Yoo Guys, im back…

Dawn hasnt resolved last turn from what? Friday?

Edit: Ahhh its now hosted…

Holy hell, looks like I’m about out of the game now. Big armies with around 60 Helhirders suddenly attacking on one side, and about 200 Sauromatians and 20 hydras on the other. Poor, poor me. And to think, I thought I was doing okay when I was taking Arcoscephale lands.

Since I’m in a Warhammer mood I’ve been experimenting. Black Forest Ulm does a pretty good Empire impersonation.

Pretender is a Lord of War, earth-4; dominion is turmoil 3, productivity 3, cold 1, growth 1, misfortune 2, magic 3, dominion strength 8 or 9 I think. Getting vampire counts is hard (basically you need to recruit Illuminati until you get one with a bonus death level, then boost him up to be able to cast it), but it’s thematic. The high turmoil and misfortune makes for properly interesting random events.

Playing this on Glory of the Gods map with max opponents all set to impossible. Right now Abysia has been throwing hordes of troops at me, and even though my greatsword and ranger armies have been cutting them to pieces and advancing slowly, taking castle afer castle, score graph shows his province and army and fortress counts still going up. If that’s not a proper battle against the endless hordes of Chaos I don’t know what is.

Note for Squidz, Andro and Apprentice folks:

It’s Thanksgiving in the US and I’m heading away for a week. I’ll do all my turns today and I’ll be leaving around 8pm EST. I’ll be back next Sunday. So I won’t be able to do any turns during that time.

I can ask for a stand-in if folks want…

No worries wahoo, I’m sure a bunch of us won’t be available much this week, me included on Thursday thru Sunday.

I’m busy too,so I think we all need to play when we can,and not worry about it.

I sent you some diplomatic overtures, but with no response, I thought it best to clean up the area around Acro’s former capital. Anyway I think Helheim is your only real threat at this point ;) I am suddenly really far away!

Don’t snakes speak with forked tongues??:)

You didn’t get my responses or questions? I did reply and thought that since you never said anything else back and started attacking me that you had just been acting nice as a distraction.

Hey, someone stick a timer on the Bommerlunder game!

The server seems to think that Midgard (last player to go) has been logged on for the last 2 hours. Is there a problem with it?

Nope, but I will submit my turn tonight - have been very busy today. I was checking earlier to see if there were still other people who have not submitted their turns, and there were none, so I knew I need to sumbit soon. Sorry about it.

Arco has declared unprovoked war on the peaceloving Giants. Anyone who wishes to assist against the largest army in the game is welcome to assist us.

Or anyone who just wishes to help themselves to some Arco provinces…:)

Question I did not see in the manual, will mages set to Research fight if the province is unjustly attacked, or do I have to set them to Defend and waste research points???

If set to Research, they’ll just quiety go about their business while the visigoths take the province. If the visigoths, on a later turn, actually storm the castle, then the mages will get out of their comfortable reading chairs and fight even if set to Research. This is all assuming, of course, that the justness scale is -1 or less.

What happens if there is a lab but no castle? Do they defend the province?

Yes. Not sure what happens if the justness scale is 0 or greater, but for -1 or less, they’ll defend even if set to Research.

Mages with a lab researching defend the province they are in.

Mages with a lab researching with a castle, do not particpate in defense of the province.

Useful situations that you run into is blood hunting, so you can script your mages in an province without a fortress with gather blood slaves before the attack phase and can use any gathered blood slaves for defense.

More generally, everyone not sneaking/hiding in a non-castle province fights if there’s a battle. If there is a castle, leaders/units only fight if they’re actually patrolling.

I once (in Dom 2) destroyed a castle so I could have a province full of mages fight while still researching.

I didn’t get any reply! I swear it… I have double checked. What email address were you sending to? I hope you arent getting eaten by my spam filter!

Thanks for all the above responses to the research/defend question.
