If that province still has misfortune odds are that it has a special magic site generating misfortune. Try searching it with how powerful astral, air or blood to see if you find a very nice site that generates misfortune.
Check scales of your provinces. If you see something weird like heat/cold/death etc in a province that is under your dominion but against your scales there’s a special site that is generating the scale. Usually these are very nice sites to find…
So…why are we using this crazy system of mailing files back and forth when we already have the ability to just log into a server and play…?
The ermor I just attacked was like nothing I had planned for - but I did resonably well considering I was on the offense against an army composing mostly of heavily armored yet ALIVE romans, instead of zombie romans with ok stats that had huge numbers. I have no backup plan that doesnt involve mass infantry tactics, because I have no water or fire mages to throw around great big balls of fire and ice.
At least my giant poisionous cloud from my archers worked pretty well, leaving most of his men at 2 or 3 hp… but I routed about one turn before they went down ironically- due to fear spells.
*** IMPORTANT PART OF MESSAGE ***
The gloves are off ermor!!! and if anyone will help me stem the tide of undead soon to wash over the land, Private message C’tis and i can send you some backup. or not attack you or something.
I would also be willing to parley with Ermor, because we have so much in common, and my people would love to open trade; we have undead skills too.
oh also-
Any clues on how i can get a screenshot of a battle? I tried using the print screen button on my keyboard, but it just copies a black square, and I cant alt tab to get a snippet either.
Last time I checked, only two people on Qt3 actually hosted Dominion’s servers: Marcin and Kraaze. Niether of them have been playing Dominions lately. By going with this email server (which does all the mailing, hosting, etc.), I can admin the games directly. No more asking me to ask Kraaze to reset the timer.
Also, the Llama email server has a bunch of useful features readily available, like the ability to roll back turns if necesary.
Finally, once you get the hang of it (I recommend putting a shortcut on your desktop that goes straight the the game folder in dominions3), it really isn’t any more complex than playing on a direct server. Plus, I find its easier to avoid accidently submitting turn before you are ready to do so.
When I first heard about using a PBEM system, I was worried too that it would take forever to play and was complex and such, but this system doesn’t add much time to submitting turns. Thumbs up in my book.
Huh, what? Why would you consider a site that generates misfortune in your province to be “very nice?” Please enlighten this noob!
Question for experts:
I have a Bard in an indy province. When I right-click on the province, it lists “Magic site” (grayed out) on the right side of the screen. What’s causing this to be displayed? The Bard’s spy ability?

a) It’s very nice b/c it usually has a bunch of gems as a makeup. I’d take the boost to misfortune for the boost in astral gems for example.
b) Bard is a spy. Which means that there’s already a discovered magic site there. for example he can see misty mountains or lakes or an iron mine or gold mine.
Already discovered magic site? I thought all magic sites in indy provinces are hidden until searched for and found. Are you saying a unit with the spy ability can “discover” unnamed magic sites that still need to be searched for and found to be identified and usable?
There are a few sites that are “level 0”. That means they are discovered without even searching for them - once you own the province you see the site and you get any gem income it might bring.

Do you ever get hidden magic sites in your starting province(s)?
I’m not sure, Quitch.
As for narrating the Atlantic game, I’m always leery of commenting on the game because I’m afraid it will give my opponents an edge. And I want them to lose.
But what the heck…
Atlantic is scored on cumulative VPs, with the VPs being counted at the end of the summer turn. Right off the bat, within 3 or 4 turns, there’s a summer, and you pretty much only have to worry about independents being in your way by then. So I made an Awake Wyrm pretender, who can lead some troops against independents and win just about every time. It’s ‘fear’ quality makes troops with morale of 10 or lower flee almost immediately.
My goal is to nab the VPs near me and then start negotiating with my neighbors!
A mercenary mage I hired is carrying two astral pearls, but I’m unable to transfer them to my lab. I’m able to give him an additional astral pearl from the lab, but it won’t allow me to transfer his original two or the additional one I gave him back to the lab. Is this a bug?
No… mercenaries don’t give up their loot.
Doh! So, unless the mercenary mage is used in battle, equipping him with gems is a waste, right?
Yes, unless there’s some weird thing I’m not thinking of, like a magic site he can enter and spend an astral gem to summon sprites or something.
So, what does a negative “Supply usage” number in a province mean? Does it mean the cumulative supply bonus abilities of the troops in that province is greater than the number of supplies needed to support all the troops in the province?
That’s it - your supply boosters are making more than enough for your army, so you could safely travel even in totally barren provinces.
And, from a question a few posts above: No, there are never any other/additional sites in a home province, so don’t waste time or gems searching them.
So, we’re still waiting on Matt in Atlantic Fervor. I know he had complained about the email server, but I didn’t think he had dropped out.
Does anyone in the noob game dare trade for artifacts? I’d like to get my hands on some items but do not have the research or mages.
I haven’t dropped out, just been severely busy. I’ll try to make my turn tonight.
