS!

WITH HATE!

I hate Ermor for his highly positive slopes. Evidently, he doesn’t believe in negative slopes. Does that count as hate?

You learn quickly. Now, explain why the twig grows from the branch, but the leaf grows from the twig.

AND SHOUTING. “ADVANCED” PLAYERS LOVE TO SHOUT

MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

TURN ONE IS MINE YOU MOFOS

It cracks me up how my blood slaves catch of fire as they chill near my warlocks.

I may suck with them, but I sure do love Abysia.

At this rate, the proud nation of Vanheim’s gonna be begging at street corners. An income would be -great-.

Yeah, what’s the deal with your income being so low? Are you losing a lot of battles with indies?

Well, part of it is that I’m a serious newbie at this. The rest is that I lost one battle to indies, and am surrounded by 50 troops on all sides, and one batch is heavy infantry. And I just now got a plains territory for income, which is only my third province total – and then plague or something hit and wiped out a bunch of the population there. And my temple was destroyed in a random event.

What am I doing wrong? I’d love to know so I can be more than a minor speed bump to Ermor (or whoever is actually next to me).

Did you take a lot of misfortune scales? Misfortune + death=big time problems as a plague can crush your population.

Some people like taking order + misfortune on the idea that you won’t get many random events…but do realize that the random events you do get can be crippling. That combo can kill you on the 2nd turn of the game. Edit: My personal feeling is that it’s very hard to win by misfortune 3. B/c in the late stages you’ll have so many provinces you’ll be getting events. You’ll probably be attacked once a turn by strong indies like barbarians, vampires etc.

Small little did you know for newbs. There are random events that can only occur with the right combination of scales such as death + magic or turmoil, death, magic.

Also anytime you lose to indies, that’s just big time trouble. Hunker down, find the province with best income and go squash one of the troops. Use your prophet to sermon of courage and smite away.

I feel your pain, since I lost my first indy battle, as well. It set me back a bit, but I now have a better understanding of how to prepare for battles and have been doing well, taking minimal losses, if any. But my troops are highly disciplined, unlike Ermor’s shambling corpses. Such vile creatures have no place in this world!

I didn’t take any misfortune scales, though if I recall correctly the first province I took got Misfortune 3 slapped on it the turn I took it, which was very bad.

My second battle went really well, and I’m turning it around a bit, but I still just am not bringing in any money. I know my troop levels are pretty bad, too. Anyone else played Vanheim that can chime in and give some basic advice?
