Dear Future Subjects,
What kind and peace loving Giants? The Mighty and Untainted Thunder! tells me your flags offend his artistic nature. They are ugly. If you would be move that away from our land, and preferably where Thunder! will never see them, he would happily leave you alone.
Also, and mention this only because I must, The Glorious and Manly Thunder! says the Giants smell funny. Not as bad elephants per say, but with less of that farm goodness that goes with elephant poo. I am truly sorry to have to be the one to inform you.
Oh, and to the rest of our future subjects, do not fear, Thunder! shall rid the world of the Giants stink and ugliness. For the good of…well, The Amazing and Stunning Thunder!

[Apprentices: Late Summer in the year 2.]
Surviving documents provide a snapshot of Summer’s end in the Ancient Kingdom of T’ien Chi. These little-known people were once supreme in the Western lands of Cradle, but had been locked in an epic struggle with the noble Norsemen.
The corrupt Mandarins had proclaimed it Kage’s intention to conquer the barbarian Norse lands, but it was only a product of their greed and chicanery. These new documents provide strong evidence that the Mandarins had manufactured their casus belli to divert their ambitious generals away from their capital.
Giants use elephants to fetch their newspapers. You sure you want to mess with us?:)

Is Dawn of Dominions on hold till after Thanksgiving? I noticed the timer is off and it’s waiting on Sauromatia since Sunday or so.
The Mighty and Bold Thunder!'s terms have been made clear.
Though, maybe if you wish to help us clear out other flags… I could but ask Thunder!, the Strongest of all, and see, but without a coherent plan I’m sure I’d get smited like the last 72 pages.
the lowliest of pages,

I can slap the timer back on there no prob.
Having a pause until after thanksgiving is probably a good idea. With a dozen players, somebody is likely to be out of town.

Dawn of Dominions - Holy freaking crap, power-blessing Van are tough.
I mean … that was just MURDER.
I love my Van! Water blessing FTW.
I happened to have a scout in that province. Oh, Elephants, I thought, this should be interesting… ouch. Even the big stompy guys were no match for the Vans.
Just be glad the second blessing is death, instead of fire or earth! Even so, you’re going to have to pull off some pretty good magic tricks to survive their onslaught – I don’t envy you in the least!
Vans are nigh unstoppable in the early game… unless you have some serious masses of troops and lots of longbows.
I wonder what a 9W 9A bless would be like? But I suppose 9W 9F is the conventional and most devastating choice.

Why is death less bad than fire? He’s got the death-9 blessing which means he gets the Death weapons bonus which as I understand it is the same sort of damage bonus that fire would give.
It’s the extra damage that slaughtered me, not whether or not they can hit. They can do that fine with or without a fire blessing.
And what sort of magic tricks deal with this? Only thing I can think of is tons of spam - undead, vinemen, the like. It’s too early in this game for that, though - I’ve been recruiting researchers as fast as I can and I’ve just got nothing appropriate right now.
Death blessing has a MR check on it’s damage and it’s only a slight armor nulling damage. Fire damage is AP and 6, also lights people/things on fire. Included with that the +4 Att bonus makes it very unlikely they will miss, especially massed since it’s -2 per attack in the same round. So it takes less attacks to reach the sweet spot of doing damage.
The affliction bonus, while nice, is actually better on mages and missile weapons, since you can blanket those better.
Even if you had a SC, or the ability to make thugs, they wouldn’t stand up to the Vans.
Flaming Arrows + mass archers still works on double-bless Vans. Blade Wind can still work, elementalspam, mass fireball, tangle vines (if there arn’t too many) can help. Depends on your nation/pretender what you can cobble together to wear them down then kill them.

What I should’ve done is staff that fort with lots of cheap troops and not sallied forth.
That would’ve stopped him for a while, and bought me time. Ah well. I’ll know better next time.
Quantity over quality baby. People running blessed vans simply need to be buried in masses of inferior troops backed by good archers (if available). It’s not as hard as it sounds to pull off because the double 9 blessed Van strategy requries some crappy scales to get the points for the blessing, so someone with good scales ought to be able to outgrow/outproduce a blesser in the long run. In the short run or in the early game . . . well . . . it sucks to be Van rushed.

Dawn of Dominions
Hmmm i took death because there are many fire resistant units out there but no death immunity ones so far as i know… and death is much cheaper to get as van than fire…
btw Yeah those elephants where funny…
Do you hear that Tien Chi? I hope you can make many many many archers.
THANKS FOR STARTING A WAR!
